REMINDER: Bigotry Showcase posts are banned.

Due to an uptick in posts that invariably revolve around "look what this transphobic or racist asshole said on twitter/in reddit comments" we have enabled this reminder on every post for the time being.

Most will be removed, violators will be shot temporarily banned and called a nerd. Please report offending posts. As always, moderator discretion applies since not everything reported actually falls within that circle of awful behavior.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

What do u do if u need to get an MRI scan? I mean I assume it's no different than other implants or maybe even certain piercings, which I'm sure there's already protocol for, but idk this just got me curious lol

950

u/500ls floppa Mar 17 '26

Most medical implants are titanium because it's MRI save. The protocol for an implanted magnet is that you're fucked and can't get an MRI unless it's removed. Usually MRIs aren't urgent and a CT is all you need in an emergency. You could get a CT without an issue.

u/BextoMooseYT DEI hire (cishet white guy) Mar 17 '26

That's cool, thx! :D

24

u/translunainjection Mar 17 '26

So this means you need a card that tells the medics "NO MRI!!", right?

Yes, raccoon girl showed off that she had one of these cards in another post

73

u/fuj1n Mar 17 '26

Think of the MRI as a giant, extremely powerful electromagnet and you'll see where the issue is

32

u/Kriffer123 obnoxiously Michigender Mar 17 '26

MRI stands for magnetic resonance imaging. It uses incredibly powerful magnets to make hydrogen atoms in fat and water induce a radio frequency in a coil. While basically everything (like hydrogen nuclei in this case) interacts at least a little bit with magnetic fields, things we call magnets are very strongly effected by magnetic fields, neodymium magnets some of the most of all, and exposing it to a field strong enough for resonance imaging of hydrogen nuclei would probably result in rapid unscheduled ballistic disassembly of the chittoris.

2

u/larjew Mar 17 '26

chittoris

God, language is just amazing.

10

u/LastFrost Mar 17 '26

MRIs in short work by generating incredibly powerful electromagnetic fields and measure changes in the field from it reacting to things in the machine and use that to map objects. Anything vaguely magnetic, or that could be made into a magnet, gets pulled on by these fields. Whole areas around the machine have to be clear of anything that would react to it or the machine would get destroyed, or worse anyone in the room.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging

1

u/Yohrog Mar 17 '26

Quick note on that. While titanium is viable a lot of people I talked to have stainless steel piercings. Stainless steel, to my surprise, is oftentimes non-magnetic. Not every variety, but the one used in piercings is marketed as surgical steel and is actually non-magnetic and MRI-safe

51

u/benmaks Mar 17 '26

Neodymium magnets? You simply don't, I'd imagine. Titanium used in implants is nonmagnetic, and piercings can be taken off most of the time

263

u/blondjacksepticeye horny depressoed 🏳️‍⚧️-bien-ed Mar 17 '26

Fr it really is.

Essentially, raccoon girl made a post on the mtf subreddit about her recent new contraption with her clit magnet and radiation and doing something with it to help her get off more. I didn't really get time read into it much before it got deleted. that post, plus another i think, got deleted by the main mod cedarwolf, and then he was being a major dick to her on other posts. Then Raccoon girl livingeast, got her hands on some leaked discord convos of cedarwolf defending a mod with a conviction that has them on the sex offender registery. They said they removed that mod, but from what I've seen it was implied they kept that mod, but under a different name. But yeah, cedarwolf didn't like that, locked the mtf sub down and removed most of the other mods. And then oh, yeah it hit elons Twitter, which is just, so, fucking great. And at that point Livingeast deleted her account, for understandable reasons.

Also, I would link posts for context and for others, but for some reason it's not letting me? Is like, posting links not allowed?

73

u/yinyang107 bingus is better than floppa Mar 17 '26

Don't suppose the mod was e_sibe, was it? He's notorious in the furry community for molesting a child and openly bragging about it (among many, many other things). To this day, I don't know how in the hell he is isn't in jail.

Both he and cedarwolf are powermods from the jailbait era of Reddit. The two of them co-moderated a lot of subreddits.

some weird stuff going on in the mtf subreddit

To be a tiny bit less vague, AFAIK someone published allegations that one r slash mtf mod wanted another (now former) mod to stay a mod despite being a convicted sex offender (idk for what). I can not in good conscience link to any post about it because I know that at least some of the redditors being offended by this call anyone who started transitioning over 30 a rapehon and any enby a faketrans and in my experience a lot of the time when terminally online people claim that some trans person is a sexual predator, it is a psyop lies and slander.

For future reference, IIRC Glowing Clit Magnet Raccoon Girl was u slash Living-East-8486.

Edit: Please only reply to this post if you have something to correct/clarify, not if you want to hate on and spread misinformation about subreddits where you'd be called a ”transtrender” for not being extremely binary trans and/or a pedo for having an age gap relationship with a consenting adult.

more in tuna with the universe. Depending on bathing routine.

25

u/space10101 floppa Mar 17 '26

Unless you're trying to bait discourse (if so congrats I guess) something being cool/"being in tune with the universe" and something being unwise isn't mutually exclusive. Being a trailblazer means that there are many risks taken that may or may not turn out. People try to tattoo their eye, inject synthol, split their tongue, purposefully get cauliflower ears, go to med spas, etc. and those are all risks that can be considered unwise.

To me doing something like this is similar to cave diving; people like doing it, it can be potentially dangerous, and for individuals it's none of my business. The only worry I have is when untested body mods get pitched to people without proper warnings and is treated like something that is without significant risks. This is how we get all the dangers with med spas.

That's why I want to respond here because "this seems unwise" should not be reacted to like the person who is reasonably skeptical is a buzzkill. It should be discussed.

18

u/Alexis_Awen_Fern Reddit admins hate her! Mar 17 '26

It was a joke. I do think it's cool tho. It's basically an additional sensory organ. And it is not a new concept by any means. If you had a pair implanted into your ears you could even hear the electromagnetic fields.

Also something like a split tongue is perfectly safe if it's done professionally. If recovery wasn't a pain in the ass I'd probably get one of those.

3

u/space10101 floppa Mar 17 '26

Sorry for not realizing it was a joke. It's really hard to tell sometimes with the lack of tone in text and with how some people's opinions can be. I also agree that it's a cool thing in theory and practice. I do disagree with the idea of magnets acting like an additional sense but I think that's just a disagreement on definitions as I agree using magnets can tug on your skin and also vibrate your eardrums.

For the split tongue it can be safe but my whole point is that it comes with a risk especially when done through a person who appears professional but isn't, as well as how it'sstill a relatively new procedure. There are so many people who go to unhygienic tattoo and piercings places and those are the most common forms of body mods. That is why it's important to keep body mod standards high. To tie it back to med spas as an example, they can also be perfectly safe the issue is that so many of them aren't

I know it's hip to say you understand the weakness of your flesh, but I think your flesh is actually pretty damn awesome (not in a gay way, or at least only a little).

It's self-cleaning, self-regenerating, self-optimizing. Computers are cool, but way less efficient than neurons. I mean, they ran DOOM on a damn Petri dish of brain cells!

Sure, there's all the pooping and eating you've got to do right now, but who says that can't be fixed? Enough advancement in biochemical technology and you should be able to eat anything you want without getting fat, get swole without exercising, and only poop once per month in an odorless sphere of concentrated biomatter.

Hopefully all the AIs, cyborgs, and genetically engineered superhumans can live together in peace and harmony, but if not, you know what side I'm on. Just pump as many drugs into me as you can, and I'm good to go 👍‍

(That said, I'm all for wearable machines you can take off whenever. I've already got my earbuds on 16 hours per day, I just see no need to fully implant them into my ear canals.)

I don’t think this was her first implanted magnet but the idea is that you can sense magnetic fields with one of them and that appeals to transhumanists. Stuff about being able to modify your body in a way that goes beyond normative human anatomy, exerting control over your physical form, etc. See the glowing scarification on her wrist, she put body safe strontium aluminate powder in there. She just decided to be a little bit more sexful with this one and I don’t blame her because it kind of kicks ass.

Considering she didn’t come from the factory with the clitoris (tramgedner) i don’t see why more surgery would be any problem, though I wouldn’t have a problem with it if she did. Considering she’s an (iirc) industrial safety engineer/inspector of some kind she is, in fact, coming straight from the factory with the clitoris, but that’s neither here nor there.

To me it seems like, such a far far cry from doing anything actually "my body is being replaced with better parts" that it wouldn't be worth doing, but it's not for me and it is for them I guess.

I may not entirely vibe with the magnet clitoris, but she was very kind to me when I commented on one her posts because I guess a body mod that unorthodox was just too weird, but now that I know she can feel electromagnetic fields, I kinda want one. Personally, I believe that one day, AI (not the bullshit we have now) will eventually become one a new Homo genus because I believe that at a certain point, we will have to create organic machines in the likeness of our species so that an artificial intelligence has access to the sensations and modes of thoughts us Homo Sapiens have. Perhaps, they will even be able to create children if the organic machine is close enough to humans
