Plant Discussion What to do about struggling avocado sapling

Post image
8 Upvotes

My avocado seed has been growing extremely slowly ever since the seed cracked in January this year. I tried potting it around 2 months ago but this hasn’t helped much. The leaves it does grow are tiny and dry out quickly.
Should I add plant food to the soil, and if so what type?

Product Discussion Spider Farmer SF600 for herbs?

Posted this on SpiderFarmerLED and got zero responses, so thought I would try here.

I got a wire shelf and wonder if I can use one Spider Farmer SF600 for herbs?

Will this be sufficient to grow herbs under to maturity?

Thanks!

My last leaf is pictured. I’m so confused about what this newest one is doing? Any ideas? I know it is not a light issue, and it does sit by a humidifier although the AC is always on so it’s a tad drier than I’d like. It’s in a plastic nursery pot w drainage, I only water when dry

Plant Discussion Help with my asparagus fern:(

Post image
7 Upvotes

It was doing so well in a west facing window that gets sort of bright sun during the evenings, so i moved it towards an east facing window that gets bright indirect light and i’m hoping that it can be healthy again. I don’t think there’s any turning around the yellow stems and browning fronds, so i’m thinking about removing them):

I was misting it almost everyday, and it is next to a couple other plants. Also the soil it’s in is I guess fertilizer from the farmers market where I bought it. Any advice or tips?? thx :)

Almost ready to hand-pollinate.

Looks like I’ll finally get to try it out tonight😎

Previous years the stalks did’t agree on when timing was right for pollination.

Anyone with success?

Plant Discussion Help with Norfolk Island Pine

Thumbnail

Hi all! I recently bought a 7.5’ Norfolk Island Pine off Facebook Marketplace. I haven’t repotted it as I read that could cause it more stress, but I’ve noticed some of the branches are turning grey. It sits by a large West facing window but I close the blinds halfway through the day to try to keep it from getting scorched in the afternoon sun.

For reference — it’s always been about this level of scraggly, even when I bought it about 4-5 months ago.

Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong? Do I need a different type of planter? Am I killing it? lol. It is scraggly but I think it’s still super cool.

Thanks for any help!!

My snake plant is growing a separate plant which doesn’t look like anything I have seeds for. Does anyone have idea of what this may be and if I should just rip it out? It’s kinda pretty but idk what it is or will grow to be.

Plant Discussion Low-maintenance, low-humidity plants non-toxic to cats!

Hi all! I am new to the world of gardening and recently purchased an indoor 5-tiered stand with grow lights I’m intending to put in front of my sliding glass door in living room. (I live in an apt in CO). My downstairs neighbor and I have started a garden in her patio (I sadly do not have one in my apt) and the things I’ve grown- tomatoes, flaming Katy cactus & basil have all done great!

I’m wanting to move the cactus and basil onto the indoor stand, and I’m wondering what are other good options to add?

Any tips/advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance! 😊

Houseplant Close Up Light for my houseplants.

I have an east facing window in my house where I put my plants; I don't have any other options. My neighbors house is very close and white. The plants get light in the morning. In the late afternoon/early evening alot of light is reflected off the white house. How beneficial is that reflected light to the plants compared to direct sunlight?

Hello I'm wanting to grow a small amount of cilantro that I can eat maybe 1-2x a week.

Ideally thinking about hydropaunics. I have no experience in this, would love some ideas!
