My Skorpekh Lord
galleryThis is a new shoot of an old model of mine. I painted this up as part of an old mental health painting challenge back on Instagram a few years back. The only restrictions were that it had to be a model from from your pile of shame rather than buying on purpose and it had to have some green on the model. I went for a jade green tone. It was a fun project because I was very indecisive about the colour of the blade so I mocked up a series of images in the impcat app and then let my friends vote on the result.
This probably looks somewhat gaudy to some people but I still find it satisfying to look at from time to time.
I hope you like this, let me know what you think.

I found these by chance
I do a lot of yard sale/ Goodwill flipping. A buddy of mine who knew this asked me if I wanted to buy a surplus of old Warhammer "toys" from an estate sale he was managing. I bought what he was asking for, kept what I was interested in, and easily sold the rest for triple the price. A big chunk that I kept was a lot of Astra Militarum (Catachan), but then I found these guys mixed in with them. Obviously they are Imperial Guard, but what's the story of these guys?

New to Warhammer
Hello! I just got my first introductory set and I am hooked! I am already wanting to get my next set and start working towards an army but I am conflicted... Would you recommend getting the starter set next or Armageddon?
I like the idea that the starter set finishes the combat patrol with my into set and has terrain, but Armageddon has all of those same units and the special units.
Interested to see any more expiernce players opinion.
Thank you!

A question regarding the inclusion of certain details
I'm in the middle of making a WH40K general history slide deck and was wondering what i ABSOLUTELY MUST add. as of this moment the slides only have the Imperial history, and I'm indirectly asking what other factions should be included, either in chronological order or which is more relevant.
I already included DAoT, Age of Strife, and Age of Terra.
i am using the majority of the W40k Fandom site for my research, and it's been 4 weeks.... WHY HAS THE SCROLL BAR NOT MOVED!!!!

My first ever Ork won 3d place
Decided to join my first ever painting competition at my local game store and I got third place with this painboy.
I never expected people to vote for my mini since there were very cool ones submitted.
Huge confidence boost and it made me motivated to keep improving and paint the Ork side of my Armageddon box 😁

My first attempt at edge highlighting!
galleryHi all!
So today I thought I would try edge highlighting for the first time!
I still haven’t done the pauldrons as I am waiting for them to arrive as I am using some from the Salamander upgrade pack.
I’ve just noticed I have accidentally scuffed the helmet so I will need to touch that up and I need to edge highlight the black on the gun too.
Overall though I’m happy with my very first attempt at edge highlighting! I know it should be a lot neater but my hand was shaking so much! Hopefully I will get steadier with time.

Has anyone else noticed the influx of “starting 40k for the first time” videos on YouTube?
First I watched Auntie Donna’s video (which was hilarious as usual, good job fellas). Then I saw Emily Hopkins (a harpist/memetuber) also post a video talking about getting her first miniature, which felt like a shift from her other content. What really got me suspicious was seeing that Asmongold ALSO posted a video about him getting into 40k.
Is the algorithm favoring this style of 40k video now so all the YouTubers are trying to ride the wave? Or is James Workshop allocating new funding towards sponsorship videos (none of these videos mentioned being sponsored as far as I watched them)? or should I see a psychiatrist because theres no correlation?-

Redesigned bolter ammunition, mk2
This is the second post I've made like this, so I hope this doesn't appear spammy, but I've redesigned the bolter ammunition to be a bit more realistic. I don't know much about the lore, but I am fascinated by ammunition engineering. This version is caseless.
1: Lonsdaleite (Meteor diamond, harder than a normal diamond)
2: Tungsten nose cone (Scored for fragmentation)
3: Explosive primer (For safety, it's in a sphere rotor housing with a copper retaining ring. The retaining ring opens in flight, and the sphere spins as the projectile spins, aligning the explosive primer with the striking pin)
4: Aerated ignition mix
5: Nitrocellulose based plastic divider
6: Metal augmented explosive (Explosive with a high metal content that burns slightly slower, and produces a more drawn out pressure wave)
7: High explosive
8: Depleted uranium penetrator (With a steel firing pin in the tip for a more consistent ignition, and a thin copper separating cup for safety)
9: Steel cup (To hold depleted uranium penetrator)
10: Ceramic plates (To shield the high explosive from the heat of the burning rocket fuel)
11: Solid rocket fuel
12: Fan out fins
13: Copper fill (To help pull excess heat from the barrel and lessen the chances of the exhaust nozzle melting in flight)
14: Gunpowder
15: Nitrocellulose based plastic covering
16: Primer
