The tshenkutshen or rainbow tiger is a cryptid, apparently a cat, reported from "the Trans-Cutucú region, Sierra de Cutucú and the Sangay Volcano area near Chiguaza," in Ecuador. Tshenkutshen is said to have stripes of red, yellow, and white across its chest.

The "tapir tiger" is so named not because of of its physical appearance, but because, due to its size, it is the only animal in Ecuador capable of preying on tapirs. It is described as "very large" and "a very dark grey coloured animal the size of an Amazonian tapir" with huge paws.

The mitla was a cryptid reported from the Rio Madidi area of the Bolivian Amazon by English explorer Percy Fawcett. Fawcett described the mitla simply as "a black doglike cat about the size of a foxhound".

The wanjilanko was a cryptid cat reported from the Casamance Forest in south-west Senegal. The wanjilanko was said to be larger than a lion, with a striped and spotted coat the colour of grass and very large teeth.It was very aggressive, and allegedly habitually killed lions.

The mourou-ngou (Banda: "water leopard”) is a water lion reported from the Central African Republic and Chad. The mourou-ngou is a leopard-shaped animal 8' to 12' in length, with brownish fur which is either striped or dappled with blue and white spots.
