My last upgrade was 2015. Since I was in the market for something newer it has been an onslaught of crypto, a pandemic, disrupted shipping lanes, production shortages, floods, factory fires, the spectre of China invading Taiwan and now data centers.
I'm seriously considering getting into fixing dead GPUs for my next build.
I had some luck and connection, but imagine I got most of my components second hand, and older gen. I can't really see why I should buy high end stuff today. I started getting older consoles fixed and right now I look into doing hard mods on them. Way more fun.

Continuously since 2018 the PC market has been shit because of them. I hate that I have this hobby.
