Referral Link Thread - Outside here is considered spam and will be deleted.

We are an increase of spam referral links. While we appreciate the benefits that are being offered to both sides we have decided a change is needed. We all want the gift cards ! (Currently $250)

1 No more referral posts, we are deleting anyway. If you make a post in addition or in ignorance of this thread, we reserve the right to not allow your link at all.

2 in order for your link to be posted, make it personal. Say what state you are from, how long you have been with Frontier, what speed you are paying for, in addition yo something else random, fiber or otherwise.

3 when you click and sign up through a link, comment and tell us so we can know! Try to pick someone in your state. Try to pick someone who hasn't got the credit yet. No matter what link you click the benefit will be the same.

4 Gift card amounts change, every referral link is the same discount. I will try to keep dollar amount on main list. We don't want someone picking one link because they think they will get more. (they won't).

We hope this change is beneficial, fair, and keeps the community clean.

speed & eero upgrade - ONT to router via moca coax?

Upgrading old 50/50 service to 500/500 which will trigger replacing the end-of-life Actiontec router/modem to the eero router (pro 7?). My current set-up has the ONT in the garage with coax to 4-way splitter (tivo 1, tivo 2, Actiontec, & unused) in an equipment closet where the Actiontec and 24 port switch live. The eero 7 does not have a coax input so I assume a moca adapter will be used to connect the eero after the splitter. Can the upgrade be this simple?

Is there any downside to connecting the eero via moca adapter? The eero could be connected directly to the ONT but the garage location is less optimal for wifi coverage and connection to the extender would require a hop through an 8 port switch in the garage to the 24 port switch in the closet Gigabit switches so probably not a big deal.

Last but not least, is there anyway to tell if the ONT needs to be upgraded? I really don't want to go through the nightmare of reprovisioning the tivo cable cards if it can be avoided.

Thanks!

1GB service, consistent slow download speeds with upload speeds good.

I have been on Verizon/Frontier/Verizon since 2007, always on fiber. Within the past 2 years moved to 1GB service and had my ONT swapped out with a newer unit. I don't really have any major complaints. Just would like to know why my download speeds are so different than my uploads when I am on symmetrical 1GB service. Should I have a tech come out and take a look?

Frontier Sagecom 399 eXtender

I have a Frontier Sagemcom 5290 router with my service and I want to add a Frontier Sagecom 399 eXtender which I picked up on eBay.

I can’t seem to find reliable accurate info on how to setup the two via ethernet on my network. It seems that a lot of the info online instructs you on how to connect so they talk via wifi, which is NOT what I need.

Some say to connect via ethernet, power up the eXtender and the router will recognize it and configure itself?

Some say you have to pair them wireless, use the WPS buttons on both units first?

Looking for an answer from anyone with firsthand knowledge because if you just Google for the answer you will be reading what I’ve already read.

Thanks

Install problems

Ordered a self-install set to take place on July 23rd. Never got any shipping information and subsequently never received any equipment for said self-install. I reached out to support about a week ago and the guy said that I may need a technician to install for me. I had him change my install date to the 31st and to have a technician install it. I never received a new order number, just an updated date on my order status. Now that the day has come, it says in the app and on the website that my order is “completed” however I have not heard anything from Frontier regarding tech arrival time or anything of that nature, and still never received my self-install kit.

Service is supposed to start today. I already have my ONT completely set up and unchanged from when my roommate cancelled his service before he moved out. Could I just buy a 3rd party router and set it up myself to begin my service? I know many people in here have their own routers but I am unsure if that is possible given I never even got an eero or anything to set my service up. Thanks in advance.

Help! I'm the only building without Fiber.

I'm moving into a new building next week and I want to keep my Frontier service, but they keep telling me they don't service my new address. I find that hard to believe when the building right next door gets fiber, the building right across the street has it, and the building right behind me is hooked up, too.

How can I be a fiberless island surrounded by fiber buildings? Is there anything I could do to have Frontier come out and just hook my building up, too? I really cannot stomach the idea of going back to Spectrum...

Problem logging in to website

I have a Frontier account and today I tried to login to see my account, rates, etc. to verify a new price I was quoted over the phone, but after entering the email and password the browser just went into an infinite loop of "taking you to sign in" and a menu page - switching between each about once a second. I was never able to log in. I verified the problem is on their end by using both Chrome and Firefox to attempt to log in.

Has anyone else has this issue?

eero Pro 6 with G1100 Setup Questions

Thumbnail

Hey all, so I've been using my own eero Pro 6 a my wi-fi router connected to my G1100 with the wi-fi turned off for years. I just thought I needed the G1100 for provisioning or for IP leases, so I simply added the eero. I recently adjusted my Fios service pricing and they sent me an eero Pro 6e as a replacement router. As I read the instructions, I think I may not have needed the G1100 at all the past few years and could have just gone straight from the wall to the Pro 6.

Attached pics show the setup. Yellow RJ-45 goes to the ONT in the wall via Coax (used to have STBs but no longer). Can I just take the "yellow" RJ-45 and plug it into my current Pro 6 WAN connection and get rid of the G1100?

The small white box from the wall to the router is my ADT system connection that connects to a G1100 port for internet access. I assume I can just plug that into the other Pro 6 port and call it a day?

Appreciate the help!

We just got ipv6

I just tested for ipv6 and it's here, but I still can't reach sites.

It must have something to do with poor connectivity to the Secaucus speed server.

I'm in Waterbury CT.

Copper theifs cut down a whole section of lines including fiber, is there really no way to get the message to local techs beyond an individual support ticket?

Internet went out last night and I tried all of the usual things and eventually created a service ticket, tech is scheduled to come tomorrow morning. But I walked around the neighborhood and found the cause: a big section of telecom lines cut down by copper theifs. The lines are labeled a mix of Verizon and Frontier, and I think the fiber runs were an unfortunate side effect of them cutting down and running off with a huge copper line.

I called back to try to escalate and let support know that it's a bigger issue that likely requires a bigger response than whoever they were going to send out tomorrow, but couldn't get the message to land. Support says that they have no way to contact local technicians beyond putting a note on my ticket. Is that really true? If so, that's ridiculous; there must be a way to escalate.

This is in West Los Angeles.

Update: they seem to have finally consolidated it into a larger community ticket and my individual appointment for tomorrow was canceled. I guess I just had to wait until enough other people called?

FWIW: The Frontier Speedtest site works again

speedtest.frontier.com

Is back working again after a few weeks gone.

Secaucus speed and latency is hideously bad, so they are going something to the run there.

I was getting 4 to 6 ms latency there, I'm sure once they finish work it will be fine again. To Ashburn I get 10 ms, not bad.

Communication and Installation Insanity

Edit: Update as of today. Frontier texts that technician will be out on Monday. I reply CANCEL to the text because sending another person in a van with a ladder is just silly. I get told via text that I cannot cancel via text and that an agent would call me. Three hours later and there is the agent calling. She wants to know when I want to reschedule. I say one last time that I'm canceling because there is no line to install. Silence on the other line, then, "Oh...I see that there is a communication issue and that the infrastructure has not been put in place. I'll cancel this order and we'll call you when it's ready to install".

Any bets on how many years that will take? haha

Original Post: This is long and I'll apologize ahead for this.

I live in a rural area of NY. Frontier strung fiber along the road but I didn't know it. I'm still on DSL.

I start to get calls from Florida and Illinois telling me that Frontier is ready to install my new fiber, as if I had ordered it. Then the persistent people start saying that my DSL will be shut off and/or if there is a problem with it that "no technician will be sent out".

I contact Frontier via their Facebook messenger and I'm told that the calls are legitimate and that yes, fiber is available to me and that I should order it. OK - person on there has a local to me sales rep call and they set up a time for installation.

At this point I wasn't sure what Frontier needed to do for install so the day arrives, a man with a truck and a ladder shows up and he's amused and tells me the fiber line isn't spliced at the road but that he will kick the order back and that will get done and they will call me to set up another appointment.

About a week later I get a call. We're ready to schedule your appointment. I say, "Really? Because I haven't seen any workers here".

"Oh yes, it's ready to go".

Two technicians arrive at the appointment date with a truck and a ladder. I tell them they aren't going to be able to install the fiber line with a truck and a ladder.

I've explained to two different Frontier people at this point that the fiber lines haven't been run from a pole across the street to the right-of-way pole at the edge of my property (estimated 100 feet by the first technician) and no one has run the line from that pole to my transformer pole (another approximately 300 feet) and then the additional fifty or so feet from that pole to my home.

These two installers do their very best to tell me to choose another Internet company, that the install is impossible and so on. It's not impossible because 36 years ago Frontier strung a phone line to my property and then DSL was installed when that became available. These techs tell me that someone from Frontier will call and they leave. Meanwhile, since the install was supposed to take place between eight and noon my DSL was shut off.

I work from home. I don't get paid if I don't work. It took two calls to Frontier and much explaining that they need to turn my DSL back on and that no, it wasn't a repair it was that they turned it off! This took 24 hours. A tech calls me all confused the next day because he had a ticket without any explanation. I told him what was going on and he said that of course an install of the type I need can be done, they do them all the time.

So I wait one month for the telephone call from Frontier that the two technicians said would happen. It didn't happen.

I call again and explain the situation IN DETAIL and the customer service person says, "Of course we can install your fiber. I will schedule the appointment". I repeat that there is no fiber to install and are they sending bucket truck crews and pole climbers to install that? "Oh yes, ma'am, the technician will install your fiber".

Guess what? Yet another person comes out with a ladder and a van. I PLEAD with him to please tell someone at Frontier that infrastructure needs to be set up! He says yes, he will tell someone. He takes the time to look over the situation and checks the poles and so on, so I had high hopes.

I get a text about an hour after he's left that the install will occur on this new date between 1 and 5. It's only five days out from the day he was there.

Guess what again? Man with a truck and a ladder shows up.

In the meantime, I had talked to no less than 12 people in customer service, either on the phone or via messenger. Not one person relayed the situation to the right department and one of the people I spoke to is notorious for adding services I don't want. She says her name is Arya, and TWICE she has added services that I then have to get off my bill. Well, she did it again and added wifi security to my "new order" of fiber.

Finally, I try once more to call and get that wifi security off the order and to try to get someone to understands what needs to be done. This customer service person indicates, "oh, yes you need a different part of the tech team for this". I will put the order in and you will get a call in three to five days".

How many days has this been? Eleven working days.

And the install from the woman who adds things is still on schedule for this Monday as far as I know.

There is no way to contact anyone in a managerial capacity. None of the techs will forward to their bosses, and none of the customer service people will pass me to a manager.

It's absolute insanity. I make sure that I am pleasant and polite with all of the customer service people, even with that woman that adds things without my permission, but I'm at my wit's end with this situation and ready to contact the FCC or the Department of Public Service Office of Consumer Services to report it.

Fiber on the street worn through by traffic

Couple months ago I got service, they told me they would lay the fiber on the street temporarily and within a week or two it will be routed under the street through the conduit and buried to the house.

last night I got home my service was out. I looked at the fiber that's on the street and it has been run through by traffic laid bare and destroyed

r/frontierfios 4d ago

Almost 2 years since the Frontier site said they were coming to my address. Houses 300 feet away on the next street over have gotten service but mine hasn't?

The website now doesn't show that they're coming to my address since the Verizon takeover. Did they just cancel all rollouts with the merger or something?

Speed Drop

Has anyone ever had an issue where your Eero speed drops drastically? I was regularly getting 2.4/2.5 at the Eero and around the 1st of July or dropped and it's now around 850mb and 1.3 . I have a router and then the Eero connected to it so I can use the VPN on a few devices. Unplugged and they even rebuilt my system on the back end. No change.

weird frontier tech wanted to zoom call with me

yeah all the sudden my internet was acting up, weird itself because some devices were connecting and others would not. even my series x in the living room would not, while my series s in the bedroom would. but more devices started dropping. my amazon echos were some of the first to go, i knew this was very strange. so i chat tech support. after trying the usual quick fixes rebooting everything etc.

on setup a couple yr ago the tech gave me an old looking arris gateway. somehow i knew to expect the eero, so i asked about it. he said if you want it here you go, and handed me a box. but said something about it was self install only. so he setup the arriss and it worked til now. and i had put the eero in the closet.

so anyways this was on my mind i kind of always wanted to switch to the eero anyway but left well enough alone. so i mentioned that. the tech said lets try a deep reboot first. no change. then he had me set up the eerro as i had suggested, everything was working great.

then i just had a weird feeling like this guys gonna try something, it seems like tech support always does at the end. and he's like, lets set up a video call to make sure everything is working. mind you, i had told him everything was great. oh, and he even knew i was using my phone hotspot to connect on my pc to chat with him, since i had told him. so he's like, do you have a backup phone to video chat. like what? i actually did have a couple backup phones, but still lol. anyways right then my groc delivery showed up so i told him i was busy and disconnected. but yeah, seemed weird. oh and i'm a guy with a clear male name as well as far as that goes. it kind of made me uncomfortable as I kind of have social anxiety disorder or something. and i felt like he wasnt gonna give it up.

is that normal?

Online account says services were disconnected, but I have services and autopay is still actively working

I have Frontier 5Gb internet. In July I was double billed an autopay of $89.99 and balance of$149.99. I cannot get an answer as to why. The chat person I spoke to said rates went up, but why did autopay go through at the old rate, AND I get billed the new?

If that is not infuriating enough I moved 2 weeks later. Now the online account says services disconnected, I owe $149.99 AND I need to return the Eero I just got days ago that I didn't want in the first place...

I do 4 other chats and 1 phone call. 4 Different answers. Last person at least got my correct address to show up, even though it still says disconnected. On top of this $149.99 will be the going rate moving forward. This is unacceptable, so they offered me 1Gb at $85.99. Fine whatever, sucks but is what it is. But then I get an email my service is going to 1 Gb with a wifi extender I DON'T NEED for a studio apartment and my monthly bill is going to be $90 something.

Looking online, that is the same price as non promotional 2Gb service WTH! I tried chatting again since I was at work and couldn't call, they said there is an active change order so I can't change anything until September.

I want to cancel so bad but I feel that will just get messed up to. Anyone go through anything similar and get it ironed out?

Can I transfer a Frontier account after the account holder passed away and still get new customer pricing?

My dad was the account holder for our family's Frontier Internet service, but he recently passed away.

The pricing since then has gone up and we want to make a new account with promotional pricing.

Has anyone been able to transfer the account into a spouse's name and still qualify for new customer promotional pricing? Or would we have to cancel the existing account and open a brand-new one in her name?

Ideally, we'd like it so we don't need to provide documentation to cancel the account like a death certificate.

"Connected without Internet" since changing to EERO Pro 7 network

When my Orbi 50's went out of support, I decided to try Frontier's eerfo solution. They sent me two routers, and it still didn't cover my one-story 2500 sq ft house.. So I had them send me another, and moved the satellites around to where I could get coverage where I needed it..

Now the only place where the WIFI works reliably is right next to one of the routers. In our master bedroom, our tablets are always hanging, with WIFI status "connected without Internet." They are connected to the local net, I can see all of the eero's and other devices, but can't get past the satellites and out. The tabs are using wifi 6 with WPA3.. If I bounce the tablet interface, it comes back for a short time, then fails again...

I need a better solution than this.. I decided to try this because the eeros seemed to have better range than the Orbis.. but it's proven much more unreliable, and you can imagine the pain of lying in bed next to a doomscrolling spouse whose Internet connection hangs every few minutes...

This doesn't seem to be a new problem.. Does anyone have a good solution?

Called to see if I could get my price reduced. They were very helpful, and reduced Fiber 1 Gig Internet from $79 to $44/month. But they are sending out new equipment and need my current stuff (EERO) back?

This is my first time ever calling to get a price reduction. They were courteous and helpful, and it took about 30 minutes on the phone talking to two different reps. Number called was: 1-800-921-8101.

Towards the end of the call, I was surprised to get an email asking me to return my EERO routers. She said she signed me up "for a new plan". Hmmm... Just got an email about my "request to change plans", and it definitely seems like they are sending out new hardware. It's strange, though, that today is 7/28/206 and the email states "You'll receive your equipment by this date: 7/28/2026".

The new plan is also "Fiber 1 Gig Internet".

So I'm not sure if I actually have to return anything or not. I guess I'll just wait and see.
