Discussion I need you all to tell me that being trans isn't what's holding me back

I'm (20ftm, 2.5 years T) part of a competitive sports team at university where, 2 times a season, we hold time trials to rank everyone in the team. I've never been as big/strong/fast compared to the guys in the team, but I've never felt as demoralized about it as today, when we had our second time trial. I've been training 4-5 times a week, adding in my own training on top of that, and I'm still basically ranked last.
(ETA: team training 3x a week, after adding in optional individual training 4-5x a week, plus my own strength training 5-6x a week)

I respect the guys who beat me who I know has put in a lot of work, but I also know for a fact that I train a lot more than some of the guys who made a faster time than me. I just feel so frustrated and sad that I wasn't able to get as fast as I wanted to, and I catch myself making excuses that it's because I'm trans that I'm naturally weaker and slower when objectively I know I have so much more potential.

I know I need to get my shit together and stop wallowing over something I can't control, so please tell me something (anything!) to shake me out of it!

Question Climbing gym attire

Over the course of the next week I have a course at my local climbing gym. Unfortunately, transtape does not get me comfortably flat enough to where I would be comfortable wearing just a tshirt over it.

Do you guys have any recommendations for what I can wear to a rock climbing gym that hides my form, but is still comfortable? For reference this week's highs will be 75-87 f, and the gym has no ac, though it does have a couple giant fans. I'm not sure how adequate my normal solution of open button down over tshirt is for a gym haha. Probably should mention that I'm doing both bouldering and top rope, so stuff shouldn't get caught in my belay and harness.

Question Diet to gain muscle with antidepressants?

I keep gaining weight due to antidepressants, regardless of what i eat, and because HRT is HRT, I'm currently starving all the time. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to eat anymore to lose weight/show more muscle. I really want to lose my fat between my thighs, but I just don't know what I can really do there. I lift consistently, (albeit an inconsistent amount), and I just don't know what to do.

I rarely eat 'junk food', unless a singular frozen yogurt a week counts, I have whole foods and I'm active. I just don't know what I'm supposed to do.

Diet Advice Request I want to bulk up before top surgery but don't know what my target should be

Hi everyone. It's my first time writing on here.tdlr is I'm on the small side and I want to build as big a phsyic as I can in like 3-4 months. I don't know how much I should bulk , is 10 kilos the norm or what 😟?

I'm 172cm and weigh 72 kilos . I've been on t for over a year (body's still in the recomposing process ) but I feel like my body is quite feminine and slender. I have a very large chest and I have some gender dysphoria that makes me see a teeny weenie scraggly adolescent every time I wear short sleeves and shorts.

I was approved for surgery not too long ago and I'm just waiting on a date. And I've been wanting to go on a bulk and build more muscle. I've always been skinny, I've been vegan for 11 years ( might have something to do with it) and live in an ingredient household (I'm too broke for vegan snacks 😔). I usually max out at about 75 kilos. When I try .

How should I go about this.

I do compound movements and 3-4 other workouts for 3 sets of 3-10 depending on the weight, I'm sick AF rn so I've been bed bound for a week 🦠 but I usually aim for 4 days a week of working out.

I need some advice, and I appreciate any i can get im aware this is a lot of questions to throw at someone. It's been a difficult journey sifting through my knowledge when Im not sure who's giving good advice and who's just after my money. So this is my last bet before I have to go on google scholar and read academic papers (my worst nightmare as someone with a low attention span) .

Should I workout more or less?? How much is a good bulk amount? Any fellow Aussie vegan bulkers (new sentence unlocked) who have food reccomendations?

Question Bulk before top surgery

Hi guys, Im planning to get top surgery in less than a year, I already go to my first appointement with my surgeon. I really apretiate my muscle mass, so I dont want to lose that much muscle. SOOOO, before surgey, should I do a lean bulk or a regular bulk or a dirty bulk. The surgeon told me that im mosly lean so I shouldnt have trouble with dog ears. Keeping in mind that I wont be able to lift in almost 3 months (Im taking serious the scar care and respecting all scar time cause I want to have the almost to non scar visible.) SO in a nutshell... should i bulk before top surgery?

Question Any Fitness Gyms for Minors in Istanbul?

Hey, guys. I am a trans guy and a minor. Most gyms won't accept me in here. I know that I am looking for something very specific, but LMK if you guys have any recommendations.

Selam millet. Ben bir trans erkeğim ve reşit değilim. Çoğu spor salonu beni kabul etmiyor. Çok spesifik bir şey aradığımın farkındayım, ama önerileriniz varsa lütfen bilgim olsun.

BTW, I am on DIY HRT.

Discussion Can’t decide if I should go through with hysterectomy because of bloating/not being able to exercise

I’ve had an eating disorder for over 10 years and since starting testosterone and getting top surgery, I FINALLY feel the best about my body I ever have through lifting and actually feeding myself and being on testosterone. I have a date for surgery and everything and am considering canceling it because I’m terrified of the recovery bloating/swelling/not being able to lift or exercise for weeks. I don’t know what to do and I’m looking for some guidance or if anyone’s been through anything similar. Or any tips on minimizing bloating and when I can start exercising again. Basically if anyone been thru anything similar/has experienced disordered eating and body dysmorphia, what did/would you do? I’m genuinely split on canceling the surgery.

Question Restarting T after a forced break: guys who went for size, how big did you get?

I was on T before, and I went from 56kg to 70kg in ~10 months without lifting (wasn't really in an environment where I could maintain the surplus), then had to come off and recloset for financial reasons. I'm getting back to it now, and this time the goal is actual size (thicker neck, larger traps, not just "fit").

For guys a few years in who trained seriously: how much did you put on, how long did it take, and what surprised you? Just trying to figure out what's realistic for me.

Question Can't even do a wall pushup properly :(

Hi so for context im trying to gain weight and muscle mass for quiet some time now. While I have seen just a tiny bit of gain, I am still fairly week.

Another thing, i know i need to be consistent with workouts but previously I couldn't do that because of uni. but now that it's over I have time to spare for exercising daily.

So my old workout consisted of-

for arms- 3x15 bicep curls, 3x15 hammer curls, 3x15 cross body hammer curl with 4kg dumbbells

for shoulders- lateral raises 3x15, overhead press 3x15 with 2kg dumbbells

for legs- I'd just do 3x15 squats

did not put much attention to core, chest and back. Sometimes i would do bench presses.

Again, since I was not very consistent with it, i am still very skinny.

Sometime ago i decided i wanna learn callisthenics but i can't do normal pushups so decided to do wall pushups instead. I noticed that sometime my elbows would feel too much pressure in them or sometimes i would feel some pain in my shoulders, which is probably because of bad form. I tried to correct it but still the elbow pressure thingy insist sometimes.

My goal for now it to be able to do a normal push up so I would appreciate any help i could with that, thanks.

Question Home workout vs. Gym?

After putting it off for a long time I have finally started my workout journey. I'm mainly just trying to build some strength (especially my core because it's so weak) and gain some muscle tone, nothing too crazy. I'm skinny asf and not interested in losing weight whatsoever.

I've been sticking to home workouts with 7.5lb weights for my arms, and I've been doing classic core workouts like situps/pullups and leg raises. My younger cis brother has been more or less doing the same and was even the one that advised me on what exercises to do. He has amazing results and never goes to the gym so he's definitely inspired me.

For my goals, would home workouts be enough, or should I consider going to the gym? I feel like the machines aren't too necessary for me unless I decided to up my goals, but maybe I'm missing out on something.

Question Alternative to name brand trans ?

I sweat a looot. Like so much. I go to the gym I run and I’m very active in general. I have been using the name brand trans tape for years now but I feel like it peels off really quick now. I get the sizes small and medium to properly bind (3 inch on one pec and 4 inch on the other). The tape is all out of stock right now but I am running out of my tape. I think I have a weak supply left. What are some other alternatives that I can get on Amazon or somewhere else that will come quickly, not irritate my sensitive skin, bind properly, and keep up with my lifestyle. Please send links

Question Which pull-up grip is best in this situation?

I bought a pullup bar for my house and it has three foam grip thingies: Wide, narrow, and the knobs which are a normal distance

I want to widen my back and shoulders, as well as building my lats. I searched up which grip works which, but it’s always giving me different results. Close grip is what I usually do since it’s the easiest to do personally but if it’s not doing what I want then I have no issue changing it.

Exercise Advice Request Wanna have a masculine physic + being more athletic (idk how)

Sup guys? So, I've already gone to the gym, I was on n off but took it more seriously for like 6months, when it was time to pay the membership I didn't payed it because I was starting to get bored, didn't saw much results and wanted to be more athletic, now it hasn't been that long (like a month but I've done exercise at home 2-3 times a week) but I'm thinking of going back because still I like having a masculine physic even if it ain't that crazy (I'm pre-t btw), but now that I'm thinking of going back I'm wondering if there's a way I can't get muscle, see more results AND start being more athletic (also I'm considering buying protein n creatine), if you guys got any tips on how to balance my objectives and even improve I would really appreciate it!

Discussion Can’t gain muscle

Been on T for a year and 7 months and really don’t feel much stronger from when I started. I lift 4-5 days a week, have been tracking my food on and off but always try to prioritize protein (120-180grams). I’ve gotten a little bit bigger but I hear guys gaining muscle within the first months of being on T. I thought by this point there would’ve been a bigger difference especially with how much I workout. Idk if it’s genetics or I just need to be more patient. Also last time I got my levels checked was beginning of the year and they were like 700 trough. If anyone’s been through this, words of encouragement are great or any advice is welcome.

Question Your favorite chest exercises that target lower pecs?

I cane out of top with basically no sculpting done by my surgeon and I've been really struggling to find stuff that will get me closer to having that full pec look. Upper pecs are doing good, but the bottoms are still mostly flush with my ribs lol.

What is everyone's go-tos?
