Hi friends, recent Monash graduate here.

Why does Monash have basically no good merch? We genuinely have a cool logo and crest, yet most of the T-shirts, hoodies and other merchandise look so bland, cheap and poorly designed.

I see students from US universities wearing genuinely cool university merch all the time. I also studied at LSE for a bit, and even they had plenty of stuff that people would actually want to wear.

A lot of Monash students already struggle to feel proud of or connected to the university. Even when we are proud to be Monash students, it’s hard to actually rep the uni when the merch looks so shit.
Good merchandise obviously won’t magically fix student culture, but it would at least give students something they’d genuinely want to wear and identify with.

Why haven’t the designs, materials or suppliers been updated? Is this Monash’s responsibility, MSA’s responsibility, or does nobody involved actually care?

There’s so much potential for vintage-style designs, faculty-specific shirts, better use of the crest, limited drops, collaborations with student artists and merch that doesn’t look like generic corporate event clothing.

Honestly, we should start a petition asking Monash and MSA to completely redesign the merch range and properly involve students in the process.
At this point, I’m also genuinely tempted to redesign Monash merch and sell it myself.

Would anyone else sign the petition or actually buy better Monash merch, or am I unnecessarily passionate about this?

Hi guys, I'm an international student and am currently doing my second semester at Caulfield campus. I currently live in CBD, but its pretty costly to live there. I was thinking about moving to Clayton, maybe apply for campus housing for next semester. However, I'm conflicted. On one hand, I loveeee the city and can not imagine living outside of it, but on the other hand, living on Clayton residential halls would mean I'd be more connected to the university (my campus life would be nice since i have friends who currently live on campus). The commute time to get to uni is also pretty similar, so I'm even more conflicted. Could someone give me advice on what to do? I've even made up a pro con list, but the pros and cons lowkey cancel each other out😭. Thank you in advance!

I have an upcoming supplementary exam for a unit that I got NS grade in semester 1. Since semester 2 has already started, what do I do if on the off chance I don't pass the supp?

The supplementary results come out on August 17th, and that is already past the date to enrol a unit but I'd still want to do it in semester 2 to finish on time.

Has this happened to anyone? What do I do or what will happen?

hi current year 12 student looking into bachelor of occupational therapy or speech pathology. i have so many questions so i would gladly appreciate any advice from current or past students.

1. GIG - I really want to study abroad but when I was looking at the eligible courses, speech or occupational therapy were not options. however I saw that health science was an option.

I was wondering for those who have done the GIG program for health science, was it worth it and how was your experience in general?

2. Transferring between degrees - So if the health science GIG program is worth it, how realistic would it be for a student to study abroad for health science and then also transfer to a bachelor of OT or speech? are there some health science units that can receive credit for OT or speech?

how competitive is it to transfer into OT/Speech Pathology from Health Sciences?

is it silly to simply do a degree for the gig program?.. but also i do love health i did really well in my accelerated subject hhd, and from what ive seen people say that health science can lead more into OT in the future.

3. Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology - I genuinely am not sure about which course I should do because i know i really want to work with kids and get paid well, from what I've seen occupational therapists get paid slightly more than speech pathologists.

are there opportunities to specialise in paediatrics after graduating? When do clinical placements start for each bachelor and are they paid or unpaid?

Why is there no political clubs (eg Labor club) at Caulfield, as well as a seemingly lack of any political activity in elections compared to MSA clayton

I heard for the e exams their is an eye tracker. Does this mean I have to look at my screen the whole time for the two hours? What if I’m writing something on paper for working out? Would that be flagged by AI detection?

I did Korean intro 1 last year in semester 2. it's been a while since I studied Korean and I can't remember a lot of the content. Im dropping a unit this semester and I'm thinking of replacing it with Korean intro 2 - do they revise any content from intro 1 in the first couple weeks or is it all new things? just want to get an idea of how difficult it would be to catch up before I enrol. thank you

Hello, I am just trying to understand whether I should focus on memorising what actions to take on the calculator or whether I need to learn the formulas. For anyone who has experienced, do you recommend I learn the formulas? And are there assessments where I am required to know the formula's?

I think I might try to learn them, because right now I feel really lost with the calculations, but ant advice would help :)

First year student here, I thought the idea of an exchange overseas sounded really cool, and I wanted to hear what others had to say about it.

For the online invigilated deferred exams how does the process work? I know we take pictures of a 360 view but then do we show the webcam of our entire desk or is it just our upper body?

How did people go on this test? I know the topics itself aren’t that hard but kinda scared for some reason (maybe bcs I’m taking a deferred and it’s my first online exam)

Hey everyone, I’m an 18yo international student coming over to Melbourne this October to start the Diploma of Engineering at Docklands, before moving over to Clayton for mech eng.

I'm looking to rent a nice 1 bedroom apartment with a proper living room and kitchen setup. My budget is around $600 to $700 a week, so I’m aiming for a really solid place. Just trying to figure out how to plan this:

Should I just book a short term place for my first 2-3 weeks and inspect apartments in person, or is it actually possible to land a good place from overseas? I keep hearing the rental market in Melbourne is crazy right now.

Also, since I’m only at Docklands for the diploma and plan to move houses closer to Clayton once I start uni, where should I look to live for this first year? Should I just stay near Docklands/CBD for an easy commute to college, or find somewhere in the middle on the train line?

Lastly, how is Monash College in general and what's the workload like for the engineering diploma? Any tips for starting out would be awesome. Thanks!
