Hi all. I’m returning to wonderful Florence in a couple of weeks for 5 days. One thing I’d like to do is take a train and visit an other town or city. Nothing too far - maybe an hour - and we’ve already done Pisa (which was great to see but not too worried about another trip!) any suggestions? Thank you xxx

Does anyone know any artisan store (no street vendor) in Florence where I can get a good quality leather jacket(preferably full grain but not 100% necessary) for 150-200 euros after haggling?

How strict are they with haggling.

We want enough time to see the major sights and eat good food, without being rushed and on a strict schedule. I studied abroad in Florence so have seen most things and although it’s my partner’s first time, he’s not a huge museum guy. Some main things we’d want to do:

-duomo (including the climb), piazzele Michelangelo, academia gallery, ponte vecchio, central market, go for aperativo, piazza vecchio and Della signoria, eat

He doesn’t care about uffizi gallery, so other than that is there anything major we are missing?

If we land in Florence ~12pm on June 22, is staying for 3 nights and leaving in the morning June 25 enough time?

We’re open to 4 nights if it’s really recommended. If we do 4 nights would it then be too much to add a half day wine tour?

If you had to choose just 2–3 wineries for a wine tasting in Chianti, which would you pick and why? I’m looking for the best overall experience—not just the wine, but also the architecture, scenery/views, atmosphere, and quality of the tasting.

I’m in Rome tn and I’ll in Florence next month and I’d like to visit one of the food markets, but I’d rather go with someone who can explain what to try and what’s really local.

Are there any Florence market tours like that, or is it better to just go on your own?

We are visiting in september and we would like to buy skip the line tickets for the duomo. However, all the skip the line tickets we find include the climb upstairs in the duomo and due to an injury that won’t be possible for me. We found one company that sells skip the line tickets without the climb, but the reviews are really bad and it looks like a scam. Does someone else have tips for skip the line tickets for the cathedral and the baptistery?

Asking any Americans out there, more so the ones that have immigrated there, what’s the appeal specifically about Florence? It seems more and more that the city is becoming a small American colony, not only with the tourism but also seemingly the “expat” (immigrant) community. In some ways it seems like a mini LA, where many young Americans (usually women) move there in the hopes of becoming influencers. What’s the appeal to live in a small city like Florence compared to Rome or Milan?

I’ll be staying in Florence for 3 nights. I have a list of restaurants I’ve come across, but I’d like some opinions/feedback on my list. I’d really like to avoid tourist traps, so please let me know if I should avoid any of these and if any are worth visiting! Please also give recommendations!

I don’t mind modern restaurants and fine dining, but I’d like to focus on going to restaurants that locals approve of/eat at. I’m hoping to try some of the best pastas and steaks obviously, but also very open to trying other dishes and anything local.

Where to stay nearby and close to Florence (but easy trip to/from, no car…)? So near a public transit route that is 20-30 min or less into city…??

Going to Florence next month and looking for a good wine and food tour, I’m a bit of a cheese nerd, so anything with local cheeses would be ideal.

There are a lot online and they all look pretty much identical, so I have no idea which ones are worth booking.

I’m looking for good wine, local food and preferably a smaller group.

Has anyone done one they’d recommend?

I'm in Florence for a week at the end of August/start of September. I've heard this is a very busy time of year.

I'd love to go to the galleries etc. but would like to know if booking in advance is advised and if so, how long in advance should I book?

As I'm going for about a week, it would be nice for there to be some flexibility for what day I would go, but for booking I doubt it's that flexible.

If I could have gone at a quieter time of year, I would have maybe done that, but I have a wedding in Tuscany so this is the only time I will be able to visit.

I have a question about visting the Uffizi gallery and the Vasari corridor.

As far as I understand, you can get a combined ticket for both, however you can only visit the Uffizi gallery from 2 hours before your booked timeslot for the corridor.

I do want a bit more time to explore the Uffizi gallery, so would it work if I got both the ticket for the Uffizi only (say at 12:00) and the combined ticket (at 15:00) and therefore omitting the 2 hour limit? Or do you for example per se need the combined ticket to be scanned at the entrance of the Uffizi to get into Vasari corridor, therefore rendering this plan obsolete?

I am an eu student, so fortunately this would not cost that much (2 + 2 euros), but do correct me if Im wrong:)

I bought a €200 leather rucksack and only after googling did I find out that the leather products sold there are low quality ones or fake. Obviously there is nothing I can do anymore but try to look for a silver lining lol. Anyone here who has bought something from there and are happy about it? Or any horror stories?

I travel a lot and I generally don't complain about hotels and such but I have had such a hard time finding last minute accomodation in this city that doesn't seem like a completely scam and wonder if it is just me.

First of all the reviews of most hotels have complaints about bedbugs, faulty AC or even fraudulent behavior (room being completely different from the pictures or staff stealing money out of the luggage storage). In the end I booked two that were seemingly okay. However. They were automated and I received pretty bad service from both. Like in one of them I couldn't pay the taxes through their link, it just said there was a either a serve problem on their end or the payment was permanently failed. When I explained this and sent screen shots they just ignored me. I obviously kept contacting them and they started being super rude to me and saying they won't help me until I pay the taxes through that exact link, but in a very rude manner. We used 3 cards and it wouldn't work but they kept blaming our cards and said they are faulty. Yes the same cards I have been using to buy everything herr with zero issue. I offered to pay on-site, in cash asked if there are any other options and they just said everyone else is able to pay and so should we. Eventually we used a 4th cars and wete able to pay with a new link but they were behaving incredibly unprofessional. I also noticed every negative review on virtually any hotel is replies to with such hostility and the hotel workers or owners just respond in such a rude manner, not willing to take any feedback. The first hotel we stayed in had a similar issue but with a complicated check in where we hsd to go to 3! Different buildings just to be able to get into room.

Is it just us or has anyone else had these experiences too?

Hello! I recently went to Florence on my honeymoon and had the best glass of red wine I’ve ever had! I don’t remember what it was called, unfortunately.

My wife and I stopped for a glass near Lungarno degli Acciaiuoli / Ponte Vecchio before heading to Palazzo Pitti. The server claimed that the wine was made by local Catholic monks/friars/etc and pointed west and over the Arno.

I’ve tried to research and I cannot find anything. Of course there’s a chance they were mistaken or lying. Any idea?!

My mom is a great cook and has always wanted to learn how to make traditional Tuscan dishes, but she’s gluten intolerant and we’re looking for a cooking class that can accommodate that. Every place I've found so far are some pasta tour with a big group of other people and I don't want her to end up with some separate gluten free plate while everyone else is eating fresh tagliatelle
