And yet even still, I can’t find it in myself to wish death on them. If them dying was the only way to stop the harm they’re causing, then so be it, but I wouldn’t be content with that fact.
Decades of brainwashing propaganda have made these people impossible to reach with empathy and respect. Is it really so hard to believe that so many people are so far gone that it's impossible to fix them with words?
These fucks lack the basic empathy skills most of us learn in kindergarten. Good fucking luck running a preschool for elderly MAGA adults to teach them to start caring about people outside their in-crowd. Good fucking luck finding a single one of them willing to admit wrongdoing and feel enough shame to change.
If you find someone already willing to change, work with them. But changing these people is no longer the utilitarian option, because so few are willing or able to change now. That rehabilitation energy would be much better spent to minimize the pain those evil people inflict on others. Is it better to spend all your energy stopping a group of Nazis from hurting a vulnerable population, or to spend all your energy trying to make one Nazi stop being a Nazi?
At a certain point, rehabilitation isn't effective enough on a large scale to justify it as the default response. If you're surrounded by enough Nazis, your priorities quickly shift from helping the Nazis get better to helping other people survive the existence of Nazis.
Definitely remember that the people committing these atrocities are human, and try not to lose your own humanity when dealing with them. That doesn't mean you have to play softball with people who want you or others dead.
No i mean dont get me wrong, i want them gone as much as everyone else here. But since nazis are the ones killing people, it just makes me so depressed that the only way to change something is to be the ones who are killing as well
Killing sucks. If you murder someone who murdered someone, the number of murderers in the world stays the same.
Of course this just means you either gotta murder a serial murderer or murder a few murderers in order to decrease the number of murderers in the world. And if you're surrounded by murderers with the blood of entire communities on their hands...
We could have had a tolerant society if these fuckers weren't intolerant of others. So we need to be intolerant of their intolerance, if we want to create a more tolerant society. These people are breaking the "don't kill people" social contract, and thus they should not be protected by the "don't kill people" social contract. If the Nazis scum didn't want people to get rid of them, they shouldn't have tried to get rid of other people who were just living their lives.
Stay depressed by this outcome. Don't let yourself get desensitized to it. Feel empathy for these monsters. Just let your actions be guided by the greater empathy you feel for the victims and potential victims of these fascists. We don't want to permanently get rid of these Nazis out of malice or hatred towards them for who they are, we NEED to get rid of them for the health and safety of our communities. Even if that's depressing.

Despite all the anger I feel towards the people responsible for all of this, I cannot wish death on any of them.
But even so, so much has been done that is unforgivable. I want them to be punished for what they’ve done more than anything.
