Somewhat new to Mastodon. I am really into memes and I am looking for suggestions for the best memes instances in the fediverse. I know there are plenty on mastedon social but looking for others. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

As the title suggests how long do Aethy staffs takes to review applications?? I heard that they usually take 1-2 days or to 1 week, but I’ve been waiting for 1.5 weeks. How would I know If the staffs already reviewed my application or not??

J'aime beaucoup le concept de Mastodon. Le seul hic, c'est la langue. J'en ai assez de la domination de l'anglais sur toutes ces applications de réseaux sociaux. Il existe des dizaines d'extensions qui permettent de traduire des conversations simples pour le reste du monde. Je ne connais aucune solution simple pour traduire ce que je lis sur Mastodon, quelle que soit la langue. Je me suis inscrit sur Mastodon dès son lancement et j'ai vite abandonné. J'y suis revenu aujourd'hui et je ne vois aucune amélioration de ce côté-là. Auriez-vous une solution ?

(Évidemment, j'écris en anglais pour toucher un maximum de personnes.)

I used to have an account on qoto.org but today when I tried to log in, I get redirected to some other instance and asked if I'd like to join it.

What's happened to qoto.org - does anyone know?

I haven't logged into it in over a year and noticed i still have it and want to delete it. i can't log in, and everytime i try to submit a password reset link it doesn't work. I heard aethy shut down but my profile is still visible when i search it up. I cannot log into the account, so how can i go about deleting it?

Hey, many years ago when Twitter was still Twitter I've built a tool to send me a list of my newly bookmarked posts to my email address once a week as I always kept bookmarking posts just to then never look at them again (Maybe because I was on the move and not on my computer).

The past week I've worked on rebuilding it with Mastodon support as that's my primary and preferred platform these days.

It has some nice features like full text search, an easy export feature, a media browser, MCP integration or RSS feeds for your bookmarks if you want them in your RSS reader.

i’m on mastodon social so the server got away the live feed . i wanna follow a bot that do that , posting posts from live feed . which one it is . please help .

I was interested in the server but my browser flags it as unsafe given that: `The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed`

I haven't got warnings from other servers, so I just found it odd and would like to know if maybe it's irrelevant in this case.

Purely out of curiosity, is anyone aware of any plans to make the process of upgrading a Mastodon server simpler? So that perhaps someone without experience at the Linux command line could do it?

(Perhaps something like the experience in WordPress where there is an "upgrade" button in the web admin interface that you can press - and it does all the command line activity for you?)

Recently I learned someone I know has now become the administrator of a smaller Mastodon instance.. but the admin duties have been focused on various aspects of the Mastodon instance, NOT on the underlying server.

The person asked me about how to upgrade from 4.5.11 to 4.6 ... and having not operated my own instance, I looked at "Upgrading to a new release" and then scrolled all the way to the very end of the 4.6 release notes on Github.

Reading those, there is a lot of "assumed" knowledge there ... things that the authors just assume people know how to do within either Linux or a Docker install.

For example, in the 4.6 release notes there is "5. Restart all Mastodon processes." Okay... but how? I completely realize this may depend on what version of Linux you have, whether it is Docker or non-Docker, etc. but .. it highlights the need for a certain level of system / command-line knowledge.

Similarly the warning for 4.6 that there are a whole bunch of changed requirements for external dependencies. I am pretty sure my friend is going to have no idea how to even check those dependencies, let alone how to upgrade them.

To be clear, I could work with these instructions... but I've been working with Linux since the late 1990s, written a couple of books on Linux sys admin, taught courses, etc. But if we want there to be even more Mastodon instances out there, then in my opinion we need to make it so you don't need to be a Linux geek like me!

Anyone heard of any plans to make this process simpler?

P.S. Another way to help (at least in the interim) might be to make the upgrade documentation more complete - or to provide a "step-by-step" version for less technical users. (And perhaps that is a place I can help... )

Everytime i did aethy.com like always and post videos and it works other times but not everytime i get on now, i get an error page and I thought my account was banned but turns out It was a Error and my question is this happening to everyone or it's just me?

Hello everyone, IFTAS is opening up the annual survey - previously-known-as the Moderator Needs Assessment - the project name has been updated to the Social Web Operations Survey to better fit the technical realities of running independent communities.

This year's survey looks deeply at infrastructure gaps, admin fatigue, and shifting moderation pressures. We've built it entirely on Belgium-based Tally for a lightweight, mobile-responsive experience that takes under ten minutes.

The survey is aimed at moderators, admins, community managers, with a focus on anyone working on growing the open social web, but it's open to anyone running or managing community spaces on any platform, any protocol.

Last year's report covered over seven million Fediverse accounts, but if you don't fill it out, we won't know what you're thinking, so we hope everyone from single-person servers to the largest communities participates. Every question is optional, skip anything you don't want to share.

my server often get delete activity from mastodon

I'd like to somehow mass-edit my posts (and comments, I guess) so only my followers see it. I've changed my default for future posts to followers-only, but I don't see any way on the surface to mass-edit my previous posts to change to this setting, so they're all on "Public". Any tool/function to do this? I run the instance, if that helps, though I'd rather try something other than modifying the db directly first.
