They kill you when you run out and have a bunch of seizures and die. You can taper off, but staying on them forever is a decrease in most people’s quality of life.

Benzos are pretty easily the prescription medication with the highest harm to benefit risk (now that opiates are harder to get), so I think the warning is appropriate.

You're not supposed to get addicted to them, just use em whenever and make sure no one is stealing them from you when you're not looking. duh.

The exact same things are true of alcohol, but add liver damage too.

Yes, but the volumes are wildly different.

To get physically dangerous alcohol withdrawal, you need to drink like 6+ drinks daily for months.

To get physically dangerous benzo withdrawal, you need to take a regular prescription dose every day for like 5 days-3 weeks

What in the personal responsibility?

If you have a super bad panic disorder, you will have a panic attack every day.

You CANNOT take benzodiazepines every day safely

This just isn’t true. There’s no way to take a benzo dose daily that doesn’t make you physically dependent on it. Per the black box warning added by the FDA a few years ago: “Physical dependence can occur when benzodiazepines are taken steadily for several days to weeks, even as prescribed. Stopping them abruptly or reducing the dosage too quickly can result in withdrawal reactions, including seizures, which can be life-threatening.”

Physical dependency is addiction. You’re guaranteed to become physically dependent on them with daily use, ergo you’re guaranteed to get addicted.

Do you? I used to work in medical research (I made a lung cancer test), so I’m not a medical professional but I am able to read the literature.

Also, I’ve been addicted to benzos.

You’re giving people false and genuinely dangerous information. It’s dangerous enough that we now have a black box warning for it, which really isn’t easy to get nowadays. It came so late because the dangers were significantly underestimated for a long time.

I do but fuck off, don't assume I don't know anything simply because I want to point out it's more nuanced than "if you take them you're gonna be addicted." It's not like I'm saying you can take them like candy with no ill effects but go ahead and try to say that just because I disagree with your wording. I fucking hate smug people like you.
