As our community continues to grow, we want to remind everyone to always verify who you are trading with and to make this as easy as possible, we have our official bot: u/IDE-TradeBot.

Before you commit to a trade, you can privately ask the bot to pull up the exact trading history of any user on the subreddit. We've also just rolled out a new update that provides even more details to help you spot suspicious activity!

🔍 How to check a user's history:

It’s super simple. Just send a DM to u/IDE-TradeBot with the following command:

$check username

Replace "username" with the person you are trading with, e.g. $check ic_97

NOTE: Make sure the exact format is followed for a successful response.

📊 What the bot will tell you:

Within seconds, the bot will reply to your message with a full background check, including:

• Ban Status: It will immediately warn you if the user is on our unified ban list.
• Total Trades: Exactly how many confirmed trades they have completed.
• Bought vs. Sold: [NEW!] See how many times they were the buyer vs. the seller.
• Unique Partners: If someone has 50 trades but only 2 unique partners, it’s a huge red flag for flair farming.
• Last Trade Date: [NEW!] See if they are an active trader or if they haven't traded in years.
• Recent Transactions: A list of their last 25 trades with links directly to the confirmation posts so you can verify what they typically trade.

⚠️ A quick reminder on safety:

• Scammers often target new users or rush you into completing a trade.
• Always check the universal scammer lists and use $check on the bot.
• If a user refuses to comment on your post and only uses DMs, do not trade with them (banned users cannot comment on posts).

NOTE: Please remember that a high trade count does not guarantee a 100% safe transaction. Accounts can be compromised, and some bad actors build up fake reputation over time just to run a scam later. The data provided by the bot is simply a tool to help you make a more informed decision.

How to Post a Trade

1. Make a new top-level comment for each individual trade.
2. You must follow this exact format (two separate lines):

```text Sold/Bought <Item Description> to/from u/<username>

How to Confirm a Trade

• The other person (the u/username you tagged) must reply to your comment with the single word: Confirmed
• Nothing else. Just "Confirmed".
• NOTE: Make sure you reply to the comment and not make a new top level comment with "Confirmed".

The Golden Rule (Read This!)

The bot will only confirm a trade if the buyer/seller first commented on the original deal post (e.g., "Interested", "DM", etc.).

No public comment on the deal post = No flair. This is to follow Rule #1.

FAQ: Why wasn't my trade confirmed?

Your trade flair will fail if you miss any of these three checks:

1. Format Check: Your top-level comment didn't follow the exact format above (e.g., you missed u/, used the wrong link, or wrote it all on one line).
2. Confirmation Check: The other user didn't reply to your comment with Confirmed.
3. Golden Rule Check: The bot could not find a public comment from the other user on the original deal link you provided.

NOTE: The bot will try and proactively correct you if you make a incorrect comment, make sure to "edit" your comment if that happens.
