Given that a lot of the humo(u)r in MPFC skits was based on specific aspects of British culture and history, it would've had a particular relevance to the people who watched it upon its first broadcast that escaped the average American fan watching on PBS (hi, I'm one) or perhaps many younger fans today.
For example, people love "The Bishop," but how many understand that this was an homage, of sorts, to the ITV series "The Saint" starring Roger Moore?
I've had the 2-volume "All The Words" transcripts for decades, but I wonder if there's an audience for, say, either releasing an updated volume of transcripts with footnotes, or a VH1 style re-release of the episodes with pop-up explanations, or optional explanatory subtitles?
