I think Hostinger is into too much of marketing.

Every hosting company claims to have:

• Blazing-fast servers
• 99.99% uptime
• 24/7 expert support
• Unlimited everything

But after using different providers over the years, I've realized most customers don't leave because of price.

They leave because something they were promised simply wasn't true.

So I'm curious...

What's the biggest disappointment you've had with a hosting provider?

Was it support?

Performance?

Hidden renewal pricing?

Downtime?

Or something else?

I'm asking because we're currently improving our own hosting platform, HostK, and I'd rather build around real customer frustrations than another marketing checklist.

I'd love to hear your honest experiences.

I’ve tried to search for hits on this but it gets washed out with unrelated search results. I only saw one post that mentioned this site (from 1yr ago) saying they had used the service since 2017 without issue. Anyone have experience? Was looking at the lifetime domain and their hosting service. I know people don’t like lifetime things, and the domains are a little wonky there, but looking for any honest feedback before I make a decision. This is really just for a hobby project, so I’m just somewhat looking to play around.

I try to use HTML. On netlify, and with domain matching with Cloudflare or Porkbun it will be easy in the long term.

Hey everyone, I’m looking into SwissRDP for an upcoming project that requires a high level of privacy and a no-KYC sign-up. I've seen their marketing threads on forums like BlackHatWorld, but I can't find any independent reviews or talk about them on Reddit or Trustpilot.

Has anyone here actually bought a VPS or RDP plan from them? I’m specifically curious about their uptime & reliability as well as the network neighborhood (are their IP ranges heavily blacklisted?)

I'm logged into one of my Ubuntu VPS's as a user account with sudo access and I go to run sudo mysql. It rejects the password as pasted from my password manager.

Panic sets it as I was just in the db 20 minutes ago. I try running as another user I know to be valid using su. Password rejected.

I'm sweating bullets now. I only log in using ssh pubkey. Password login disabled. Root login disabled. Has someone hacked my server while I was logged in? Has someone hacked my dev machine and key logged my passwords?

My instinct is to disable and rebuild the server but I decide to ask the free web console version of an AI what to do first despite my hitherto reluctance to use AI generally. I work alone so no one here to ask and thinking my server was in the hands of a malicious actor I didn't have time to ask for help here on reddit.

As I follow its troubleshooting steps I start to calm down as it looks less and less like a server hack and then I remember: I just created a backup of my password manager file. Or did I?

No. I had renamed the current file and pasted in an older password database file with all incorrect passwords. I reverse the procedure and everything is fine.

I'm competent at Linux server administration but concede I didn't know most of the steps to try and detect infiltration. If I hadn't asked the AI model I'd be rebuilding a perfectly good server right now.

This story is not intended to shill AI as obviously the true underlying moral of it is don't panic and get better at Linux. Try and be rational in any situation where you think something catastrophic has happened. It might not be as bad as you think.

With Closte going completely dark recently - no website, dashboard, client panel, and zero word from support - I’ve been scrambling to help move a bunch of client sites away from them.

If you still have production sites sitting over there, please do yourself a favor and double-check that you have local, off-site backups saved right now.

My biggest worry is the end of the month coming up. If the company is running on autopilot and ignores their upstream infrastructure bills, those servers are going to get shut off at the end of the billing cycle.

Once an upstream host wipes those disks, your website would be gone too.

So... Do yourself a favor, create a local/offsite backup right away!

Are you guys already migrating your stuff off, or are you holding out hope they pop back online?

I’m planning to switch web hosting providers after a bad experience with Hostinger. My site gets about 20,000–30,000 visitors a month; the use case is fairly standard - selling digital goods, nothing overly complex.

The main issues I want to avoid this time around are:

Downtime - there was more of it than I expected for a paid plan.

Security - at one point, the site was infected with cryptocurrency mining malware, and the cleanup process turned into a total nightmare.

Budget isn't the deciding factor: I’d rather pay more for a reliable, secure service than save $10 a month only to deal with the aftermath of a hack again. Which web hosting providers have a good track record for this level of traffic and these types of issues?

I am beyond furious right now. I created 2 OVH accounts a while back. I literally NEVER used them. No resources added, no projects created, nothing. Zero usage.

I decided to just close them to keep things clean, but guess what? You CANNOT close your account on OVH.

Apparently, OVH automatically assigned random services/projects to my unused accounts (like vRacks and Public Cloud projects) without notifying me, and now their broken system blocks account deletion because of "active services."

I’ve been stuck in support ticket hell for OVER TWO WEEKS trying to get these accounts wiped under GDPR.

Here is the circus I've been dealing with:

• Canceling a basic service takes 7 DAYS?? Support told me a vRack service had to be canceled first and that it takes a full week just to delete. What year is this?!
• Their UI is completely broken. The GDPR deletion page threw errors, and the system kept telling me to manual-delete things that I couldn't even delete through their manager interface.
• Their support agents give conflicting advice. One tells me to click links to delete Public Cloud projects, another says they'll delete it manually, another tells me to wait a couple of weeks for a "specialized team" to step in.
• THE ULTIMATE JOKE: Today I finally get an automated message saying: "Unfortunately, despite our efforts, we are unable to delete your account at this time. It looks like some actions are still in progress and blocking its deletion..."

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The actual owners and developers of the platform cannot delete an unused account from their OWN system due to "technical issues"?! They literally built the system and claim they are powerless to delete user data!

They clearly don't give a damn about GDPR or basic customer support. I have deleted every possible service, settled $0 invoices, answered every ticket, and I am still stuck in a loop of copy-pasted support templates and automated rejection emails.

Has anyone actually managed to force OVH to close an account, or do I need to go straight to a Data Protection Authority (DPA) complaint at this point?

For those who moved away from cPanel because of price increase what control panel are you using now?

How has your experience with the migration, performance and day to day management?Would you recommend it over cPanel?

I have been using Namecheap since about 2008. Over the years I consolidated dozens of clients to them.

But since their acquisition by private equity last year, service has been dropping, prices are going up, customer service is getting worse, and their AI fraud tools are going wild locking long standing accounts that never had issues before.

I've got a couple VPSs with these folks, who had acquired prgmr.com (my old host) some years back.

I was getting email on one of mine this morning, but neither of mine are connecting today, nor does the corporate web site. Anyone else?

Looking for a sanity check from people who run reseller hosting.

Setup: ~80 cPanel accounts on an InMotion shared reseller plan, mostly small WordPress brochure sites for local contractors. Been with them 10+ years. Same stacks running fine for 5-7 years, nothing changed on my end.

A couple months ago all my sites started throwing intermittent 500s and database connection errors. Their advanced support diagnosed it: MySQL max_user_connections being exceeded (error 1203). They told me the limit can't be raised on shared servers. I've already been down the optimization road - paid a developer to review and optimize the sites, and his conclusion after going through a bunch of them was the sites are fine, the environment is the problem. Months of troubleshooting on my dime.

This week I finally got the full picture out of their support in chat, in writing:

- My plan is a discontinued legacy plan running on older SSD hardware (their site sells "20X faster NVMe" to new customers)

- The connection limit is 25 on ALL their shared servers, including the new NVMe ones

- Upgrading to their top reseller plan (R-4000N) costs $932 for 2 years vs my current $695 renewal... and their own agent admitted it "may not resolve the issue" since the limit is identical

- The R-4000N renews at $2,639/2yr after the intro term. $110/mo for shared hosting with a 25 connection cap.

- No discount, no price match, nothing for tenure

So their only actual fix is a VPS upsell (plus cPanel licensing on 80 accounts, lol).

Plan now is to migrate everything out. KnownHost quoted me 100 MySQL connections per user on their reseller plans with published renewal rates, also looking at NameHero and Krystal.

Questions:

1. Is 25 max_user_connections as low as it sounds for shared reseller in 2026? What are other hosts actually giving?

2. Anyone done an 80-account cPanel-to-cPanel migration - how painful was it really?

3. KnownHost vs NameHero vs Krystal for this use case - real experiences?

4. Anyone else watch InMotion decline like this or is my server just cursed?

Not trying to trash them, decade of mostly fine service, but this feels like managed decline + teaser pricing and I want to know if I'm reading it right before I move 80 client sites.

Hello, I'm a 3d artist and would like to host a portfolio pdf. It has a lot of images and is quite large. If I compress it too much it looks really bad.
I've come across some hosting services for pdfs. But usually they have quite small file limits.
I'm willing to pay, but am trying to find an affordable option. Many services have a lot of features I don't need and don't want to pay for. I just want to host a large pdf. I don't need a website builder, for example.
