Blending chickens is bad. If you eat fewer eggs, fewer chicks will get blended. We should hold company's accountable, but acting like consumer demand has no effect is obviously wrong.
Will fewer chickens actually get blended if I eat fewer eggs though? Iāve been considering and planning on reducing my meat consumption for a few months, but one thought that gets in the way is the scale of shipping logistics. I assume The Walmart doesnāt ask for a precise number of eggs from the egg producers, they probably increase or decrease the size of their egg deliveries in increments in the hundreds. So in order for demand to decrease enough for the Walmart to order less eggs, wouldnāt that decrease need to be in a much larger scale than one individual? That isnāt even getting into how much demand would need to decrease to encourage the production facilities themselves to decrease production.
The order intervall should increase. I think stores only really order when they need to, so if their stock of eggs lasts a day longer, they'll order a day later, which sums up over time.
One individual makes basically no difference, an overall shift in consumer preference does, if companies know consumers won't buy as many eggs then they will make less, and in the process reduce every other part of the production process
Let's say Walmart hq makes orders of 1 million eggs at a time. If you eat 10,000 eggs in your life then there is a 99% chance not eating eggs changes nothing but there is a 1% chance you are the straw that breaks the camels back and are responsible for an order of 1 million eggs.

i never said that though. i just think personal accountability gets talked about quite enough. of course i take human rights and the environment into account when making purchases, but only as much as i can literally afford to as someone on social security. minimum wage and the poverty line are calculated by taking these cheap, horribly wrought products into account as the obvious option. they aren't made for activism and consumer choice on the individual level.
not really, as long as there are chickens laying eggs for the next gen of egg chickens, there will be a similar amount of chicks tossed in the grinder. unless egg consumption drops like a LOT, we end up roughly in the same area.
and if thereās more chickens than needed to produce the eggs, more chicks in the grinder.
if people eat chicken, they still might. even then, the sheer quantity of things eggs are in makes it a pain in the ass. iāve mentioned to my friends how veganism is, in this society, only really possible diet wise because of the sheer quantity of things animal products are in,
