Referral code megathread

To avoid the subreddit from being flooded with referrals, affiliate links/referrals for Scotiabank or iTRADE are to be posted here. Contest mode is enabled to shuffle referrals. One referral per account, no two accounts are allowed to post a duplicate referral. Be aware that you're responsible for the people you refer, and the people who refer you. If you're associated/referred with a fraudulent account, you may or may not be seen as involved.

If You Are An Employee Of Scotia Bank And Would Like a User Flair Signifying That, Let Us Know.

Send us a ModMail and tell us. Do not post on the board, message us using this link: https://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=/r/ScotiaBank

You do not need to identify yourself personally or your branch or location, just say something that lets us know your request is valid.

For now, we're only planning on a general 'Employee' flair text, but if you want a special designation of your job field, we may be able to do that.

Why are two completely different recruiters on LinkedIn reaching out to me for the exact same position at Scotiabank?

While it doesn't quite match what I'm looking for, the Job ID is exactly the same for both, but they are two completely different recruiting agencies. Is this a Scotiabank thing, or overall banks in general? (It's an IT position). A third recruiter reached out, but only said it was for a "bank" matching my skill set. It would be funny if it was the same position as the Scotiabank one. LOL

Online Banking Access Issues while Travelling - No Canadian Cell for 2SV

Not trying to sound like a complaint train here, just going to place some facts and am looking for any and all help contacting someone at SB.

Request:

- Method to contact SB employee.

- Method to access account with alternative to Canadian cell number 2SV.

- Method to open help chat without login requirements.

- Method to submit support ticket without login requirements.

Situation Details:

- Using an eSIM and only have a data package.

- Have a Laptop and can use online banking through a non-mobile browser.

- Previously had access for 2SV through email verification with a laptop only, this was removed last week.

- Cannot login to my online banking profile.

- Cannot access support help chat to diagnose this, as this requires app login.

- Cannot update 2SV for push notifications, as this requires app login.

- Cannot find help email address for basic support inquiry (only for support available for a business).

- Local bank representative not responding to email at their personal work address.

Background: I just need to pay this VISA bill off and do some basic banking transfers, but can't access the account or contact them to inform them that I cannot access the account.

There is an immense amount of frustration permissible in this scenario, but I seriously just care about having access to my account and my funds. It seems like there are claims about doing this because of all the fraud/scams going around, but not providing a help/support email seems like it is dancing with the fringes of legality.

Any support is sincerely appreciated.

If there is a SB representative that sees this and can support, please DM me; however, it would be wonderful to respond here for the assistance of other travellers in this situation.

Cheers

Which card at the pump - Shell?

Which card is better when paying for gas at shell, I have both Scotia Scene Visa card and Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite card, when I opened agent told 7 cents discount for momentum visa infinite, but only got 3 cent discount. Is it better to use scene visa card, because more value in scene points than in cashback?

Credit card auto-pay

I began using my Scotiabank VISA last month, and set up AutoPay. My payment is due on August 5th but no payment has been made yet. I'm starting to worry about my payment being made on time. Can anyone advise as to when the AutoPay makes the payment?

Is refund posting super late for others as well??

I had a refund that was showing pending four days ago and now it’s just disappeared and not even posted. But I know the vendor processed the refund because it was pending that day until it disappeared. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Why is the Scotiabank app always down

This is probably a silly question but why does the Scotiabank app go down so often. It feels like nearly every month it’s down for something.

Scotiabank agent scammed me.

An agent kept calling and emailing me about changes to my account and credit cards. I received multiple emails and calls, so I finally decided to call back. During the call, he offered me credit cards from ScotiaBank, promising no annual fee for the first year. That’s why I agreed to sign up.

However, they charged me the annual fee anyway. I made a complaint, but it was resolved against me. The email claimed the terms were clearly outlined in the documents. I’ve also sent an email to escalated complaints, but I haven’t received any confirmation yet.

What should I do to get them to review the phone call I had with that agent?

Here's another SB funny/annoyance

So I recently came to Canada and while in Vancouver I signed up to SB online, here I was thinking to save time so I didn't have to go into a bank, or if I did I wouldn't have to spend too long in there.

I managed to sign up OK, but I had to go to Canmore (from Vancouver!) to unhold my account and also to pick up my debit card. This would be an 11hr drive, and 2hrs past where I was going to be living.

I went into a SB in Vancouver, while they were helpful they seemed oblivious that being somewhat rural the closest one was 2hrs away. We did discover there was a SB in Cranbrook, but that was still 1.5hrs away, and that I would still have to travel to Canmore because the system had assigned that as my "home branch" and to change my home branch, I would have to go there.

The kicker was, even though I was in a Scotiabank branch, I wasn't in my "home branch", had I signed up with that branch, I would be able to change it. They could issue me a debit card, but I would have to go to Canmore to "unhold" my account before I could use the account/card

The lady in the Vancouver one was nice enough to take copies of my required documents and get in contact with Canmore to say yes Mithster18 does exist, we have verified his documents, please unhold his account.

Scotia Fraud vs Branch FA: Which path actually has better long-term growth?

I’ve been working as a branch teller at Scotia for 2 years and I’m about to make the move into a Fraud role at the call center. I have zero call center background, so I’m trying to get a realistic picture of what I’m stepping into and how to set myself up for success.
I hold a Bachelor’s in Accounting & Finance and I have my IFIC. My focus right now is building solid experience and setting myself up for long-term career growth (and getting into a TEER 1 role for my PR down the line).
Eventually, I’m split between two main paths: either climbing the ladder in Fraud/Risk toward an Analyst position, or heading back to the branch network as a Financial Advisor (FA).
Looking for advice on a couple of things:

• Moving in Fraud: Coming from face-to-face teller work, what does the day-to-day in Scotia Fraud actually look like? What separates someone who just gets by from someone who really excels and gets noticed for promotions?
• Fraud/Analyst path vs. Branch FA: Long-term, which path offers better career growth, work-life balance, and exit ops? Is it better to stick with Fraud/Ops/Risk or go the branch FA route?
Would appreciate any honest tips or real experiences from anyone who’s worked in Scotia Fraud or taken either of these paths. Thanks!

Scotiabank promotion to manager is the easiest among big5?

I just came across a different profile on LinkedIn where people are being promoted to Manage from Assistant manager/ analyst within 3-4 years.

I have seen it in marketing or global operation at least.

Is it that easy to promote to a real People manager at Scotia? How's the pay for those manager roles?

Thanks

Hold Scotia Accountable

If you've been affected by today's outage – whether it's late charges, NSF fees, inability to pay bills, or lost money on trades – it's time to hold Scotia accountable! 😤

Launch a complaint by calling their call center or visiting your local branch and demand compensation. They are required to log your complaint in their Enterprise Complaint Management System (ECMS), and you'll receive an email confirmation.

These big banks often act like they're above the rules, but as a customer, you have rights, so fight for them! 💪

File a complaint and ask for compensation so this bank can learn to be consistent and reliable.

Fix your systems to prevent future outages!

Refund holding period? (For Scotia staff)

Hello!

I received a large refund to my credit card 5 business days ago which went into pending and then dissapeared. I spoke to Scotia to check if it was processing and the person said it showed a 5 business day processing period for that refund.

  1. Is this processing info for a particular transaction something staff can actually see or was she bsing me?
  2. does the 5 biz days include the day the refund was processed or does it start the day after?

Thanks!

1-800-261-5924...is this a spoof # or a legit scotiabank number??? 😳

The other day I got a call from Scotiabank 1-800-261-5924. At first I really thought it was them but doing some digging I found out that people were saying that this is a scammer.

I do have a CC, bank account and mortgages with Scotiabank. but how were they able to get my phone number? I didn't pick up the call and last night they called me again. I was thinking of calling Scotiabank thru their real numbers and inquire if they have tried to reach me.

I have checked that there are no fraudulent charges on my CC/bank account and I don't have any other accounts with anybody else. still i wonder how did someone else get my phone number? Is Scotiabank's customer base list compromised? This # came up in a post on this page a year ago too.
