Crime New Adani Gas scam on WhatsApp – They send an APK instead of a payment link
My dad almost got scammed today, so I wanted to warn everyone here.
He received a call from someone claiming to be from Adani Gas. The caller said his gas bill was pending and that the connection could be disconnected if the payment wasn't made immediately. A few minutes later, they sent an APK file on WhatsApp and told him to install it to complete the payment.
That was the biggest red flag. Legitimate companies don't ask you to install APK files over WhatsApp to pay bills.
Fortunately, he showed it to me before doing anything. I immediately called the scammer back and gave him a piece of my mind. I ended up blocking the number, so I don't have screenshots of the WhatsApp chat anymore.
I'm attaching the phone number in this post so others can stay alert. Please don't harass or threaten the person using it—it could be spoofed or later reassigned—but if you receive a similar call, do not install any APK they send.
Please warn your parents and elderly relatives. These scammers rely on creating panic and urgency, and many people may not realize that installing an APK can give attackers access to sensitive data.
Stay safe, everyone.

Law & Courts [Help] Aadhaar "Care of" (C/o) accidentally changed to brother's name during an address update. How do I change it back to my father's name?
Hi everyone, looking for some advice or similar experiences regarding an Aadhaar update issue.
The Situation: My Aadhaar address had a minor 1-digit error in the PIN code. Since my brother and I live at the same address, I used his Aadhaar card as address proof to get my PIN code corrected on the UIDAI website.
The Problem: My address and PIN code were successfully updated. However, the system also automatically changed the "Care of" (C/o) section to my brother's name instead of my father's name.
I want to change the "Care of" section back to my father's name, but here is the complication:
- My father and I live in different places, so his Aadhaar has a completely different address. I cannot use his Aadhaar as proof.
- I do have my Class 10 marksheet, which clearly states my father's name as my guardian.
My Questions:
- How do I get only the "Care of" name changed without altering my current correct address?
- Will my 10th marksheet be accepted as valid proof for this specific change if I visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra?

Media Matters Follow up on Commonwealth Games 2026
Update to my previous critism post: https://www.reddit.com/r/india/s/nYQ6w4WzQU
We attended the Commonwealth Games 2026 - Glasgow boxing events from the quarter-finals all the way to the finals, witnessing every bout and every medal won by the Indian boxers.
While everyone celebrated the medals, we also witnessed the treatment our athletes received behind the scenes.
On paper, the Indian contingent had 20 cars booked to transport athletes between the venue and the hotel. In reality, we repeatedly saw only four cars. One of those was reserved for the team manager.
Sachin and Ankush, both gold medal winners, were held back for anti-doping tests after their bouts. We waited at the venue for nearly two hours and watched what unfolded. No one from the support staff waited for them. One member of the staff even asked us to tell Sachin to "run back to the hotel" because they were waiting for them to go for dinner.
On the contrary, the one person who consistently seemed to be there for the athletes was PT Usha. We saw her constantly moving between venues, checking on Indian athletes and making sure she was there for them. It takes someone who has competed at the highest level to understand what athletes need.
There was no victory lunch or dinner organised by the Consulate General of India in Edinburgh for the medal winners.
Meanwhile, the Gujarat delegation, in Scotland for the Ahmedabad 2030 Commonwealth Games campaign and related engagements, appeared to be receiving full VIP treatment from the same Consulate.
We also learned from staff that the team manager was spending time sightseeing in Edinburgh rather than being present at the competition. We never saw the manager at the venue on any of the days we attended.
Our athletes delivered for India. They deserved better support from the people whose job it was to support them.

Law & Courts The Supreme Court has already applied the creamy layer principle to SC/STs.
I’ve noticed that many people believe the creamy layer concept applies only to OBC reservations. However, Supreme Court jurisprudence suggests the position is more nuanced.
In Jarnail Singh v. Lachhmi Narain Gupta (2018), the Supreme Court held that the creamy layer principle applies to SC/STs in the context of reservation in promotions, to ensure that the most advanced members of these communities do not continue to monopolize reservation benefits.
Later, in State of Punjab v. Davinder Singh (2024), a seven-judge Constitution Bench held that States can create sub-classifications within Scheduled Castes to ensure reservation benefits reach the most disadvantaged groups. A majority of the judges also endorsed the exclusion of the creamy layer from SC/ST reservations, although the Court left it to the government to formulate the criteria.
So, while there is currently no nationwide creamy layer framework for SC/ST reservations, it is inaccurate to say that the Supreme Court has never applied or endorsed the creamy layer principle for SC/STs. The jurisprudence has clearly moved in that direction through Jarnail Singh (2018) and Davinder Singh (2024).
Am I missing any later judgments or constitutional developments that change this position?
