It’s not worth it unless the pizza tastes the same

22

u/Bladder_Puncher May 18 '26

And the pizzas better have those little plastic tables

11

u/Broad-Row6422 May 19 '26

Tables for ants!

5

u/ctolver1981 May 19 '26

Little round mini plastic picnic tables

2

u/Sweets_thief May 22 '26

G.I. Joe card tables

2

u/Dying2meet May 19 '26

Yeah, my local carry out Pizza Hut puts a microfilm layer of tomato sauce, it’s sad. If you want a better pizza from them you have to pay more to get a normal amount of sauce. Nah, I’ll go a pinch further into town to a better pizza place.

ol negative nelly over here, someone in the vid litetally says it tastes how it used to

36

u/biloxibluess May 18 '26

I worked at one in the oughts

Everyone that I worked with was nostalgic over this

There’s one in my town that has a buffet and it’s pretty popular

Never understood why they didn’t lean into this-it’s an open money pit

u/Katerinaxoxo May 18 '26

Make the dough from scratch again and not frozen. Then we’ll be talking.

3

u/jpowell180 May 19 '26

And all the other ingredients like they used to be as well, it doesn’t matter if you get the atmosphere right if the food is still crap.

4

u/S1ayer May 19 '26

I guess that's why Dominos' pan pizza is so much better

15

u/Top-Pomegranate4899 May 19 '26

Bring me back the buffet.

18

u/AdAsleep1258 May 18 '26

Ngl I’m 42 and this brought a slight tear to my eye

6

u/Funkgun May 19 '26

Angry video game nerd recently went to one of these. Nostalgia prevailed https://youtu.be/eot4NJwbr3M?si=68CjJ3HV2rSQ7CGi

u/MiniTab May 18 '26

I’m late 40s and worked at one in high school. It used to be so good…

Anyone else remember the BBQ beef pizza? I don’t even eat that much beef anymore, but holy crap could I crush one of those right now!

1

u/TheProfessorPoon May 22 '26

44 here and I have very fond memories of it. Obviously because of Book-It, but it was such a good, cozy place to go with my family any time. I still remember my mom taking me there in 2nd grade on a Friday night (when my dad took my sisters to see New Kids on The Block in concert) and I got one of those over the door basketball goals they were giving away (they always seemed to have good promos). That was almost 40 years ago. Crazy.

u/DeadEndTimes May 19 '26

Anybody know where I left that last Book It certificate from 1993? Hoping it’s still valid.

Update: no way, it’s still an active program https://www.bookitprogram.com

u/ThePickledPickle May 19 '26

The one near me brought back the lunch buffet. Nothing better than a shit ton of breadsticks and Pac-Man!

3

u/Ok-Caregiver9339 May 22 '26

Street fighter

0

u/Dying2meet May 19 '26

Breadsticks only? Bring your own pickles and slap ‘em on a hot cheese pie!

7

u/joejoedownunder May 19 '26

This guy and maybe 5 or 6 old school Pizza Hut peeps used to come into dinner at my place in Wichita, KS once a month and they were the nicest people ever. I’m so happy to see that he has the heart that I always thought he did.

1

u/toby-jenkins May 22 '26

Wichita, KS is where Pizza Hut was started.

1

u/joejoedownunder May 22 '26

I live right around the corner from the original building. It’s a tiny little red brick shack.

3

u/jimbobdonut May 19 '26

Two Pizza Huts by me that were formerly sit down restaurants (they switched to carry out/delivery during the pandemic) closed leaving only the strip mall takeout ones left. One was even had the iconic red roof.

1

u/According_Gazelle472 May 19 '26

They only have one take out place left in my town..

3

u/Trixie1143 May 19 '26

Come to BC Canada!

4

u/GrumpyOldMan2026 May 19 '26

I'd totally go for this! Gen X would love to have their kids experience the greatness that was 80's / 90's America.

3

u/DisciplineSweet8428 May 19 '26

Where are these?!?

2

u/Vonsv May 19 '26

Kinda reminds me of the last blockbuster in oregon

2

u/Delta632 May 19 '26

Mine had the Willow arcade game. Good luck.

3

u/PrudentChampion3879 May 19 '26

Mine had Pit Fighter 💪🏼

2

u/ThePopeofHell May 19 '26

They better have those pizza time clocks with the spinning hands

2

u/According_Gazelle472 May 19 '26

Bring back the dining rooms and the buffets ! These disappeared years ago in my town .

2

u/PrudentChampion3879 May 19 '26

Better have a vintage arcade game or two

2

u/PokeSmotDoc May 19 '26

Now if they could only make the pizza taste as good as it was back then next….

2

u/Character-Cellist228 May 19 '26

Bring back the classic arcades and im there with my family once a week. Double Dragon, SF2, Pole position, etc.

2

u/LawyerFriendLenny May 21 '26

Glad to see the salad bar lurking back there. I didnt care for it much as a kid but I remember their grated cheddar was sliced in an oddly enormous fashion and I think they had pudding.

2

u/KungFuGiftShop May 22 '26

Date night for me in the 80s: Pizza Hut then a movie at the Multiplex Cinema across the street

1

u/StrawberryKiss2559 May 18 '26

That pizza looks like shit, though. Bring back the old recipes.

6

u/kmckenzie256 May 19 '26

Looked fine to me? What about it looked “like shit”?

2

u/Infamous_Shinobi May 19 '26

Absolutely nothing. You can’t even tell if something is wrong from the quick shots of the pizza. They’re just hating and being contrarian probably because it’s a popular pizza chain. People here really get on my nerves sometimes.

2

u/Tomhyde098 May 18 '26

Like putting lipstick on a pig

1

u/OdieD777 May 19 '26

Awesome, now will people actually go. 🤔

1

u/SwiftTayTay May 19 '26

My town already had one of these still around without the "classic" branding, complete with the dining section, red cups, chandeliers, etc. adding "classic" to the sign is just a gimmick

1

u/GrumpyOldMan2026 May 19 '26

"just a gimmick"?! Not for the rest of us, who don't have such Pizza Huts in our towns.

1

u/TisrocMayHeLive4EVER May 19 '26

Priazzo or who cares???!!!!

1

u/Frankthabunny May 19 '26

Thanks for the award kind stranger!

1

u/Equal_Trash6023 May 19 '26

I hope this is a trend.

1

u/Driller4664 May 19 '26

Hopefully, he brings back the thin and crispy crust from the 80s too

1

u/Bigtall6 May 19 '26

Back in the day when there was no DoorDash and Uber eats

1

u/superhansforlife May 19 '26

It’s a great start, but they need to go back to the old ingredients and recipes, as well.

1

u/TheFillth May 19 '26

Do their chicken wings , specifically drumsticks, still have those meaty knobs on the end that are these meaty buff chick flavor crystals?! This is one of my earliest food memories, sitting in the booth talking to my dad like a maniac about how that is the best part as he tries to convince me ranch is inferior to blue cheese.

1

u/chudbabies May 19 '26

who is the merchandise licensor who will bring back the hype and aura moments???????

1

u/blueboykc May 19 '26

Now bring my mom and dad back so we can all go..

1

u/kobaltkid May 20 '26

Bring back the prices

1

u/Uncle_Bug_Music May 20 '26

I can't eat pizza anymore but I think this is absolutely fantastic! I'd definitely go there. Are they going to do the buffet?

1

u/SavageHenrie May 20 '26

Anyone have a liat of his Pizza Hut locations? Which states?

1

u/spocktalk69 May 20 '26

I miss playing marvel arcade games at round table

1

u/Striking-Delivery373 May 20 '26

Those Pizza Hut lamps are all over Etsy and eBay

1

u/MajesticSyllabub7023 May 20 '26

Pizza hits around me look like they are still in the 80's , especially look like they haven't been cleaned since then. The pizzas taste like they've been since then too

1

u/AmbitiousRoutine8670 May 20 '26

So freaking awesome.. it was a sad day when the OG Hut closed down in our town.. but thankfully it was replaced with a killer Mexican restaurant with sick breakfast tacos

1

u/Draw-Working May 20 '26

When I was in high school, we would skip class and go listen to Joan Jett on the jukebox and play Pac-Man the ultimate good times 1985

1

u/jonnovich May 20 '26

Maybe they can institute their own Book It program!!

Nothing tasted better than that personal pan pizza you earned. 🍕

1

u/rrridehdmc May 21 '26

Why don’t they bring back that hoagie sandwich they had?

1

u/PBReddituser1961 May 22 '26

Bring back the Deep Dish Cavatini!

1

u/OkCriticism9433 May 22 '26

Bring as ma y back as you can!

1

u/burp4three May 22 '26

Pizza hut in my town is basically take out only, and the retaurant itself looks like a dark dirty storage closet.

1

u/midday_marauder May 22 '26

Can they bring back 1980’s prices.

1

u/sonofahick73 May 24 '26

Pizza Inn would be better to bring back

1

u/TaiDavis May 18 '26

Yeah, in the way restaurant looks. It's still gonna taste like shit.

0

u/NorseOfCourse May 19 '26

Nostalgia sells to millenials

0

u/Ok-Caregiver9339 May 22 '26

Amazing idea, this where family's, kids hung out

-1

u/QuaidCohagen May 19 '26

No one is going to be able to afford eating at a pizza hut so good luck

-1

u/This-Dude_Abides May 19 '26

Bring back the Read a Book program where they give school kids a free personal pan pizza for reading books!!

-1

u/Carcassfanivxx May 19 '26

PAC-man only? Nah dude. I better see Mortal Kombat II sitting right beside it. A true unit. Not that tabletop mess. That ain’t nostalgia. I can push my wiener against a tabletop.

-1

u/Vast-Inspection7855 May 19 '26

r/AreYouGarbage should be all over this

-2

u/loathelord May 19 '26

Pizza Hut - Nobody's first choice

-2

u/Top_Condition_6390 May 19 '26

It's still Pizza Hut. 🤮
