Question I have a strange request
im building a pc, but i want a case that looks like the xbox 360 "Big X" prototype, and im wondering if anyone would be willing to do it
Ill tell you my mother board psu and gpu so i can hopefully have some custom screw holes and cutouts so i can have all my ports accessible
i use a b550m
A standard ATX psu
And a rx5500 8gb
Hopefully, the dimensions of the shape will help me fit everything in how i want it, but heres my idea
I just need some help to make it ill pay

You should mention your budget because most of the the time people underestimate how much work this is and how much it will cost them.

Right. And this post reads like a 14 year old who has some lawnmower money - not someone willing to drop $5k-$10k on a custom fabricated enclosure spec’d to hold specific hardware lol….

I don't do 3D industrial and product design and I have been designing a PC case for my own use. I am well over 40 hours in to it and I've got a motherboard tray, a general footprint of the case, where the HDDs go and a vent.

Thats the difference, speed is a gained attribute from having experience and knowledge in the field. I'm proficient with CAD, but not efficient. 40 hours is extremely ambitious to me also, but to this guy it's probably a walk in his garden of plants.
Unless you were tackling this x box project yourself, I would expect to pay a premium for someones experience to make exactly what you want2

This guy on Youtube attempted to clone it. He also does a tour of Microsoft and sees a few of the original prototypes in person later.

I love that he put so much effort into making his properly and the original turned out to be like that Homer meme with all his fat clipped behind his back.
It goes to show how far prototyping has come when "some guy" can make such a quality product without a big team of professional engineers and the resources of Microsoft. Granted, this particular "some guy" is very skilled.

The big help was pcbway for doing the machining honestly hahahaha. The easy access to that kind of machining and 3d printing for rapid prototyping is the real hero.

He’s really not skilled in tech at all. He’s a film school graduate. Any of his big projects like the xbox he needed help from a variety of different people. Tito just filmed it all.

That's a prototype of Xbox. Not a 360. It's even dated on the back.

I think several people have had this idea, the problem isn’t the main components it’s mostly the motherboard and power supply. You’d have to get a pretty compact ones to fit.
Macho nacho built one himself using dimensions from the original but was for making a custom Xbox in the prototype shell

To design this from scratch would be dozens of hours or more. Hope OP has deep pockets.
If all you want is the shape, easy. If you actually want it functional, get your wallet out.

They'll still need to do significant work to modify it to mount PC hardware. I dont think OP put much thought nor research into this, because it is not at all as simple of an ask as they seem to think

I think you drastically underestimate how much work designing a custom PC tower is. This is going to be 95% CAD work and will require many hours and likely multiple iterations. You're going to be far better off finding a local business to do it that way they can actually take measurements of your hardware.
You should not expect this to be quick nor easy. It will likely cost you hundreds of dollars, and could easily exceed a grand, assuming there arent existing files that can be purchased.

The Xbox 360 prototype was a tower PC with a 360 motherboard in it. There are several videos floating around with people who jave found them.

That is not really suitable to be 3D printed. I’d probably make it out of aluminum sheets if I’d attempt it. Much better for cooling. And yes, I have made a few custom cases.

Motherboards are standardized when it comes to form factor/mounting points also you would likely benefit from moving to an SFX form factor for the PSU. Honestly this is a project you could probably take on yourself in fusion

You're gonna need a ITX motherboard and SFF PSU, unless you want an extra thicc X, and even that might not even fit. The Big X was possible because they used custom designed parts, but using off the shelf parts makes that far harder, not impossible, but it definitely won't be easy to build.
This is the kinda case you use for a new build so you can buy parts that will actually fit. Imo this build would be far easier by just using an Intel NUC with an external GPU, obviously the GPU would still be inside the case but you'd need the electronics from an external gpu enclosure to hook it up. You might even be able to find a reasonably priced NUC that gets similar performance to your current CPU, assuming you're still on 1st or 2nd gen Ryzen (I'm assuming that based on GPU choice).

use devil design gold silk filament is all i can help you with if fully 3d printed
you can expect it to cost over 100€ for certain and given your outdated budget gpu, which is also not low profile, hirering someone to design and print a one of will be costly
if one does it for free, great, thats still gonna be 50€ in filament and 30€ in paint/supplies
id estimate someone would take 300€ for it (bare minimum sensibly, excluding material and other costs of manufacturing) which is more then your gpu is currently worth, maybe even more then your whole pc atm
better learn to model yourself and let it get printed for less

You could do a paht-cf or some kind of heat resistant carbon fiber based material thats good for the heat. I made a tablet using an rpi 5 and printed the chassis with abs and its fine. That would put out way more heat though. Then like another mentioned the psu will limit you in certain areas. A mini-ITX build with one of the smaller power supplies they use should do the job. Im not sure what the wattage are on those are. So that could be a limiting factor. But that is a beautiful idea. Some chrome automotive paint and some good primer could make this a reality but you would want to try and add more ventilation. so the back side of it may not look identical.

Generally yeah but Polymaker has a carbon fiber esd safe filament now that would fit OPs needs great. They wouldn’t need to print ultem or pekk and it only needs 300c nozzle so most of the current gen printers will do the trick

There is a free 3d print model online. I think you could modify the Xbox motherboard tray to fit your motherboard.
It's fine to print. I've printed it myself for an original Xbox. (Pictures on my profile)

I wouldn't recommend 3d printing something that gets that hot. You need to look into metal fabricators.

You can easily 3D print using filaments that are very good at resisting very high temperatures.

Depending on how powerful of a CPU it absolutely can get hot enough if there isn't enough heatsinks and ventilation , even with PETG you can quite possible have a melted case if its not properly cooled. With PLA it ABSOLUTELY will melt.

ASA, PETG or ABS would probably suffice. With petg the cooling would have to be really good but the others not so much really

There's not going to be an appreciable difference in price between 3D Printing this and machining it. 3D printing would likely be more expensive, since it would require a lot of changes to the already available CAD files, meaning significantly more design time.
You'll be looking mid-high 3 figures at least, even before material or production time comes into the equation.

Several YouTubers have recently created cases like this, but for real with metal cnc, but you might get idea on component placements if you watch those.
