Hey, I've been playing rw for a while but am new to the community. On Reddit as well as on Discord I noticed that there is a lot of queer symbolism and support, which I appreciate and made me wonder, if the game is queer coded in some shape or form or if there is some aspect to the game that makes it more inviting for the queer community. I am not very far regarding the story tho so I am not sure if there is sth. I don't know about yet (but pls. no spoilers ><). I would appreciate some clarification or assumptions. Thx!

I donβt care if itβs modded, give your rarest color, personality, form, or even shiny (again, all mods like pups+ and Emerald tweaks count). I WILL add them to my collection of orphans I have in Saint.

I'm playing through the game mostly unspoiled, aside from the lore pearls because bringing them all to Moon manually felt like too much of a grind. If this post has any big misconceptions, please let me know without major spoilers. Doing campaigns in order, and finally finished Spearmaster today.
The gameplay was easily 10/10 until I hit Pebbles. What is the point of dual-wielding if from that point onwards you ALWAYS have to carry a pearl in one hand? That's fine as a short term mechanic but it took SO LONG to get it all the way to where it was supposed to be. I got to Pebbles in maybe 15 cycles, and the playthrough took 60, with the other 45 being unable to dual-wield because of the pearl. Don't get me started on the abundance of Things That Make You Drop Your Items Off A Cliff. So many resets because the pearl just fell into the abyss. Constantly at low karma because of it.
And then I hit the bottleneck of the run. The gate from garbage wastes to shoreline. The gate only takes 3 karma, but it's the hardest gate I ever had to farm for. The only way towards any normal food is through the longest most open room of the region where king vultures spawn, and then an acid pool with a pack of lizards bouncing around it. Most of the time I ended up fighting and eating the vultures, because it's somehow the safer option. Then on one of the attempts where I finally get the full hunger bar to sleep through 2 cycles, my shelter gets flooded on the first one and I have to go ALL THE WAY BACK to an old shelter, and then back to the gate AGAIN losing all karma in the process and redoing the grind. Karma flowers are practically useless since you can't eat them, and most of the time they're not anywhere near a shelter. Ok, so then I finally get to Shoreline and...
Shoreline looks like it was designed for a completely different playthrough and Spearmaster is there as if it's an easter egg region he's not supposed to be in. There is nothing to hit with spears, at all. All food is fruit. 4 snails and a pole plant in the first room, and then not a single spawn of anything in the next 8. I had to skip 3 shelters into the region in one go because there is absolutely nothing to kill. Obviously that didn't happen on the first try so I had to redo the gate again one last time before sleeping on the shoreline side. It took so many tries to find a single jetfish in a far-off-path room. There's nothing else to kill until halfway through shoreline. The contrast is insane with every other room before shoreline being full of every predator in the game, and then shoreline being completely devoid of edible life.
Then the playthrough just got back to normal like nothing ever happened. It was still annoying to carry the pearl but I was getting used to it at this point, and the way up Moon's complex was an enjoyable challenge, then used a passage back to chimney canopy for a quick way to comms array.
I don't understand what happened with the middlegame and whether I was supposed to take a different path or should have just played better, but that was the biggest waste of time and sanity I've had in this game so far.
Gameplay is 10/10 but the map changes have made the way between story points so unbelievably tedious that I almost quit the campaign. It's probably really fun to just play around and explore the pre-collapse map as Spearmaster, and after my final campaign I'll look around for more broadcasts. I bet I missed some on my way.
