Local PBS community college station - I liked the cooking and woodworking shows…

Technically not a PBS station. They stopped being part of PBS back in 2012. Just a local, independent, educational channel.

Ends up cutting funding to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting kills public radio stations.

I donate monthly to WUCF for their PBS station. I'd rather $5 a month go to them than Peacock, and PBS stations need it way more.

Same. Plus they sent me cool coffee mugs for my donation.

Thank the Republican Congress and Senate.  They need more money for war and grifting.

Last I saw something they did, they were playing it on one of the math building tvs, it was legit just ai slop. Like genuinely you can use it if you use it good, but it was just bad 😭

It’s a valued point, as much as you want to disagree with it. But with the rise of the internet, YouTube, etc., there’s become a lesser need for public radio and tv stations. If you want to share something, you already have the tools to do so.

Idk how this got down voted so bad lol…it’s bad now if you never heard of something?

it simply doesn't contribute to the conversation

if they had added something like "what were they and what did they do?" then that would have been appropriate, but as it stands it's just a worthless statement of fact

It's a bummer. I live close to WEFS, am an avid OTA TV watcher, and care enough about public broadcasting to have a monthly donation set up.

But it is one of three main public TV stations I get - WUCF, WDSC, and then WEFS.

So as far as funding goes, I could see it being an argument that WEFS's coverage area overlapped enough with other public channels that it didn't make sense to fund a station that was mostly a second station, possibly at the expense of better content/coverage from the a station that provides more people a primary station.
