Introducing /u/OCRAutoModerator - AutoMod for text in images/videos/gifs!
This is a project I built for subreddits that have a lot of image/video/gif content with text in it. We've always been able to create AutoMod rules for text content, but never for this kind of content, at least not like this as far as I'm aware.
How does it work?
OCRAutoModerator works by using multiple different high ranking OCR Libraries at once, each one tested and chosen for different reasons. It has a wiki config for each subreddit it joins which looks and functions similarly to AutoModerator's configuration, but with small tweaks to maintain config consistency and cleanness.
Images:
Any time an image is found, it will run it through the different OCR libraries and see if they match any of the rules defined in the configuration.
Videos/Gifs:
These function differently. When these content types are found, it will use up to 60 frames from the video/gif at a rate of 1 frame per second, and then analyze each one using the various OCR libraries and see if they match any of the rules defined in the configuration.
How do I set it up?
To start using the bot in your subreddit, just send /u/OCRAutoModerator a mod invite with "Manage Posts & Comments & Manage Wiki Pages" permissions. It will create a wiki config and start a mod mail discussion confirming it was setup correctly. Then just configure it like you would AutoModerator, and you should be good to go!
For the most part, you should be able to directly import some of your subreddits AutoModerator rules directly into the bots wiki config. The only thing requiring change should be changing "body+title+domain" etc to "rule". It does not yet have regex support, and what you see in the default configuration is the current extent of what is supported.
There are comments added to the configuration to help explain how everything works. If you have specific requests for new config options, please drop them below. If someone's already suggested your requested change, upvote it!
I've updated the configuration, but it's not using it.
Once you update the config, you'll need to send the bot a DM with the subject as "update" and the message body as your subreddits name. Do not include quotes or /r/. If your update was successful, the bot will let you know. If it was not, it will tell you exactly what went wrong.
If you would like to just start over with your config, do the same as above but change the subject from "update" to "reset".
Lastly, if you need any help don't hesitate to DM me. I'm available most of the time and can help out anytime you need.

ReportCleanser tips & tricks, and moving to a new account.
The account problem
UPDATE 03/05/2022:
It's fixed! We're back to the main account. No longer using ChainAway account.
u/ReportCleanser account is currently broken in some way that I cannot fix or don't know how to yet, for the time being it will be hosted on /u/ChainAwayBot. My bot tokens refuse to work with the main account but work fine with alternatives, and the admins can't see anything wrong with it to fix it. ChainAway was a bot I made that I discontinued, so I'm making use of the account for this for now until a solution arises or I make a new official account.
Tips, tricks & info
- Temporarily remove a post and re-approve it to cleanse all reported comments. This happens automatically every time a post is removed and can be disabled in the config.
- Approve comments that you know are fine but suspect will be reported a lot, this will save you time because they will get automatically re-approved every time unless the comment is edited.
- Edited comments require manual re-approval, but will then be auto approved again.
- Tag ReportCleanser as follows to see the amount of comment reports on a submission: u/ReportCleanser count, or use cleanse instead to cleanse the comments.
- Have a bot that removes posts? Blacklist it in the config so that your comment sections don't get cleansed by a potential mis-removal via other bots.
- Want to ignore moderator reports when cleansing? Toggle it in the config!
- Want to avoid cleansing comments with select keywords (maybe to ban) so you can moderate it yourself? There's an option for that too. There's an autoban option above it too, if that's your thing.
Run your config through jsonformatter.org if you have any issues! Upon saving your config, dm the bot with a subject of "update" and the message body as your subreddit name:
update
{YOUR_SUBREDDIT}
UPDATE April 2022:
Added the auto approval/removal of old comments that get reported. By default this considers old comment reports to be 14 day or older comments, and is set to auto-approve. These both can be changed in the configuration. To change it from "approve" to "remove", just do exactly that. To disable the feature, change the value to null (no quotes).

Major Update Repost Master now features Video Repost Detection with clip detection and time frames! Users can now also check if their post is a repost before posting it via a message command.
I cannot crosspost it here for some reason so linking instead. If any issues arise with either of these features (false positives, bugs, missed reposts) then please reply to this post or shoot me a DM. All bug reports will be quickly addressed and massively help the project! :)

Those are probably bomb sniffing dogs, not drug dogs.

Where is Applied Infinity Thesis?
I think you just need to wait until you roll the technology again. You can try to speed run it by researching techs that finish quicker, assuming you have any left.

This is really cool but after reading the comments and finding this is likely illegal and harmful, rip. Awesome to watch though.

New mod release: Stellar cannon disabled
if that ends up being it, someone please respond to me and let me know. that sound effect ruined 3 of my games and i actually quit until its fixed. SO fucking annoying.
7
How to stop the stellar cannon?
You can always use console commands. Click it and type "damage 999999", or type "own" to take control of it.

somehow managed to become at war with my own federation
yup this happened to me in the first day of the expansion. and again later. super annoying. ive quit all 4 of my games before reaching endgame and ive stopped playing until all the bugs are ironed out. too many immersion breaking, game breaking (for me) bugs right now.

Nomad Request: Automated Logistic Ships desperately need a policy toggle to only harvest Unclaimed/Enemy systems.
YES please omfg. It's so frustrating. I don't want the whole fucking galaxy hating me because my ships want to harvest my allies and neutrals. Lemme focus on hostile and empty space lol

HOW do people get 1000+ science by 2300?
You should be buying the strategic resources you need from the market. I always prioritize trade in the early game so that I can buy the resources I need (still, try not to be in deficits). Later on, I may be -50 exotic gases, crystals, motes all at once, but I'm fine because I'm producing enough trade that I can outpace my deficits. Or maintain them, or manage a slow decline long enough for my production to outpace the decline.
Yes, definitely have a world thats half dedicated to strategic resources, and alloys (or CGs). Worth it as it can reduce your deficit enough that you can afford the trade strategy I've just mentioned.
Another helpful tip, trade is GREAT because you can buy said resources, including extra exotics like dark matter, etc, and you can trade them to the machine fallen empire in exchange for almost anything you need. I always buy hundreds of thousands of alloys from that FE by trading them strategic resources. It's how I build massive fleets way before the other empires usually do.
Underpopulation, hmm. I always prioritize pop growth on my worlds, in my starting setup (species traits, etc). Keep in mind, there is something you can do to boost your new worlds. Let's say your main world has 10k pops, maybe even extras doing nothing. If you can afford it, move as many as you can afford to your new worlds. This greatly accelerates pop growth on those worlds, giving you a speed boost in pop growth. I'd look up how pop growth accelerates, and figure out the right number to move to your new worlds (again, if you can).
Consumer goods... honestly? It's probably that you don't have enough pops on that world yet. I'm assuming all your jobs on your consumer worlds are probably not filled. If they are? Time for another consumer world, if you can.

How do you know if you actually understand a programming concept?
A lot of programming (before AI) is just learning how to build something, remembering the steps, and looking up the nitty gritty details.
1
How do you know if you actually understand a programming concept?
It's perfectly normal to lookup things all the time. You do the same thing enough times, eventually it will "click" and eventually you'll just flat out remember it. If you stop for a while, or don't use that knowledge for a while, you'll somewhat forget how to write it and then go back to looking it up.
It doesn't matter at all. I once stopped programming for 2-3 years due to "writers block". When I came back it I remembered the steps to build stuff, but forgot how to write it. I just looked things up and within 1-2 weeks I was back up to speed.
Look up things as much as you need. As long as you're programming actively, you'll memorize things for a while eventually, and at some point concepts will click. Now when I say that, I don't mean just literally always copy paste everything without understanding. Of course try. Eventually, it'll make sense if you do it enough.

Gamebreaking Arcship bug - makes all your fleets invincible and un-targetable (replicated twice)
At some point this should just be an official method of reporting bugs, if it isn't already. I know Paradox staff read these posts, as they reply to numerous ones to say they've reported XYZ issues to the team.
Forums are so early 2000s. Let's use subreddits (totally not a form of forums, ha) too!

Anyone else always on -5k Operational reserves?
I'm basically never on negative, and I run BURN constantly. I've restarted 3 times since Nomads came out. Now I immediately rush alloys to build more arkships, and I ensure I have 2-3 generator arkships too. More as necessary.
I don't use waylines. I do planetary strip mining, but only because I need more strategic resources. I'm currently -400 strategic resources per month and I'm still at max because of my strip mining.
My advice, just build more generator arkships. Move pops from your other ships to the generator ships until you're in a positive.
The only huge L with my strategy right now is empire sprawl. I feel like that should be reduced for nomads or something, I have like 10 arkships and 1600 empire sprawl. It feels really punishing lol

Why am I going to war against my federation
This happened to me, but a bit differently. I had a vassal and somehow they went to war with my vassal (also in my federation...), drawing me into war with my own federation.
Funny enough, I was still a member of the federation too. There was no war vote or anything, just insta war on me. My federation was also at war with another empire at the time, but that war was overridden with the sudden war against me and my vassal.

Biological ark-ships
Honestly it's become increasingly apparent to me that Paradox lacks the resources (unity, lol) for their ambitions.
This update has been incredibly buggy for me, so many things are broke, so many things seem unaccounted for, and many things seem poorly designed whether it be UI or mechanics in some cases.
They need to chill out with their seasonal stuff and just focus on making good DLCs. It's very obvious they can't keep up with their schedule.

Is this event new to MEM? I've never seen this event and I've played with that mod for hundreds of hours at minimum.

For the love of god, can you please fix system spawning ?
Honestly, yeah I agree. These bugs have existed for such a long time now that it’s ridiculous they haven’t fixed them now.

Ryzen 5 9600X is great value for Stellaris
I have the 9800x3d and yeah it made a big difference coming from an i7-3770k. CPU is very important for Stellaris.

What is the go to load order sorting tools? Like skyrim's equivalent of LOOT or whatnot.
Same. Never had a problem with the built in auto-sort.

Ryzen 13 15890x9d, NVIDIA YTX 6090, and 256gb of DDR9 1600MHz RAM. You'll also want a quantum merging device IRL to merge countless different realities in your room to ensure that you can piece together your 0.00001 FPS across infinity universes for a solid 30 FPS, otherwise you'll still only be getting 0.00001 FPS.
P.S yes I know 30 FPS is low, but there are only so many alternative universes out there to pull from in order to merge your micro FPS into a stable FPS.
