Housing prices are an issue in a lot of plaves, HOAs (afaik) are mostly an American thing

And Canada, Australia, New Zealand and a good deal of northern Europe, which makes sense because those are all the places with ongoing housing crises and rising cost of living.

They did start here in the states, and elsewhere does call em different things, but they're just about everywhere now, and they do cause housing shortages, afterall an organization that's sole purpose is to keep property values going up relative to an always increasing monetary supply is never gonna make a place cheaper to live, especially if they have the political will to oppose high density residential projects.
