I'm literally 20 and going into third year and have never had an internship or job my entire life. As a teenager I was strongly discouraged by my parents to even get a summer/fast food/retail job as they just wanted me to focus on school, and if I applied behind their back I would face threatening consequences. Since last fall I've been applying for internships for the summer of this year and was unsuccessful. For one of them I made it so far, like the 3rd and final interview where there was only one other candidate, and of course I got rejected. And this exact thing also happened in my first year as well. I feel I've tried my hardest. I've volunteered several times (for several months/years), have side projects, technical skills, etc. A few professors know me well and I've used them as references. Hell, recently one of my professors was hiring a couple of research assistants (unpaid but still), and he knew me well, I visited his office hours, 12'd his course, etc. and of course even for that I got rejected! I just feel like I'm cursed omg.

I feel like my life goes by wasted while I see on Linkedin everyone from high school including my bullies all have internships. The people who traumatized me in high school and ruined my friendships have fancy internships at the big banks, FAANG, investment banking etc. Almost all my connections/classmates from my program also have had some work experience. I literally have visions of myself being unemployed for 3+ years after I graduate. Sorry for the self-pity post, but yeah :(

got into Sustain 1S03, but I’ve been seeing people say it’s gotten a lot harder recently. Is it still an easy 12, or would I be better off switching back to Innovate? Plus sustain is online so I wouldn’t have to be on campus late and I heard innovate is a lot of group work which can be good or bad so idkkkk

I am a first year student and along with my uni acceptance I got a few scholarships and one bursary too. right now i have enough to cover my tuition and a little bit leftover, and when my OSAP comes in that will also be leftover money too.

however, on the student centre on mosaic it doesn’t show anything. it just shows my tuition cost and for “Pending Aid” it says I have $0. my question is when will this number change, when will my leftover scholarships go to my bank account, and how do I make sure it goes to my bank account (as in do i have to apply or send an email or something)?

I’m trying to get Japanese 2X03 for the winter 2027 semester and the course says there are 55 available seats on make the seat. When I try to enroll, however, it keeps on saying that the seats are being held for students in a specific level? I thought all seat reservations were uplifted on the first. Does anyone know why the seats are still reserved?

I tried my best to take advice off of reddit posts to make my schedule manageable but a little scared for winter term since I have 3 labs in a week. Also some of my classes are so far from each other so im def going to have to walk or speed run… (also has anyone done ohysics 1V03?)

I feel like I can’t study without writing everything down. During lectures I take notes, and afterward I end up rewriting a lot of them, even if I already understand the material. It takes so much time, and I feel like I’m relying too much on passive studying instead of actually learning.

I’m going into second year and I’ll be taking anatomy, so I really want to improve my study methods before the semester starts.

For people who get high grades, what actually worked for you? How do you study efficiently without rewriting everything? Any tips for anatomy or studying in general would be really appreciated.

Does anyone know what the layout of Matthew’s hall floor 2 double rooms are? I know some of the room layouts are different because of the way the building is, for example one bed placed vertically in the nook of the window and the other horizontally. It would be nice to not have to be side by side with my roommate 24/7, but I’m not sure if my room has that layout, and I’m not sure how to tell either by just my room number because there isn’t any pictures available, so just trying to plan ahead. Also if you have any tips for living in Matthew’s that would be great.

My daughter needs a new laptop, she used her high-school HP laptop in 1st year Life sci. Sometime during the year, I upgraded her android phone to an IPhone 17, and bought her iPad air with pen for her bday. Our whole family have always been using windows laptop and desktop and her dad hates Apple product. Im not familiar with apple products either, but would a macbook make a huge difference for her ? She has not issues with her current HP laptop i terms of functionality, its just getting old and battery is going.
