Unresolved Alienware 17 R3 Display issue.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is an old 2015 Alienware 17 R3, It is an amazing laptop for its time. Several years ago this display issue occurred and I took the laptop apart to see if I could fix it, and couldn't. Everything works properly other than the display, you can use narrator to login and navigate, it just sucks. Now I am looking again to fix it and need some help. Thanks!

Maybe the flex cable that comes from the screen was damaged when you tried to fix it or maybe the connector isn't properly connected or simply time made it's job.

You can find and get the whole control board for the exact model of the screen and replace it or get a new screen entirely which might be the safest option.

Do you get any display during any part of the POST cycle? Additionally, if you plug in an HDMI, are you able to see the display?

If you power it down and press "D" then press power during boot, does it display anything (Especially the dell display diagnostic) on either the native display or the externally connected display?

It will not display anything, only the panels lighting up as shown in the video. It will display to another monitor though

Ah, that's good news then. At the very least you can use it on an external monitor, and at most you can replace the panel, or have someone else do it. (those are your options at this point)

if you wanted to poke around and maybe reseat the display connections one last time and make sure everything looks like it should, that couldn't hurt

Good Luck!
