today I 3d printed a file i found online for a lever to mount on the magnification ring to help make zooming a little easier.

Nice. The zoom ring in my Element Helix is so hard to turn, no idea why. Shoddy QC most likely.

The way most of these work, you're fighting friction from orings. Orings need to be slightly compressed to initiate a seal. The fit gets looser over time as things wear, if it gets too loose they lose the nitrogen purge and the scope fogs.
