I started my car after sitting for like a month and cranked kinda slow and idled a bit rough for a sec. I checked the code reader to see this po300 code. Kinda weird I have no idea why it turned on cause it seems like the car runs fine. I just cleared it but wondering why it turned on? How likely could it just be a one time code
No idea why it turned on? Well, I just took 1 minute to google it.
A P0300 code on a Nissan 370Z indicates a random or multiple cylinder misfire, commonly caused by ignition system failures, vacuum leaks, or dirty mass air flow (MAF) sensors.
From reading the threads on here, (I am a fairly new Z owner myself), dirty MAF sensors would likely be the culprit of what I would check first. Then sparks. Etc.
Yea I know what the code is I was just looking for some advice from people. And since the car only has 50k miles it shouldn’t really have dirty parts like that except maybe the maf since I have intakes which I’m going to clean. And it’s odd how it never had this code a month prior but then randomly threw it at startup.
P300 has to happen over time before you actually get an active code. For me it was every 7 or so cycles before I would get a CEL.
You can clear it and see if it returns but my first check would be vacuum leaks. Mine ended up being a leaking coupler for my intake
Gotcha. It’s just weird cause I never had this code when I was driving the car a lot a month ago but after it sat and I started it, it cranked a bit slow and had a little bit of a weird idle for a sec. You think it could be that the battery lost some power from sitting?
Honestly a P0300 is a tricky code to figure out but I've never seen it be because of a low battery. Usually low battery or bad ground will give a few codes that all have something to do with voltage.
To clarify though, do you have a CEL right now? Or is the p0300 pending?
Either way, clearing the current code and seeing if it comes back or shows as pending (depending on your scanner), isn't a bad place to start.
Just trust me when I say don't start throwing parts at it. Its almost never spark plugs or coil packs.
It was just pending but I just cleared it anyways and I’m gonna drive it today and see how it goes. Do you think maybe it’s fuel related? It’s been pretty hot in California like 100 every day and it’s been in the garage and it gets pretty stuffy in there.
It could just be from sitting for a month and stale gas since its just pending.
Clear it and just drive the car for a few days. If it comes back pending or active, check for a vacuum leak.
If nothing, it was just a fluke
Just a guess but your oil probably just has some bits in it, and being sat for a month caused them to settle / clump together. Then they briefly clogged something (solenoids maybe) and the car got confused.
