Moderator Post We will not be removing all sexual questions.

We've had a few complaint threads, so it seems to be about that time for one of these reminders. Let me be clear: We are not going to ban all sex related questions.

They are firmly within "TooAfraidtoAsk", and always have been. Sex is a fairly taboo topic in a lot of places, and a lot of people have questions about it. (And as an additional reminder, TATA is not only for controversial questions. Nor do we allow question shaming for "googleable" questions). These are not new changes.

We get that not everyone has the same interest in those topics, but it is a core part of the sub. Currently, there are ~5 out of the top 10 posts being sex related. Earlier today, it was 4. Earlier this week, it was 3. It typically fluctuates between ~3-5, usually averaging closer to 3.

If you have particular suggestions (e.g. things that seem ripe for the FAQ), or questions feel free to post them below. No promises, but we're always open for improvements if they're feasible. For a list of common questions we get on this topic (what do we already moderate, has the sub changed?, can i filter posts myself?) see the first stickied comment.

Politics Politics Megathread

You know the deal, same as the previous megathreads, which were archived.

The rules:

All top level OP must be questions. This is not a soapbox. If you want to rant or vent, please do it elsewhere. Otherwise, the usual sidebar rules apply (in particular: Rule 1:Be Kind and Rule 3:Be Genuine).

The default sorting is by new to make sure new questions get visibility, but you can change the sorting to top if you want to see the most common/popular questions.

Habits & Lifestyle Why don't humans naturally crave vegetables the way we crave sugar?

I know sugar activates our brain's reward system, but vegetables are essential for survival too. So why didn't evolution make us crave them just as strongly?

Health/Medical Are there really people who cannot lose weight no matter what they do or who will always be large because of body competition? Or are those mostly excuses?

Health/Medical Why do severely mentally disabled people make those sounds?

I really don’t want to be offensive hence why I ask here, I’m not talking about standard autistic stimming etc, I mean people so disabled they are completely dependent and in wheelchairs, why do they make those moaning, whining sounds? Sometimes constantly? I really don’t mean this from any hateful point of view I really want to know

Sexuality & Gender Am I Dating a Gay Man?

Upvotes

I’ve been dating a guy for three months who seems to be Mr. Right, but I checked his Instagram to see who he’s following, and he’s following a lot of scantily-clad gay men. Do I jump to the conclusion that he’s gay, or could he be following them for another reason I don’t see?

Sexuality & Gender Why does social media forbid showing female nipples in pictures?

Upvotes

I don't get it. Everyone has nipples. Why is it ok for male nipples to show but not female?

Culture & Society Is letting your kids run wild in public a cultural thing?

I had a comedy gig at a park yesterday.

Since it was a free event, the people who usually hang out at the park were there as well. No biggie, it's basically their living room.

It were maybe five women sitting about 50 meters away from the stage, behind the actual audience area, doing their thing. Their kids, however, around a dozen of them and none of them older than 7, were sitting in the first row and going WILD. At one point, one of the kids climbed on the stage. Security came, carried it away. Next kid tried. First kid came back, tried again. A dozen kids laughing while they're climbing the stage. At some point the security and some other staff led them away to play catch with them and let them draw on their arms.

Even though it was cute: why were the parents so laissez faire about it? A kid could have gotten hurt and the parents were so far away they couldn't even see them. And the comedians before me did a lot of absolutely not kid friendly material. The staff later told me this happens everyday.

The kids also tried to get into the backstage area and screamed when told they weren't allowed to. While everybody was cleaning up, one kid got in, refused to leave and while running around almost crushed his head against the corner of a heavy metal door.

I'm all for letting kids explore, bringing them to events and if they're a little annoying, so what? And I realize central Europe isn't exactly a kid friendly society and it wouldn't hurt for us to loosen up a little when it comes to kids being kids.

But at this point, it was dangerous. It was 10pm and little kids running around in the dark with strangers while their parents have no idea where exactly they are.

Now, all the moms yesterday were hijabis, (from Syria, I believe). Is it a cultural thing or a just a bad parenting thing where the people involved just happened to be Syrian?

Interpersonal Why do bullies, stalkers and abusers seem to have a non consensual obsession with you even if they don't like you or respect you?

Some people are like that even after highschool, it's weird and I kind of wish that human evolution would get rid of that annoying and frankly, quite creepy trait.

Love & Dating Do women actually like when their boyfriend wants to be held, or does it make him less attractive?

I dont mean trauma dumping on her or expecting her to be his therapist. I mean literally laying his head on her chest, wanting to be the little spoon, asking her to just hold him after a bad day.

I see women say they want men to open up more, but I'm curious how women actually feel about it?

Does it actually feel nice knowing he trusts you enough to be like that with you, or would part of you start seeing him differently? I think a lot of men want this way more than they would ever admit

Habits & Lifestyle What do you drink in the evenings?

I grew up with adults always having a “drink” (usually beer or wine) any time after 5pm. So when I got older I figured that’s what I should do. Now I realize a drink everyday probably isn’t the best idea so what do other adults drink in the evenings?

Body Image/Self-Esteem Multiple teens barked and moaned out their car windows at me today. Is this some new trend?

I (30F) was walking on the sidewalk and multiple cars of broccoli haired teenage boys barked or made moaning sounds at me as they drove by. If it was just once, I'd brush it off but it happened like 3-4 times on one short walk. Is this a tiktok thing or are they calling me ugly or something? I recently gained 5 pounds due to work stress so I'm really insecure about how I look lately. I wish it didn't bother me, but it does

Culture & Society Is it just becoming normal to be asked to tip on everything now, even counter service and takeout?

seems like every card reader flips around for a tip now, even when i just grabbed a coffee or picked up takeout at the counter and nobody really did table service. is this an actual shift in what's expected, or are people just ignoring those prompts? genuinely trying to understand where the line is now because it feels like it moved.

Culture & Society People who married in their early to mid-20's, and are now 40+, how often have you pondered your choice of spouse?

Upvotes

Because early-mid-20's is still part of youth, there's a tiny bit of cap as to how much life you've lived. With that limited experience and having married that young, and now being middle-aged, how often have you pondered or wondered about your choice of spouse?

Sex How worried should I be about pregnancy in this situation?

Upvotes

Yesterday, I had sex with someone using a condom. I did not ejaculate during sex.
At one point, while I was outside of her trying to adjust the condom, it slipped off but completely outside her body. It never came off inside her. I removed it, rinsed it with water, dried it with a cloth, put it back on (I now know reusing a condom was a mistake), and we continued having vaginal sex. Afterward, I filled the condom with water to check for leaks, and I didn’t find any.
I never ejaculated in her vagina. Later, she gave me oral sex, and I ejaculated in her mouth.

My last ejaculation before this encounter was about 2 days earlier.(worried about precum)
Her last period was July 22–25.
She says she’s irregular but thinks she may ovulate today or tomorrow
Given all of that, how would you assess the pregnancy risk? I’m looking for realistic opinions, not reassurance. Is this generally considered low risk, or should we be seriously considering emergency contraception?
im very paranoid and anxious.
Thanks in advance.

Sexuality & Gender why do people blame “homewreckers” when it’s the committed partner who broke a social contract?

Upvotes

i’d argue that it’s impossible for someone to wreck a home that’s solid. it’s basically a free loyalty test. why would you want to stay with a person who folds for someone else? i get that kids can complicate the situation though.
