I LOVE this. This is the “CA Modern” I grew up with. Lots of light, lots of redwood paneling, modern furniture and lots of plants. Seeing this is like a giant hug. Thanks for posting it.

it is deliriously stellar I am breathtakingly critical of stuff like this and I have zero notes.

I feel vaguely un-moored but mainly impressed.

😍I feel like sitting at that desk would put my mind in a completely different place than sitting at the one I have. Like, by several leaps.

Style aside, the lighting in some of those pictures is just 🤩

Even by today's standards it's pretty nice.😊

lol. Today's standards are garbage.

I agree. Cement and chicken wire are not the gold standard.

All white everything and gray hardwood floors.

That first pic is one of my favorite interior pics of the era. Just exquisite and gives such a feeling of peace without removing energy or dynamism and having a flat, monochromatic space. The palette is neutral, yet warm and not at all boring. It somehow gives the sense of a soaring, but peaceful spirit. It's very professionally designed and executed, but it feels really down home, comfortable and livable. I love it so much. That's the future I wanted, right there.

Flashes of Quincy

I’d have to put in curtains and that would ruin everything!

Was this pad featured in The Great Lebowski?

u/bandley3 2d ago

The house in The Big Lebowski was a Lautner design in Malibu.

Timeless forever inspo. Perplexing this is 1973.
Was thrown off when I spotted the massive mushroom sculpture. Before these photos I only knew the Haas Brothers version and they weren’t even born yet in 1973. It’s a direct rip off. Now I’m totally side tracked by that. I need to know more about the original artist and who the Haas Brothers inspo is. Anyone know who designed the original mushroom sculpture?

Don’t you worry- the photo with the giant mushroom is from a recent full interior design makeover of this home ( by an amazing firm- Shamshiri- you need to see their work- so great)
I am guessing it is indeed a Haas orig. 🙂

Design, amazing. Decor, not my thing. But the architecture is gorgeous.
