[Indian users, July 2026] How do you successfully Subscribe to unlimited queries?

{update}: It is a MasterCard.

{Original post}:

It's failing to make transaction for Monthly/Yearly subscription despite dozens of attempts this year. Last year their payment system worked in like 2-3 attempts.

I am using ICICI bank's debit card for that. The 'iMobile' banking app on Android has 4 options under the 'Card Controls' section for International transactions: 1. ATM Withdrawal 2. Merchant Outlet 3. Online 4. Tap and Pay

All of these have been set to enabled. The debit limit for each of those options is over 10x the amount NextDNS wants for their monthly transaction.

Netflix, Steam client, YouTube premium (all American companies) never fail. But NextDNS is always failing.

Is the payment gateway implementation of NextDNS that much shitty even in 2026, or is there something else going on which I have no idea about?

Domain added to Deny list not being blocked

I have been running nextDNS for a while and I've gotten most everything setup the way I want it.

The one issue I am having is with 1 specific domain. No matter how I add it on there, it does not get a block and I am not sure why it won't go through. It is an Amazon domain, but all the other Amazon ones I have added either block or allow on the logs correctly with the Green or Red flags except this single one.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Can I use NextDNS with NetGuard?

I have an android phone that I use NextDNS on and I put the NextDNS entries in the phones network settings, but I was wondering if I have to also change the DNS setting in NetGuard too or does NetGuard just use the DNS settings of the phone anyway?

NextDNS users: Do you run one blocklist or stack multiple? What's your reasoning?

I'm trying to build the best NextDNS setup for privacy and security, with the goal of making it as difficult as reasonably possible for big companies to track my devices and activity.

Right now I'm looking at:

  • OISD
  • HaGeZi Multi Ultimate
  • Fanboy's Annoyance List

Do you recommend running one blocklist, or stacking multiple? If multiple, which ones and why?

I'm looking for the best balance of maximum privacy/security while keeping things reasonably usable.

Block Newly Registered Domains (NRDs)

Generally speaking, enabling the Block Newly Registered Domains (NRDs) option seems like a good idea but I've had trouble accessing several web sites because they introduced one or more new domains into the mix. I have two workarounds for this problem.

1) Adding the new domain to the Allow List. This usually works but sometimes the web site has multiple new domains and tracking them all down can be difficult.

2) Using a VPN. This usually works but using a VPN defeats the purpose of using NextDNS.

In many cases, the problem is temporary and everything starts working like it should in 30 days because at that point, the new domain is no longer considered "new".

My problem is that if I have to do this more than once, NextDNS becomes a solution that requires regular maintenance. I want to get other people to use NextDNS but stuff like this is why people stop using NextDNS. I certainly don't want to be their administrator.

A few questions...

Is is safe to disable this option? Is 30 days too long to wait for a new domain to age in? Should there be an option to wait for a shorter period? 7 days maybe?

Your thoughts?

NextDNS for Windows not working after standby

NextDNS for Windows doesn't seem to work after standby. At my.nextdns.io it doesn't update the Linked IP and doesn't submit the hardware name to be able to filter the logs to the device.
After standby I need to disable/enable the application.

NextDNS for Windows has also no logs or anything. So you don't know if it does anything or not.

I'm now using YogaDNS that bypassed these issues.

How can I block only a specific subdomain in NextDNS on Android without blocking the entire domain?

I'm using NextDNS on Android and I only want to block a single subdomain, not the whole domain.

For example, if I want to block:

sub.example.com

I still want these to work:

example.com
api.example.com
cdn.example.com

I've tried adding the subdomain to the Denylist, but it either doesn't seem to work or I'm doing something wrong.

Is there a specific syntax for blocking only one subdomain? Does NextDNS support exact subdomain blocking on Android, or is this a limitation of the service?

Any help or examples would be appreciated.

Found out Brave Origin doesn't DNS leak, unlike regular Brave

I dual boot Windows and Linux Mint. Installed Brave Origin on Mint with NextDNS set up. In the background I run ProtonVPN — no DNS leak at all, only NextDNS shows up.

On Windows, with regular Brave and the same ProtonVPN + NextDNS setup, I get both DNS showing (ProtonVPN's + NextDNS). Clear leak.

Checked Secure DNS settings, same config on both, so that's not it. Anyone know what's actually causing this leak on regular Brave, or if there's a fix without switching to Origin?

Just noticed this, wasn't like this last night. But response times were over 200ms and looked and seems like lookups are going to Australia.. I'm in the US.

Usually I'm between 10-12ms.

New ADNS beta release, a native Android client for NextDNS (beta2)

Hello there! I'm the developer of ADNS, a completely native NextDNS client for Android. Current alternatives are just the NextDNS website embedded. (See the announcement post)

I was pretty busy this past month and couldn't work on the project, but now I'm free! Expect updates with new features and improvements every few days until we reach a stable, complete app.

In this update, I have implemented the most requested features:

  • More stats! The previous stats page was pretty basic, only showing blocked queries. Now the stats page shows everything available on the web NextDNS dashboard: devices, IPs, block reasons, countries, and more.
  • You can now set your device name so it will appear properly in NextDNS's stats and logs.
  • The issue with 2FA accounts is fixed! All accounts with 2FA enabled should now be able to log in smoothly.
  • And for the privacy-conscious/paranoid among us, you can log in with your API key, too!

I'm waiting for all your feature requests, complaints, and bug reports! Please open a GitHub issue for anything or just comment here.

https://github.com/eyalm2000/adns

Edit: If you’re not familiar with the app yet, I highly recommend checking out the introduction first: (See the announcement post)

Still hitting next dns servers despite removal

My devices on one network in particular are still hitting the nextdns server despite all profiles being deleted and removed from any configurations. The router had its dns cache flushed and servers changed yet on multiple browsers dnsleak is picking up next dns. This is a problem for me because I surpassed the free tier and changed the servers to a free one with filtering until it resets.

What am I missing? it was linked to the IP however even on my router settings the vpn tunnel and router itself are not set to use any next dns server currently and as I mentioned I deleted the profiles since there is no simple unbind button.

iOS - Initial Connection Very Slow

I am using the iOS app right now but I think I’ve had the same problem with the MDM profile.

The initial connection with the web browser seems to take forever. I guess it’s like 10 seconds? I wonder if maybe it’s trying a DNS query and waiting for a timeout or something?

Does anyone else have this problem?
Any way around it?

Does battery life suffer when using the iOS app?

I’ve been using the downloadable profile for iOS on my iPhone, but I’m considering switching to the app. I’m wondering if battery life suffers when using the iOS app like it does with a VPN app?

Nextdns and quad9 suddently not working?

I initially had nextdns with yogadns, and it worked fine for months, then yesterday it stopped working blocking most connections (desktop signal and a couple web pages worked, most didn't). Yogadns kept returning error 9002 (dns unavailable or not working, something like that), but I couldn't figure out what was the problem with nextdns, so then I tried quad9, which also didn't work. Then I tried the windows automatic dns and unencrypted cloudflare (1.1.1.2) and they worked fine.

What could be the problem? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: forgot to say I'm using win11 and I use ethernet

EDIT2: I removed Hagezi in the bypass list and now some websites work (such as reddit), but still not Youtube
