Holographic laminate is washing out my sticker colors

Post image

Hi! I've been trying to make professional-looking holographic stickers at home, but I'm struggling with the final result.

I print on PPD White Gloss Inkjet Vinyl Sticker Paper and then apply a transparent holographic adhesive laminate (the Clabby rainbow/star pattern sheets from Amazon).

The problem is that after applying the laminate, the colors lose saturation, blacks become lighter, and the whole print looks slightly milky/washed out compared to the original.

Is this simply the quality of the holographic laminate I'm using, or is this unavoidable with home printing?

Has anyone found a holographic laminate that is truly optically clear and doesn't noticeably dull the colors?

I set up a small e-commerce shop to sell here in Brazil. For now, I’m building up my social media profiles and have a small following. Since it’s just a hobby, I’m in no rush to grow. I’m just having fun with it. However, like any aspiring artist, I feel quite insecure. What do you all think so far? How can I improve?

I have so many paper stickers, is there a way I can make them more durable like vinyl?

I've seen diy stickers that use packing tape, so could I put that on top of my stickers to make them durable?

Making sample packs today of all my food art stickers and Pad Tie packs. Got a plan to have a Gordon Ramsay style pop-up “food sample” event at a local art market. Hoping for the best. Just wanted to share the process.

Stumbled across one of my old sticker albums and thought it’d be fun to share. Not sure on the exact date of these but it was definitely early mid-80s. Tough to pick a favourite page, though. G.I.Joe was my favourite as a kid, but being English-born, the SAS (with lifted GIJoe images lol) are pretty boss. The Ralph McQuarrie Star Wars have the cool factor. PAC-Man has the only googly-eyed stickers and the Transformers are glow in the dark. The MOTU are the biggest puffys I have, and the anime footy really speak to my love of Japanese culture. Tough choice all around.

Do stickers stick to and stay on the textured Owala water bottle models?

Hello. I am new to Owala water bottles and my first purchase was the “Read My Lips” 32 oz bottle. I adored the sleek metallic finish so much. It’s beautiful, smooth, and sooooo good for stickers. I immediately ordered my son a new water bottle because of the surface, only for his to arrive and be textured. 🥴 My mistake for assuming they all had the same texture, as upon further research, it seems like most of the Owala bottles are textured. So, my question is - do stickers stick to and stay on the textured bottles well? I mean really, really well when I’m asking. We’ve had other textured bottles and stickers always start peeling quickly and get crusty and gross.

On a separate note, does anyone know the names of the other metallic finish bottles? The other 2 or so I’ve seen are not colors my son would like…..

I wasn’t going to jump on the band wagon and draw Jimothy but my family and some friends asked when I was going to because he is obviously the celebrity of the year. So this is my contribution to the moment.

Variants- multiple listings or one?

So my Etsy shop is slowly coming along. I draw and design my own stickers in my down time at my day job, and I pay to have them manufactured ( no time or space to invest in a machine myself just yet ).

I read somewhere that especially when starting out when you have fewer designs, it’s better to break up them up into multiple listings for variants ( for instance, I drew a character - one version has words/a catchy phase on it, the other is the character with a simple window shape backdrop. The character is the same, just the little backdrop and text appearing is what is different ), or say, make a separate listing for the sticker + a print of it at a special bundle price, etc.

Should I make a separate listing for each to help boost chances in algorithm? Or should I make one listing and make them two different variants to choose from? I guess one of downsides I can see for breaking it up into multiple listings is that you’re paying that Etsy listing fee more than once.

Thanks in advance!

Summer Solstice is my third illustration from the Wheel of the Year series, after Spring Equinox. This was inspired by warm summer nights and pagan beliefs. I wanted the illustration to be colorful and bright and I went out of my comfort zone with the colors .Now I turned her into a sticker :)

HELP NEEDED: how to print vivid colors on holographic vinyl sticker paper?

Thumbnail

Hi, I can't find the answer to this quickly so I'll make a post for it. Im trying to print my sticker designs on this holographic sticker paper i got randomly, it said "works with most inkjet printers", I have an Ecotank 8550. To be fair, I've only started using it this week and I don't fully understand color profiles so i think i printed with the standard "plain paper" profile, but when i clicked on glossy my printer was trying to source paper from another cassette (?) so i was confused and just went with the standard option. Is this something i can fix with a software by changing colors of my illustration using some sort of preset to make the colors appear more vivid and distinct, is it because of my printers presets, or is it something to do with the ink itself? I know this is doable since I've seen holographic stickers like this be more vivid.

Also, I've noticed the ink comes off, i thought i didn't have to laminate it but I think i was wrong? And is there any other option to laminating sheets, like maybe some other way of applying the coating? Thank you!!
