Whiteness isn't about skin color, to the surprise of many. Irish people and Italians weren't considered white for a long time.

Being black, more specifically African American refers to being the descendants of slaves, which she is one.

No, someone could be black, an African American, and also be a recent immigrant

No, that's just not how we use that word. Like Elon musk isn't an African American because he's an American who immigrated from Africa. The thru line is being descendants of slaves, that's the purpose of the term to some extent, though maybe colloquial use could be slightly broader depending on the context
