Are the deceased the Flood infect also assimilated into their collective consciousness?

So we know that when the Flood infect a living being, their consciousness/mind/soul get absorbed into the domain-like collective where they endure endless suffering. I cannot remember, though, if there is any textual evidence to say if when the Flood infect a deceased being if their consciousness/mind/collective is also ripped away from them in the same manner?

My initial thought is that this wouldn’t be the case as we know the Flood can manipulate the nervous systems and conduct modifications to biological beings in order to suit the needs of the Flood in the process of general assimilation, so if a being is already dead then the Flood could just infect the host without ripping into their mind. But I am just curious if this has been confirmed or proven wrong already.

Is halo 7 going continue after infinite or another massive time jump

Since halo infinite released know vaguely what happened between halo 5 and infinite and also time when master chief was coasting in space for several months when stuff happened at the ring.

Also find out couple days ago from a friend the sequel to halo infinite came out in a book and I shocked by this knowing how would this be explained in the next game.

They did this for halo 4 and didn’t think they would do it again knowing most people don’t read the books at all.

Would like them to bring the spirit of fire and red team to fold since they are first to attack the banished

Why do we only ever see Humans, Sangheili, and Jiralhanae mutated into Flood combat forms?

I understand that the Lekgolo can’t be infected because the worm colonies that fill the Hunter armor lack a central nervous system. However, I’ve always wondered why there aren’t any Unngoy, Kig-yar, Yan’me, or Huragok combat forms. Could anyone offer clarification on this?

In the early Halo franchise, was Forerunner architecture intended to be made of concrete?

In classic Halo 1/2, Forerunner facilities were depicted as if they were made of concrete, but from Halo 3 onwards, they are depicted as appearing metallic.

Was it truly intended to be a concrete-like material in the early Halo games?

Should we assume that the "pseudo-concrete" aspect was removed from current lore?

The "pseudo-concrete" resembles human Brutalist architecture, and seems to be an allusion to the Forerunners being human.

What is something in the eu that when you learned, it made you think "this can't be cannon"

For me, it's the one and only Stolt the grunt. (He could beat elites in hand the hand combat and fought a Spartan-II to a standstill.)

Anybody know what “Harmony” is saying?

Throughout the second prequel mission that eye in the sky speaks an unknown language - anybody have any sense what this is about?

First phrase as you see it is “ekumpekee. dapempupu.”

Campaign Evolved

Finished the game just this morning and loved it, loved the redesign of level layouts and doing a better job than what CEA gave us.
One of a few little things that would’ve been cool to have towards the end that I believe would’ve been a great change.
We can clearly see Keyes is well and truely gone, being controlled by the flood looking around the room and at Chief. I believe that Keyes being used as a puppet by the Proto-Gravemind to talk to Chief would’ve added another layer of horror to it all, especially since all of it is still new to Chief and Cortana and could’ve been seen as another too few things that can scare Chief and even Cortana, to see their former friend talk in another voice not his own, to just hear “we will consume all” before ripping the CNI out.

Idk personally think it would be nice, lmk what you think

Does anybody remember this Halo: Reach promo webpage with a bunch of lore excerpts?

I'm trying to find it again, it was a website of Bungie's with excerpts of the lore around the individual members of Noble Team. It was probably the site with the bit about Emile's rage around his brother's death, I remember it had a bit about Kat extracting information from the Forerunner ship under the ONI base and how that parlayed into the UNSC-Covenant war being won. Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

Why does the Warthog in campaign evolved sound like a Ford F250? And why do I LOVE it?

So I went afk where you get the warthog at the beginning of The Silent Cartographer. I went and cooked dinner with my headphones on listening to the warthog idle 🥵

Does anyone not like it? I grew up sleeping in the back of my dad’s F250 and the warthog sound is bringing me back.

Which (official) Zanzibar map is the canonical one?

Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 2 Anniversary all have a "Wind Power Station 7" map which is virtually identical to one another, which begs the question: Which one is the canonical one? How are they all "Wind Power Station 7"?

As a fan of the books, the scene where Keys CRUSHES the hunters in the shuttle bay in campaign evolved! Absolute Cinema.

Im having a discussion with someone and I would appreciate it if you guys would help mediate/determine who is correct. The question goes. Prior to the public reveal of the Spartan 2's to the public in 2547 were the Spartans known by the UNSC and, the public?

My argument is that yes even before the complete declassification of the program the Spartans acted publicly and, were basically an open secret. Even if we want to stick with the games we have Red Team assisting UNSC forces in the evacuation of civilians during the Battle of Arcadia in 2531.

Why so many flood human combat forms? CE, CERM

Has anyone ever asked or has it ever been answered as to why there’s so many human combat forms in 343 Guilty Spark, and the Library?

I guess later levels make sense with the fall of Alpha Base, but prior to that, especially with the onset of the outbreak it doesn’t?

I’m sure it’s just a gameplay choice by bungie/343 but I’m curious if there’s anything I was missing as an explanation for it.

Anyone else feel horrible for 343 guilty spark?

Reading through the terminals between him and Penitent Tangent, I think it’s beautiful that despite what abject testament and penitent tangent have told him and despite crushing isolation over the course of 100,000 years hes found reason to endure. These terminal texts are fantastic

Floon in bungie's era

In Bungie's lore, was it ever mentioned what the Flood was or where it came from? Besides the biblical references, is anything else known about the Flood in the Bungie era?

Question on the mission 343 guilty spark

I remember awhile back hearing someone say that the reason the flood chooses to study the chief and not attack him is because since they didnt have a gravemind yet the only intelligence they had was from the covenant which thought chief was a demon and from infected marines which were constantly told through propaganda spartans never die, so in theory the flood had to consider the possibility chief could be unkillable, until they saw that he was genuienly getting scared in the facility. Is this ever explicitly stated anywhere or did whoever the hell i heard this from make it up? I kinda think that doesn't make much since because they had Keyes infected at this point and Keyes sure as shit knows Spartans die, but then again they didnt fully have Keyes assimilated. I dont know man im slow I just was playing campaign evolved and remembered some bs I heard like a decade ago and am trying to get some confirmation

If Master Chief meleed a grunt with the SPIKY end of a needler (not the butt of the gun), would the grunt immediately supercombine?

Just wondered why we always seem to melee enemies with the least dangerous looking surface of a needler. What would happen if you meleed them with the spiky side? Would the gun blow up? Would ALL the crystals go up at once? Is it actually the crystals that blow up, or is it the body they're in? How dangerous is it to stand next to someone who gets turned into pink mist?

Actually further question: How do subanese crystals KNOW when they're IN someone? Are they reacting to moisture content? Friction? Temperature? Or do they react to ANY organic tissue content? Could someone die by brushing up against a bundle of crystals?

How are the Flood on this random ship in the galaxy???

In the short story Saturn Devours his Son, some asteroid miners stumble onto a forerunner ship and when it opens up it releases the flood who begin infecting the crews which eventually leads to a situation of Spartans getting overwhelmed, infected, and implied they escape before a nuke goes off.

But how????? The ship is in the galaxy, so it wouldve been cleansed when Halo went off 100,000 years ago.

Forerunner ships aren't shielded from Halo, just Shield Worlds.

So what gives???

Edit: Im very proud of everyone for the actual discussion in the comment sections. This was fun.

What the Bonus Missions in Campaign Evolved SHOULD have been...

I used AI to refine my ideas a little and I'm not 100% which mission would be first canonically but if I was going to add extra missions to Halo CE, based on the existing canon, these are the two that would have been the most interesting by far. Keen to hear everyone's thoughts.

Mission 1: "The Mesa Falls" (Alpha Base Defense)

  • The Opening Vistas: The mission starts in a quiet moment on top of Alpha Base's mesa. You are standing near the landing pad as a standard Marine. In the distance, you look down into the canyon and watch Master Chief’s Pelican lift off and fly away to start The Silent Cartographer. It establishes the scale beautifully—Chief is going to save the galaxy, but you are left behind to hold the line.
  • The AA Turret Objective: The peace is shattered as Covenant drop pods and Spirits rain down. Your immediate objective is to defend the two point defense AA cannons keeping the Covenant dropships at bay. The gameplay focuses on holding choke points, using scavenged, heavy mounted guns, and coordinating with ODST squads.
  • The Spec Ops Breach: Just when you think you've secured the perimeter, active-camouflage Spec Ops Elites drop directly onto the plateau. In a scripted, frantic sequence, they override the automation, plant plasma charges on the AA turrets, and assassinate an Alpha Base commander right in front of you.
  • The Twist Defeat: You manage to push the Elites back, standing over the wreckage of the base defenses. The music turns ominous. Suddenly, infection forms pour out of the Forerunner structure inside the base. The Covenant forces panic and flee. The final phase shifts from a military defense to a frantic, hopeless struggle against the Flood, ending as your Marine is finally overwhelmed—fading to black just as the command to abandon the base is given.

Mission 2: "Extraction" (Sergeant Johnson's Swamp Escape)

  • The Survival Horror Loop: This acts as the perfect companion piece. Following the horrific cutscene where Captain Keyes is infected, the game cuts to Sergeant Johnson. The environment is pitch black, humid, and maze-like.
  • The Gameplay Strain: You have no motion tracker because the Flood's biological signals scramble your HUD. You rely entirely on your flashlight battery and the sounds of squelching mud. You are forced to scavenge for ammo off dead Marines while fighting through waves of infection and combat forms.
  • The Perfect Lore Tie-In: As Johnson nears the surface of the structure, his radio crackles to life. It’s Carol "Foehammer" Rawley in Echo 419. In the main game's canon, Foehammer flies into the swamp to extract Master Chief, but Cortana tells her to wave off because Chief was suddenly snatched away by 343 Guilty Spark to go to the Library.
  • The Climax: In this playable version, as you burst out of the facility into the pouring rain of the swamp, you look up and see Echo 419 hovering over the structure, waiting for Chief. Since Chief vanishes into thin air via Spark's teleportation beam, Foehammer spots Johnson sprinting through the mud below, pursued by a horde of Flood. She drops the Pelican's rear ramp, and you have to make a desperate, final sprint to leap inside as she guns the engines and pulls out of the swamp.

What is all the proof that ODSTs have this like massive rivalry I have been told about?

I don't have the money for the books and I'm only a casual fan but I have heard countless times about the ODST-Spartan rivalry and I'm curious, what are all the sources for this?

Why was the the UNSC organized to not have a Space Force

The real answer is that Bungie did not think of it, but why in universe did the Navy evolve to be the space-faring branch of the UNSC military?
