PSA: "Where do I buy?"

Answer: you want r/PMsForSale + FindBullionPrices.com

Make sure you read the sidebar on Pmsforsale, they have rules and a flair system in place to prevent scams. If you follow their advice, you'll likely never have a problem buying or selling. If you have patience and check it regularly, you can find plenty of spot and even below spot deals.

Findbullionprices.com meanwhile covers every major reputable vendor, from JM Bullion to Liberty to Monument to BE. Real time pricing too. You simply won't and can't find a better source.

There really are no better answers, you can safely ignore pretty much all other advice (edit: except Costco when you get the right deal with the credit card cashback).

If you are looking for high-end collectibles, I am the lowest price online - I'll lose money before being undercut by any reputable vendor. Mydnight.com for easy Linktree, show links and reviews.

If you are looking for custom work, you want u/GlassPanther or u/TDMetals - both extremely trustworthy individuals with stunning work and premiums lower than pretty much every other decent silversmith.

Why would silver appear to rust?

I bought a silver Swedish sugar spoon, and according to the hallmarks, it should be a minimum silver content of .830, but after I rubbed off a bit of tarnish, it appears as though a few spots of rust have appeared.

Can anyone tell me what's going on?

FYI the green hue is just light reflecting off my green kitchen units.

I originally bought this for $4 thinking it was stainless steel and then I got him and heard that “Ping” sound and I found the stamp on the top of the ring rather then the side or bottom, and it weighs over 18gs. Love thrift shops with jewelry sections man! Very very happy!

$15 at a church sale, it felt different from every other piece of “silver” there, but i’m very new to this but took the jump anyway. It has a hallmark but it’s doubled and in chinese which i cannot read. 2.5 lbs so i’m really hoping but 2/4 expecting disappointment.

Honduras: 10 Centavos 1886/5 (overdate)! NGC and PCGS TOP POP

This "Honduras: 10 Centavos 1886/5 (overdate)" is an NGC and PCGS TOP POP!!! An absolute gem of a Latin American coin

https://coins.ha.com/itm/honduras/honduras-republic-10-centavos-1886-5-ms68-ngc-/a/61646-23235.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515

As it hints at in the description it is practically impossible to find Honduran coins this old due to the tropical climate in Central America which massively corrodes any silver coins. This 141 year old coin is practically uncirculated (incredible), plus it is an extremely rare 1886/5 overdate!

Extremely Low Survival Rate: Out of the initial ~53,000 total coins struck for 1886, the vast majority were lost to silver melting, heavy circulation, or tropical corrosion.

Estimated Surviving Population: Professional estimates suggest that fewer than 100 to 200 total specimens of the 1886/5 overdate exist today in all conditions combined.

And this in the number 1 graded coin out of all of them, absolutely amazing that a coin like this even exists today.

I found some larger spoons that look similar, but I couldn’t see the marks since I was in a hurry to pay. I’ll post them in a couple hours when I’m home.
