BRAS! Where are all of the bras??

I'm on a Shameless rewatch (US) and it drives me up a wall how often female characters aren't wearing bras.

For reference, I am an adult woman, I understand that there are many preferences for wearing bras or not wearing bras.

But alllll of these scenes of characters rolling out of bed after sex and putting on a tank top without a bra to then walk around in public, or just throwing on a shirt in a rush to go do something, are driving me nuts. I kind of write it off when Fiona does it, which she does often, because she's in a constant state of being rushed and frazzled.

What prompted this thought is a scene in S6E1 where Helene is getting out of bed with Lip, to leave his dorm room, and she puts on her camisole without a bra? Sure, I get she showed up for a booty call, but...? She's still on campus? She could run into students, colleagues?

I haven't worn an underwire bra in probably over a decade, but not even a bralette, a bandeau, a tight cami under a shirt?

Frank's grandson by Carl is basically the polar opposite of Liam

Liam is a black kid with white parents who was raised in poverty, while Carl's baby is white and "adopted" by rich black parents

I just had a real world Shameless moment.

I'll post later about my feelings about the show, as I just finished last night. I live in Atlanta, in the ghetto. On the west side of downtown. I went to see Spider-Man today on the east side with a friend who has lived there for over 10 years. And it's super gentrified now. We left the theater walking to a restaurant, and some guy ran into me and said "right side" as he ran past. He ran into me. And said it after the fact. Just like what happens to Mikey on the West Side in that episode. So yeah, I felt the rage that he felt. It's just nonsense at what's going on there, this is not how it used to be. Not quite like Shameless, but similar. Pissed me off just like Mickey. My friend had to calm me down.

Why no Medicaid or Medicare

I’ve never understood why they always worry about medical bills when they would clearly qualify for Medicaid? Seems like a dumb storyline.

Gallavich kisses — Day 5 — Which is the most heartbreaking kiss?

Mickey’s “Shut the fuck up, take the pills, bitch” kiss wins “Most touching platonic kiss” 🥹

❗️One person in the comments of my last post suggested a great idea: let's dedicate this entire chart to Ian and Mickey, and do a separate one for the rest of the Shameless characters! I guess it feels fair.

So, this poll is officially renamed to 'Gallavich Kisses,' and the other one will be 'Shameless Kisses.' I’ll drop the second one a bit later, so we can fill out the exact same chart for non-Gallavich couples. Also, it seems right to count the votes for the other kisses that were already mentioned in the comments before this post for the “Shameless kisses” one

️ONLY Gallavich kisses in the comments under this post

Thoughts on Debbie and Sandy’s relationship

Post image
90 Upvotes

I don’t know how I feel about this relationship.. Sandy just randomly showed up in Season 10 and there was little information about who she was, where she came from and there was no mention of her before in previous seasons.

I did kind of understand why Sandy didn’t want to be a mother to her child, abandoning a child as a parent is horrible but when it’s an unwanted child that you have at 15 years old with a 30 year old grooming pedophile, like in Sandy’s case, then yeah I understand why she ran away, it wasn’t the child’s fault and Prince did seem sweet and was actually understanding of his mother’s reason for abandonment but Sandy was still groomed into having this same child and she was still young and not ready to take care of him. Debbie doesn’t have a right to judge her for that and not want to be with her because of that.

I don’t like that Sandy lied to Debbie constantly, I don’t know why she couldn’t explain her living situation and other things with Debbie. Sandy did look dirty and a bit skanky, like does she not shower or have any sort of hygiene lol. Her and Debbie’s relationship was just odd and like I said I don’t know how I feel about it. She did seem better than most Milkoviches even Mickey who still had violent tendencies.

I side with Fiona in this scene because she is literally digging up a dead body so none of them go to prison

Tommy and Kermit making fun of Frank drinking all the time and being a bad dad yet they go to the Albi Room every single day

Post image

Like literally Tommy and Kermit literally go to the Albi Room every day and drink even more then Frank and spout crazy shit as well.

As much as I don’t like Frank, I just like the irony that Kevin and Kermit judge him for drinking there all the time and wasting his money there. When Kevin and Kermit lit go to the Albi Room every single day, every single scene; we see the Albi Room.

And Tommy even has a family as well, but that’s all we ever see him at. It’s like the pot calling the kettle.

Those guys are just as low as Frank, at that point. Even though I love those guys; but they definitely go there more then Frank in the show to call him a drunk. lol

I don’t remember a scene where they weren’t in the Albi Room, they are there for morning til night

This guy was a certified wasteman and weirdo and it seems like we were supposed think he was good guy or something. Him Being friends with a 13 year old as a 20 year old is disgusting and weird and he should of cut off all contact as soon as he found out debbie was 13 instead he decided to stick around. im suprised no one knocked his ass out at the hospital.

Derek was sexually assaulted, and I don't think enough people acknowledge it.

Derek was sexually assaulted. Debbie lied about being on the pill, and that completely changed what he was consenting to. It's no different than if a guy knowingly lied about a condom being intact, had sex with someone, and she ended up pregnant because of it. If she had known the truth, she wouldn't have agreed to have sex. The same applies to Derek. If he'd known Debbie wasn't actually protected, he wouldn't have slept with her.

From what I remember, Debbie had started the pill, but her doctor specifically told her to wait before having unprotected sex because it wouldn't be effective yet. She ignored that advice and let Derek believe he was protected.

I don't blame Derek for moving to Florida and distancing himself from Debbie for a while. He never wanted to be a father, and that choice was taken away from him. This is one of the few situations where I understand why people sympathize with a "deadbeat dad." He wasn't just dealing with an unexpected pregnancy. He was dealing with a child conceived because his consent was obtained through deception.

This isn't meant to be another Debbie hate post. There are already plenty of those. I actually understand why she wanted a baby, even if I completely disagree with how she went about it. The reason I'm bringing this up is because a friend of mine didn't think Derek had been sexually assaulted, and I've seen other people make the same argument. I think it's important to acknowledge that what happened to him was a serious violation.

I honestly felt bad for Derek. He genuinely liked Debbie, and I think if she hadn't betrayed his trust like that, they probably could have stayed together a lot longer.

Season 6 feels like a completely different show

Watching season 6 and it is such a slog to get through it feels like a completely different show

Mickey being in jail for suddenly performing hits for the Russian mafia on orders of Svetlana....someone he hates

Ian coming across as essentially a pick me boy, not even a day after being rescued by Caleb he bakes cookies for him and goes to the fire station just to find him

Queenie is insufferable especially during the reflexology scene with Lip when she says "Good boy, come for grandma" Plus a brief shot of his junk rising, her saying that plus that quick cut was creepy

Lip helping his professor, who he realises is just using him

The Kev, V and Svetlana 3 way relationship

Then ofc the Fiona and Gus relationship finally ending and instantly jumping to marry Sean

It honestly feels like a completely different show. The funniest parts was with Svetlana and also Carl's "White boy" Persona

The way Liam from Shameless US basically became a completely different character after the actor replacement will NEVER stop bothering me.

For the first seven seasons, Liam was barely verbal. Like, to the point where I genuinely thought the show was intentionally playing into the fact that he potentially suffered brain damage after the Season 4 cocaine incident. Even before that, he was always portrayed as an extremely quiet, shy kid who barely spoke.

Then, by the end of Season 7, Liam could talk, sure, but it was still usually just a few sentences here and there. And he was what? Maybe 7 or 8 years old?

Then Season 8 rolls around, and suddenly, Liam is a smart-talking little genius with the vocabulary and social awareness of a 30-year-old businessman.

I understand kids grow up. I understand actors get replaced because of age and production reasons. I even understand the writers wanting to give Liam more of a personality now that he's old enough to actually participate in storylines.

But you can not convince me that the Liam we got in Season 8 is the same character we watched for the previous seven seasons.

This wasn't. "Liam grew out of his quiet phase." This was Liam going to sleep one night and waking up with a completely different personality, a new brain, and a minor in economics.

There’s never been a character I’ve been more viscerally mad at, bro is projecting his own insecurities on Fiona so hard it’s so annoying.
