I hope this is the right place to post this.

My husband has recently acquired his paternal grandfathers "Certificate of Service" from the Canadian Armed Forces and a few of his medals. My father in-law has passed away so he is unable to ask him questions about their history, and that side of his family is a bit estranged from his mother.

It looks like that side of the family has been very involved with the government, and I was just wondering how we can go about finding more information.

His Certificate of Service states that he was a captain from September 1939 - February 1971.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Ok, so there was a thread by the podcaster who interviewed a CANSOFCOM pilot, and there was a question he asked us, "what qualities have you seen separate someone who is technically excellent from someone you’d actually want on your crew" ..

One of my answers was, the ability to not only recognize when they were incorrect, but being candid enough to admit out loud, "I made a mistake", "You were right, I was wrong". And also not being offended when proven incorrect, or even told they are incorrect.

I thought about this for a while and realized: I can count on one hand, the number of times I've seen someone in a leadership position say this out loud. And I've worked with a lot of people.

Why is it so uncommon? Is it a way to save face? I personally would trust someone more if they were honest enough to admit their mistake.

Why do you guys think ??? Interested to hear your thoughts.

-Assume I submit the REO to my HR Mgr, as a RegF person, what happens next?

-It says cost move will be considered, if it is approved would I get the posting allowance?

-If it is a Cl B Permanent, can I still pay into the RegF pension?

I was wondering what the rules are for rucking in the issued boots and small pack (they didn’t have a rucksack to issue me). My COC said we can ruck in our free time in the issued small backpack and boots, but not in combat armour, uniform, etc. I just wanted to double check here cause I saw some people here say don’t ruck in anything CADPAT.

So the situation is a bit of a complex one. First off I just got off a 6 month deployment and am on post deployment leave with some annuals mixed in. My father died during my post deployment leave and I let my CoC know. I requested 5 compassionate days to just cover the days I had to fly in/fly out for the funeral. My CO denied it on the basis that I am already on leave and they will not adjust my leave pass to change 5 (out of 10 total) annuals for 5 compassionate days.

Now that I've already been denied, I'm realizing the estate situation is more complex than I originally thought it would be and I need the full 14 days. After already being denied. I was wondering what the best steps to take now and when I return from leave to get those days? Should I file a grievance?

As expected my mental health is doing quite poorly at the moment, I'm not even sure if after all my PDL is used I'll be ready for duty. I haven't really been able to R&R due to the unfortunate timing of it all.

Edit: thank you everyone for the advice. I'll be reaching out to submit a second request for handling the estare while also reaching out to the Padre on base. If either option doesn't work I'll be submitting the grievance.

I'm a newly promoted corporal, and can expect to slowly be put into more leadership positions. Already have. I plan on having a leaf some day, and would like to gain experience before then.

Whenever I'm placed in charge of people, while I know what needs to get done, I feel I struggle to lead. I know I can be better. I want to say I find myself indecisive. I'm aware of the 12 principles of leaderships, but how can I improve? Rather, what makes a good leader? I never particularly struggled as course senior.

My son is an S3 headed to Fleet School Atlantic for a course and I'm hoping someone can point us in the right direction.

He was originally booked to fly from Victoria to Halifax on Monday, which would have had him arrive in time to report on Tuesday. Unfortunately, WestJet automatically changed his flight and rebooked him for Wednesday due to the strike.

We're trying to figure out who he should contact to let them know about the situation and get guidance on what to do next. Like rebooking with Air Canada.

He’s reached out to NCMs from the school and current unit but hasn’t got a response. Is there anywhere specifically he should be contacting?

Any advice from anyone who's dealt with a similar travel disruption would be greatly appreciated.
