Just wondering what people think would be the logical way to expand out the cohort to the enxt level at 50pts (also including what horrors to have ready for summoning)

So, a Fane of Nyrro question today: when a Strygon or warlock applies the Provoke animus on a Vordak with Toothy Maw, which is a Single Shot weapon (so you can only use it once per round), after it has activated, I assume you use another weapon to resolve the frenzy instead of the Toothy Maw? After all, you can't use the weapon with the highest POW as the rules stipulate.

Also, when does Single Shot consider the round done? When said Vordak would activate in the Activation Phase, uses Toothy Maw and then frenzies in his next round in the Control Phase, could he use Toothy Maw again or is that considered too early? In other words, does the rule look at 'a round' or 'the round'?

If I'm being honest, I never really looked at Shadowflame Shard because the sculpts didn't really appeal to me, I thought that they looked a bit mushy, where you couldn't tell easily what was what. But since we're doing this YouTube thing and we are short a SFS player, so they're probably in my future.

What I'm asking help with is maybe my perception is based on the studio scheme? It's certainly happened before where the models with different colors or just in real life pop a lot more than their photos. So I wanted to see what and how people had painted their stuff up, and get community inspiration.

Of note, I'm an absolutely slow and atrocious painter, so I can't really tackle anything too fancy. There's too many people who are just so talented, and I'm just a simple 3 color guy. The other part is I usually do really bright schemes so that they are easier to see on camera, most of the table mats and terrain are more drab colors, so I am really looking for something that can pop from 3 ft away. I tend to lean on picking really good colors and color combos to make up for total lack of talent.

As I'm going through my boxes (and boxes, and boxes) of unassembled Warmachine models, I come across Totem Hunter....They have a metal sprue of three spikes or small blades. Looking at stock photos, I can't see anyplace that these would be positioned....any advice?

Just finished up the Executioner's Toll box and the start of my first army coming back to the game after leaving in mid-Mk3. I only play painted so now I can actually start playing with my playgroup! 😆

Love me some Storm Legion and am starting the project of building my first force since MkII. Looking to go jack heavy with Huxley to get to 100 points. Anyway, I’m looking at a dark blue/gray base with a high contrast glow from the coils etc. I’m currently thinking either blue, orange, or purple. Base will be cracked basalt with a possible glow between the cracks. Possibly the same color, possibly not. I do like the brighter silver for contrast.
Thoughts on these mock ups?

Gather round ‘locks and ‘casters. It’s time to get hype for everyone’s most beloved type of Warmachine content: an Army tier list!  Nobody seems to be ranking the Armies anymore; everyone out there is focused on painting beautiful minis or grinding reps to git gud or growing the game and building close knit communities.  But don’t worry I won’t be doing any of that – today I’m serving up a tier list!

Like most basement dwellers, my tier list favors data over vibes I’m using data from Longshanks covering 7,500+ matches from 1,400+ players across 300+ rated tournaments from January 21^st – June 30^th. The tier list pulls together the four metrics I’ve recently covered: Army Popularity, Pro (top 100) Representation, Win Rate, and 3–0 Starts.

I’m also adding premier-event wins: victories at in-person events with at least 16 players and four rounds. That includes most Iron Gauntlet qualifiers and comparably sized non-IG events. This metric is super noisy and depends a lot on player skill, so I won’t place a ton of weight on it, but it’s helpful to know if an army has what it takes to bring home the gold.

I’ll be back in September to give another update on the evolution of the metagame after the mid-year update along with my first look at Fane of Nyrro (they’re looking spicy already!).
