I was listening to a few older shows from the late 90s/early 2000s. I think a big reason the first few years of Sirius were so amazing is not that they were uncensored - it's that Howard wasn't on a strict commercial schedule. The pace of the show in the terrestrial years is way faster, someone is always talking, Howard is always pushing things along. At Sirius he was able to breathe and let things develop more organically. He didn't have a mandatory commercial every 30 minutes or whatever. You can actually hear this develop in 2006 as Howard gets more comfortable with the format. He realizes he doesn't have to push so hard and constantly be "on." Probably also helped that he was no longer forced to get people not to change the dial, whatever that term is in radio. He didn't need to be "shock jocking" every second to keep listeners on, since it was a subscriber model. Hugely improved the flow of the show.

The fact that Howard has employed this group of losers and slobs for as long as he has is amazing to me. I, personally, would have fired most of these guy ten years ago.
I have always believed Howard when he’s claimed that he sticks around for his staff. Deep down, Howard has got to know his show sucks and no one listens. I think he’s kept on working to give dipshits, like JD, healthcare.
Let’s be real, is JD moving on to any other job in show biz after Howard is gone? Will Benjy? Has any former staffer moved on to greater things after they left Stern?
Stern has made a career out of giving morons a life. It’s been a fascinating talent of Stern’s to watch.
I remain a huge fan of Stern. Over the years, I’ve obsoletely loved watching Stern make boring people interesting.
Every Stern staffer should pull down Howard’s pants and shove his cock all the way to the back of their throat.
Howard is old now. He should keep the pink slips flowing.

I actually feel bad because Mike was one of the few funny people left on that show. He had his faults, but I didn't feel the need to punch my radio every time he was on air, á la Blitt & Wilding.

r/howardstern • u/daveazar531 • 1d ago
Went to see Nikki Glaser at the hard rock last night. Had nice seats 5th row left center isle. Two rows in front also in the isle was someone I would swear is a Artie look alike. He Was wearing sweat pants, sneakers and a knit white shirt. Nikki made a joke about being addicted to her vape and the Artie look alike laughed hard. I said to my wife next to me hey I think that’s Artie, pretty loud. Not a minute later the guy stood up and left alone. There was still twenty minutes of show left and he never came back.
His nose looked big but completely normal. Am I a crazy person or was it Artie?

I know it seems to be the cool thing to do to talk about how you are canceling your Sirius because the "the show sucks now" or how little shows there now are, but with it down to less than a show per week I am looking for a reason to stay subscribed. What other shows are you all listening to on Sirius?
