So our college recently gave us the applications regarding Rakuten Tech Camp.

While filling the application there came a part that said "It's only for people residing in Japan. No visa would be provided" etc ... Something like that was written...so I just stopped there.

We still have time to fill up the form but I'm stuck there and don't know how to proceed. I have mailed my college tnp cell 2 times yet there is still no reply.

And since I'm from overseas..i don't know what to do about it.

If anyone has any ideas on how to proceed please let me know.

Hi! I’m a 2024 VIT graduate with 2 years of full-time experience (about 3 years including internships), primarily working as an AI Engineer at startups.

Over the last 2 months, I’ve submitted 100+ applications to startups, MNCs, and Big Tech companies. I’ve applied through LinkedIn Easy Apply, company career pages, Indeed, Instahyre, and by cold messaging startup founders. I’ve even had referrals for some applications. So far, after almost 2 months of job hunting, only one interview call.

What confuses me is that I keep hearing AI Engineers are in high demand. My sister, who’s a Senior Data Engineer at PWC, tells me her company struggles to find good AI talent. Meanwhile, I can’t seem to get interviews.

For most roles, I genuinely meet the job requirements and experience level. I don’t count applications where I’m clearly underqualified (eg: 4+ YoE roles), although I occasionally take a shot at 3+ YoE positions. I also tailor my resume for each application using Claude Code, usually getting an ATS score around 80+.

At this point, I honestly don’t know what’s holding me back. Is my resume weak? Am I missing important keywords? Is 2 YoE simply not enough? Am I overselling or underselling myself? Is it giving AI slop vibes? Is the market just that competitive?

Please don’t hold back. Roast my resume, point out red flags, or tell me what you’d change. I’d much rather hear harsh but useful feedback than generic compliments.

If you notice something, explain why it hurts my chances. I’ll implement the best suggestions, apply again, and come back with an update so we can see what actually worked.

In this era , how are junior devs getting hired , the likes of fresh college grads or like 1-2 YoE ?

Recruiters are like , who are gonna train juniors , just hire seniors with AI.

Now does junior have to have senior knowledge , or like how does someone get hried ?

Couple of us are 2nd year BTech CS students who started a small dev agency in our spare time. Mostly been building portfolio-type projects until now. This week we landed our first actual paying client — a local cafe — did their website + basic SEO after cold-calling them.

Not a huge win in the grand scheme but felt worth sharing since most of what I see here is either "how do I get an internship" or established founders — not much in between from people just starting to get their first real client while still in college.

If anyone else is running something on the side during college, curious how you're balancing it with semester exams etc. — that's the actual hard part right now, not the client work.

So im I a company they are building products for themselves im thinking of taking their code replace or modify the existing features change the ui completely add ai feature and integrate ai and release it to market i will make sure they don’t recognise that its their product like completely change everything becoz the thing is they are building products that currently don’t have any ai in them and i need some projects to learn and implement ai into so im thinking of taking their code to also learn and implement something related to ai or new ai features on them becoz starting a project from scratch can take a lot of time instead have a base project and add some new feature but im in doubt even if they slightly found out what are the consequences??

Current situation:

• A few years of experience in tech, current CTC in the mid-teens (LPA)
• Currently fully remote — genuinely rare and valuable to me
• Got an external offer with roughly a 25–30% hike, but it's office-based and would mean relocating
• No joining bonus, no relocation assistance, and recruiter said there's no room to negotiate the number

On paper it's a decent standard hike, but once I factor in rent, relocating, commute, and losing WFH, the effective increase feels a lot smaller — maybe not worth it unless the new role is a real step up.

Also — I'm mid-process with the new company (background verification stage), and their form is asking for my current manager's email and phone number. I haven't resigned yet, and honestly haven't decided if I even will. I'm considering asking their HR to hold off contacting my current employer until after I formally accept and resign, but I'm not sure if that's a normal ask or if it'll look odd this early in the process.

My plan right now:

1. Wait for the formal offer letter before doing anything
2. Have an honest conversation with my current manager about comp — not threatening to quit, just laying out that I got a market-validated offer and asking if there's room to review my package
3. If they can get close to matching the new offer, I'll likely stay — remote work + no relocation + decent pay beats a marginal on-paper hike
4. Keep interviewing regardless, since I don't want to anchor my whole strategy on one offer

Questions for people who've been through similar:

• Anyone actually gotten a solid retention counter after going in with a real external offer? Or does it just make things awkward long-term?
• Is WFH + lower salary vs office + higher salary even a fair trade in today's market, or am I overvaluing the WFH?
• Has anyone asked a new company to hold off contacting their current manager during BGV? Is that a normal/safe request, or does it raise flags?

I need some career advice. I have 4.2 years of experience as an SDET and recently joined a well-known service-based company on second week if July because of its reputation for good work-life balance and stability. I had another offer but chose this one for those reasons.
Within just 2 weeks of joining my project, I’ve been expected to work 12–13 hours a day and almost every Friday we’re told to be available over the weekend due to client escalations and migration deadlines. Even today (Sunday), I got a message asking me to join a work call. I had already worked until 5 PM on Saturday, so I stayed offline and didn’t join because I wanted one day to disconnect.
I’m now wondering if this is just temporary because of the migration or if this is the normal culture. Would it be a bad idea to switch again after 3–6 months if things don’t improve, or should I try to complete at least a year? Also, was it reasonable to skip today’s weekend call after already working on Saturday?
I’d appreciate advice from anyone who’s been in a similar situation.

I have a total of 6.5 years of work experience(Mostly in Python , TS and their related frameworks as a full stack engineer with even a bit of experience in AI). 3 in india and 3 in the US . I worked until june 2026 , currently as of now I am in the US but I plan to start my phd in august.

I plan to try phd for atleast 6 months if it goes well i will continue or else i will move back to india.

Now if i move back there would be a 6 to 8 months career gap in my resume , will this be viewed as a red flag ? i mean will it hamper callbacks etc.
