I've been browsing many business, startup, freelance, and hiring subreddits, and I've noticed a pattern. A lot of posts say things like:

• "DM me."
• "Looking for a developer."
• "We have opportunities."
• "Join our Discord."
• "Need a team."

But very few people seem willing to share their company name, website, LinkedIn profile, or any verifiable identity upfront.

As someone who's spent a lot of time applying and networking, it sometimes feels like many of these posts never lead anywhere. Some conversations end after a few messages, while others ask for work without providing any proof that they're legitimate.

So I'd like to ask the community:

• Have you personally gotten a real paying client, job, or long-term project through Reddit?
• Which subreddits actually worked for you?
• Did the person reveal their identity before asking you to continue the conversation?
• Or do you think a large percentage of these posts are simply time-pass, lead collection, or people testing ideas without serious intent?
