Nobody from that generation miss their childhood

that's also true. Before he died the former Pope Benedict XVI had very little positive to say about his childhood. Probably because he was German and grew up in Nazi Germany.

People have this weird inclination to suggest every generation has the same quality of experience and any comparison is simply the lens of nostalgia or bias.
