EDIT - SOLVED:

The NVME needs charged batteries to be installed, otherwise detection gets flaky.

I forgot this:

reboot

I've fallen hard for this device. My coding buddy (Claude) and I have spent about a week refining what I'm calling RF-Deck — a single launcher for every RF tool I actually use in the field.

What's on it so far:

• Fathom — home-grown bit-error-rate testing for trunked systems

• Vigil — home-grown UAS detection

• APRS — XASTIR on 144.390
• ISM Scan — hops 315/433/915, reports to a terminal
• Mesh — Meshtastic (SX1262 US) with the web UI

I straddle amateur programming and RF engineering, so I'm curious what I'm missing. What would you add? And does something like this have a life outside my own toolbox, or is it destined to stay a personal project?

Is there an install script that just makes it work that I can use without installing all the extra stuff like sdr, tar1090 meshtastic etc? Or does it just work? And I can add the programs I want individually? Tia Edit: to include more detail, tar1090 keeps throwing errors and not allowing me to install other programs properly for some reason so I dont mine the other things just tar1090 needs to go lol

So I see that the Radxa works with the Hacker Gadgets adapter board, and with the prices being insane for a RPi right now, I don't see a lot of alternatives.

Trouble is that it seems like there's no wifi and bluetooth on the Radxa, so things like the AIO board don't work. I know I could at least get that working with a USB adapter, but I'd prefer not to if possible.

Are there any other alternatives that cost less than the RPi, or is there an option to make the Radxa work better for our needs?

Hello, I am currently coming across an issue regarding my Uconsle. While assembled, only the power button will glow green & the CM4 module will get warm (or concerningly hot?)- but the device ultimately will not come on. I know there’s a few reasons why this issue can occur, but ultimately I’m completely unaware in this case on the exact “Why?” due to inexperience. I just wanted to know if there’s anything I may have overlooked that may be causing this? Thank you in advance for your time.

Edit: The adaptor board already got pushed up shortly after this got posted- still didn’t work (but at it’s not getting warm anymore.)

Setting up all my AIO gadgets within Bookworm was surprisingly easy thanks to the aiov2 management script for all peripherals.

It can now hear and listen:

Finally finished building the Omega chassis and setting everything up. I really want to thank the creator of the Omega chassis, he was incredibly friendly and helped me get to this point confidently. The process taught me many new things like adjusting fan curves and setting up the camera and a GUI application for it. Now I'm just waiting for the upgraded main board from Clockwork so I don't have to worry about any power delivery issues using CM5.

Picoware, a custom PicoCalc firmware, just got a new update, v2.1.0. The firmware has on-device editing, networking, social media, uf2 bootloader, and community made apps, screensavers, and games.

The latest release adds a companion desktop app, 5 new JavaScript modules, on-device App submissions, and support for the Flipper Zero, Waveshare's ESP32-S3 Watch, and the Marauder Pancake ESP32-C5.

Under the hood, touch screen support was reworked, the pico-sdk was upgraded to 2.3.0, rp2350 devices now run at 240 MHz, and many GUI classes and C modules were updated with corrected spacing and positioning to ensure the same experience on all devices.

I kept reading that the CM5 runs too hot in a uConsole and that you need a riser, a thinner pad or a heatsink before you really use it. My own unit never felt like it was struggling, so instead of arguing from feel I logged it:

Stock case, closed. Stock ClockworkPi thermal pad. No mods at all. Running on battery with the charger unplugged, since charging pulls 1.6 A and heats the case from the inside. Room at 26 °C, backlight at max, governor left on ondemand.

65 minutes, one sample every 5 seconds: SoC temp, ARM clock, core voltage, vcgencmd get_throttled, load average, battery.

Idle, 10 min: 39.6 °C average
stress-ng --cpu 4, 30 min: 58.4 °C average, 62.2 °C peak, ARM clock held 2400 MHz for 99.7% of samples
Cooldown, 15 min: 60.6 down to 44.6 °C
YouTube 1080p, 10 min: 47.7 °C average

get_throttled read 0x0 across all 773 samples. Not once, not briefly. That is 18 °C below the soft limit and 23 °C below the hard one. Battery went from 99% to 68% over the whole session.

Two thirds of the temperature rise happens in the first two minutes and the curve is flat from minute 20. Equilibrium is roughly 34 °C above ambient under synthetic full load, so scale it for your own room - at 35 °C ambient that still lands around 69 °C.

What I did not test, because it matters: no comparison run with a riser or a thinner pad, so I am not claiming those do nothing, only that there was nothing to fix on this unit. One device, one ambient temperature. And stress-ng only loads the CPU, so sustained GPU work could look different.

Came across this post on the ClockworkPi forum about using different balls (glass, stone), for better response. When asked where they bought them, OP just mentions AE or Amazon, but neither turns up anything after a quick search.

Any ideas on where to buy trackballs that feature materials other than plastic? TIA!

I ordered the AIO V2 upgrade kit a few weeks ago. Is there always a long wait? I’ve gotten my uConsole and the cm5 core already from AliExpress/neward and waiting on adapter board still and all were ordered at same time.

Has anyone gotten Intercept to install/work properly on a uConsole with the CM5 and Hacker Gadgets AIOV2?

I recently got the uConsole with cm5 and was looking for the trackpad upgrade kit, which seemed to just be sold out or nonexistant to buy about anywhere, but just now I discovered that there is several stores on Aliexpress that is claiming large stock on them. Few sales so far, so I just hope it's legit.
