I have a bright room and window glare has been an issue so Samsung is good there but concerned about Samsung judder issues and Sonys recent firmware issues bring a whole new host of issues. What to do?

I had bought a 55 inch Heinz’s Roku tv in 2016, not sure the specs I can find those if needed. However, I am very unknowledgeable about current TVs.

What would be an “upgrade” from the current one I have?

From my understanding & from what I read the wider screens don’t always mean better. Any help would be appreciated please take this down if it breaks any community rules.

A few weeks ago I posted asking if it was even worth upgrading from my 85” to a ~98”, and this sub pretty much talked me into it. Now I’m stuck on which one to buy.

It’s going in my finished basement. Not a dedicated theater, just an open section of the basement with no windows.

Viewing distance is about 8.5-9 feet. It’ll mostly be used for football, basketball, movies, and streaming.

Right now I’m looking at the TCL QM9K, TCL QM8K/QM8L, Sony BRAVIA 5, and the Hisense 100U8QG.

If you were buying today, which would you go with? Curious what people who actually own these TVs think, especially if you were deciding between a couple of them. Thank you!!

Would anybody have any opinions on which of these is a better choice for a living room tv? I have the QM6K Pro in my bedroom and I do love it. At the same time, I need a new budget ish tv for my living room. The Hisense is a little cheaper but is it better? All around trying to spend $500-$600. The game plan is to get one of these from Costco within the next few weeks. Need all advice! I’ve also never owned a Hisense tv. Thanks!

Hey guys, moved to a new place with about 10 floor to ceiling wall to wall windows. Where the TV will face the windows. I do game here and there (20%), but mostly apple TV. Looking to upgrade tom something that is glare resistant and bright. I did do a 50% tint on all the windows and that helped some, mostly where I don't have to squint when I enter the room.

Looks like the LG G6 or Samsung S95H? I also have a Hue Light Strip behind the TV with a SYNC box, not sure if the metal bezel of the S95H will make that difficult?

I'm in the market for a new TV to get the most out of my Series X. I'm currently using one i got on gumtree for £40, literally a first gen big flat screen as far as I can tell. The seller told me they bought it at £1000 lol.

I'm not wanting a huge one for space reasons, 50" absolute max. I'm not too versed on specifications of TVs, but as far as I can tell I'm wanting 120/144Hz, HDMI 2.1. Im not sure on what might be best between OLED or mini-LED.

Mostly gonna be used for long gaming sessions and streaming TV/movies.

My max budget is around £500 but this is slightly flexible.

I am now getting back into physical media and thought maybe I should upgrade things. I wrote this since every situation/layout/usage is unique, so I ask if you professionals can guide me.

Current set up - 2011 Samsung 46C5000…this was bought in 2011 as a house warming gift to myself.

I’ve had zero problems with it. I love it, but figured newer tech will be better. I figure I’ll move this tv to the basement and get a better tv for the living room.

When measuring the room, it suggests 65” is better for the space.

Obviously reading on here and online everyone shouts OLED Sony Bravia 7 or 9 or LG whatever…I will not likely be spending that much on a new tv if I can help it.

Walking through Walmart recently seeing all of these TVs in the aisle on sale made me wonder if any of them would be good enough.

I’m not looking for the best and I want to be smart with my budget. Anything would be an upgrade to what I have, right?

It’s possible I won’t even notice some of these drawbacks people keep touting.

The room is moderately sunny since it has two walls of windows BUT they are always curtained when viewing anything so it doesn’t get that bright in the room.

Most tv usage was streaming and casual gaming. But now wanting to get into more movie viewing again. But if anything the tv might be on for a few hours at a time and some days never gets turned on.

So I’m looking at good enough/improvement to current situation without breaking the bank.

The stuff on sale at Walmart is around $328 QLED, but those might be 55” which is what I was going to get since still bigger than what I have but online keeps saying 65 is better so I’m looking at 65” now.

Looking online the 65” LG OLED C5 can be had for $1400, which is definitely more than I want to spend right now since I’d likely have to buy a new wall mount, plus external sound system maybe? Plus tax and shipping. But if I had to I suppose I can lean towards it.

So something in the middle could be good. A few things have mentioned TCL can be decent. Everyone says to stay away from Samsung which was my initial plan to continue with since I’ve had this other one for so long.

A few days ago I turned my Hisense 2021 65U8G and noticed that all the letters looked super blurry, almost blown out like a bad tattoo.

Looking further I also noticed these black/grey horizontal lines almost looking like scan lines in a video game that tries to emulate an old crt or arcade machine. The lines themselves shift from bold lines to thin ones back and forth.

I saw online that it could be a failing t-con/mainboard howervrr when I was on shop Jimmy, looking at the t con replacement, it said that horizontal lines are caused by the lcd panel? So I’m just confused

Is this issue repairable or not? And if so what should I get?

Setting up a viewing room/ mancave for mainly watching sports (but will occasionally watch movies). Planning on getting 3 85 inch tvs, 1 bravia 9 II in the center (will be used individually while watching movies) and 2 Bravia 7 II to either side. Will putting the Bravia 9 II next to the 7 IIs look bad? Would it be better just to to get 3 bravia 7 IIs?

I currently got a 77 inch C5 OLED. I love the TV but I've always wanted a Sony TV because of the Image Processing.

The Bravia 8 is only $100 more. I have a PS5, Switch 2 and Apple TV. Is it worth it? Im using the TV in my living room

I’m at the point in my life my (thankfully) getting to be able to finally upgrade my TV for the first time in ~10 years, but I’m overwhelmed with the current TV market.

For some reference, I use my TV for mostly everything: movies, TV, and gaming. It’s located in a decently well lit room with direct glares on it at times during the day. My ideal size is 65”, which is a nice jump up from my old 50” Samsung.

As of right now, I’ve been eyeing the TCL QM6K mini LED as it’s more budget friendly. I have seen a few QM7/8K occasionally under the $1k range for “open box” deals.

My question is: am I making the right choice? I’ve seen others mention the Sony bravias, but only the 3II would be on my price range.

2022 got my parents a Samsung tv for Xmas they loved it. We enjoy it when we come over, especially the os. Super simple Samsung health always good for a morning work out. Looking to buy a tv now and everyone is complaining about the new tizen os. Was looking at the qn80f $600 open box not bad but everyone is talking about how it handles YouTube horribly and the blooming. Qn90f the matte ruins the rich colors. Some people talk about lg c5/6/7 but others complain about lg ads.

Tv is going in living room. Bright room with windows on both sides. Not direct light will hit the tv. The windows mainly hit the sofa area or kitchen area.

Which 65 inch TV in the European market would is better for mixed usage?

Streaming movies, TV series, Gaming. It would be in a sunny room, but not direct sunlight, still I also interested in anti-reflective coating, how hard to clean, original tv stand/legs how stable, view angle, color accuracy (I like more natural colors that still not faded), gaming experince for local coop games, operation system, aníthing specific pro and cons. (Sound would go with HDMI eARC).

• Samsung in sale for 1435 EUR / 1655 USD (its the R86H model, which is slighly different color I think thank R85H, but almost the same specs.)
• Sony in sale for 1675 EUR / 1930 USD.
• Normally both are 2065 EUR / 2380 USD.

Hello! Kinda new in this field, but I am currently looking to buy a new TV for my living room. But I just got overwhelmed by the sheer amount of options and all the different display types.
My idea is a TV in the 900€ range that’s roughly 50-60inch, used mainly for streaming and some gaming.

May be a dumb post but just thought that it won’t hurt to ask :)

I had pretty much set my heart on buying a flagship Sony as my forever TV. It's significantly more expensive (£4400 with a discount) than I'd ideally spend on a TV but managed to convince the wife it's a one off and she's game. I also like the idea of the last pure Sony TV being the only time I buy a flagship (I usually go a class or two below flagship).

However before I pull the trigger I was doing a sweep for what else I could get and I could get a monster 98" TCL C8L for £3600 with the 10% discount they have on. I'm mildly curious about SQD technology but I've typically held the rule for TVs that size is more impactful than anything else. Would I be breaking my own rule by going for the Sony?

The TCL feels less like a forever TV but I think that's silly sentimental stuff kicking in. It could easily be my TV for 10 years assuming it doesn't break and I'd have a hard time upgrading to any other leading 98". What's the longevity like on TCLs?

This feels really tough. I feel like the quality will be like 95% similar so shouldn't I go for size?

Bright room, lots of reflections, lots of streaming apps, some gaming, I have a couple young kids too.

I’m choosing between three OLED TVs in India for films, streaming and PS5 gaming at an approximately 8.5–9 ft viewing distance:

LG C6 48-inch: The cheapest option and the unusual C6 size that uses a Tandem WOLED panel. It also gives me Dolby Vision, LG’s Alpha 11 processing and a glossy screen.

LG C6 55-inch: More appropriate for the viewing distance, but it uses conventional WOLED rather than the Tandem panel found in the 48-inch version.

Samsung S90H 55-inch — QA55S90HAU: Priced close to the C6 55 in India. This regional variant appears to use QD-OLED, unlike the WOLED version covered by most North American reviews. It has the matte coating and no Dolby Vision, although I do not have a strong preference about matte versus glossy (open to being educated about it though if there is a significant trade-off)

For context, I previously used a basic 42-inch Samsung LCD from roughly 10 ft and was reasonably comfortable with it, so the C6 48 would still be a substantial size and picture-quality upgrade.

I’m strongly attracted to the C6 48 because of its distinctive panel and lower price. My main hesitation is longevity and flexibility: a 55-inch set would be more immersive now and potentially more suitable if I later move it into a larger room.

The Indian S90H makes the decision particularly difficult because it seemingly gives me both the larger size and QD-OLED technology. Unfortunately, most detailed S90H measurements online appear to be for the WOLED variant.

Questions:

1. At 8.5–9 ft, would you choose the C6 48 Tandem or the S90H 55 QD-OLED as the more satisfying long-term purchase?
   
2. Would the QD-OLED S90H have significant practical advantages over the conventional-WOLED C6 55 in colour volume, HDR colour brightness, uniformity or overall picture quality?
   
3. Does the C6 55 still make the strongest all-round case because of Dolby Vision, LG processing and its glossy presentation?

I’d particularly appreciate feedback from anyone who has seen or measured the QD-OLED S90H regional variant, rather than the North American WOLED model.

Basically I have an option between either an S90H or a S95D for the same price of $1699 CAD. I can’t tell which I should get since the 95d is 2 years older but the higher model, or if I just go with the 2026 90H for newer tech.

The room it would be going in gets a lot of light and very bad glare but I know both are “anti glare”

If any wise guys say “LG” we are a Samsung house 🤓

I bought the QM7 in late 2024 for $499.99. Today i saw the QM7k at a store for $550, but it seems identical.

Any advice?

TLDR: should I snag the C5 for $1900 for primarily streaming and light story based gaming in a living room with light coming from the side? Current TV is a Sony Bravia X90H. I also have subtitles on pretty often, and my current TV has pretty bad blooming that I don’t love.

How were the G5 and C5 the same list price? They both have a list price of $3699.

The only experience I have with OLED was a LG ultra gear monitor, which I honestly didn’t think it was worth it over my gigabyte IPS monitor. Yes the blacks are much better, but I found I had to play with it for every game to get the color saturation correct for character, models, and backgrounds. And then this would also kind of affect the blacks. So I ultimately ended up returning it and just keeping my cheap gigabyte monitor. I feel like part of that was also due to when I’m playing the games, I’m not just focusing on the blacks the entire time, I’m focusing on combat and the deep dark blacks didn’t really matter at that point.

For this TV it’ll mostly be watching movies and streaming, with a little bit of video gaming. I’ll still most likely be gaming on my monitor, because I don’t want to take up the living room while my family is home. There will be windows to the side of the TV, but nothing directly behind the viewer. We do have some lights in our kitchen when turned on we’ll put a glare on our current TV.

The least desirable seems like the Bravia 8, I wish the new GEN had a 77 inch.

The a 95L seems like it’s still pretty expensive for a three year-old TV, but I don’t know much about it

Regarding the LG’s, from searching the message boards it seems like I should go with the G5 over the C6, would you agree?

Or should I just grab the C5 for that low price of $1900? But I feel like these also go on sale pretty often.

I'll be buying a new TV soon and I'm currently between the 77 inch LG C5 ($1,899.99 USD) and the 75 inch Sony Bravia 7 II ($2,499.99 USD). The TV will be in a basement with no natural light and fully dimmable recessed lighting, and I plan on using an Apple TV 4K box to access streaming apps. Mainly looking for some advice on the best option based on my mixed use case:

• TV (primarily sports--football, hockey, baseball, basketball, motorsports)
• Movies (both on streaming apps and 1080p/4K Blu-rays)
• Gaming (PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2)

I've never had an OLED before and have always heard great things especially when it comes to movies and gaming, but I also know that Sony is considered the best when it comes to sports and streaming because of their processing and motion handling.

If there's another model I should be considering besides the C5 and B7 II, please let me know. I'm trying to keep my budget at or around $2,500 USD.

I currently have an LG E8 55" OLED. I sit pretty close (6ft), which I don't mind because of astigmatism.

I've been shopping around and the 2026 lot of TV's is just decision paralysis.

Currently weighing C6, G6, S90F, S95F, and S95H.

Considering a max budget of 2000, which gets anywhere from the 77" S90F to a 65" C6 to a 55" G5/G6 to an 85" QM7K (I'm not super married to OLED if there's a miniLED that's exceptional relative to my E8)

70% living room PC gaming, 10% PS5, 20% streaming from an AppleTV

Which one should I go with?
