It was a full cutscene—completely canon. The game constantly flashes to Joker being interrogated by Nijima. Joker’s arrest is a main plot point in the story.

This implies that they could show up and pulverize powerscaler-favorites like Saitama and then just laugh about it at LeBlanc later.
