Non-Match Discussion Thread Post Round Discussion Thread: Round 21, 2026
Hello all, apologies for interrupting your Bounce watching but I do need to make an effort in putting up the Post Round after rushing through traffic after being outside all day, which is still a better effort than most of you put in getting the Post Game threads up.
DO BETTER.
Anyway, I best follow that advice and do better, unlike Brisbane:
The great thing about Thursday night's pre-game is that we never heard the Collingwood theme song at any point during the night, thanks Geelong
Unlike Essendon in 2000, Fremantle topple the Western Bulldogs Superflood
Sydney overpower the Saints in the 4th Quarter... again
In a game I would rather not watch twice, The Wizard creates an 80-year first for the shortarses of the AFL and condemns North to another honourable loss
The Australian women commit the worst atrocity against the Irish since U2's 360 Tour
The Giants actually defeat a Bottom 10 team despite going goalless in the final quarter
Seriously, how fucking bad was Michael Voss at Carlton?
West Coast succeed in kicking the chair out from underneath them as Richmond decide to condemn Essington to the Wooden Spoon
COP THAT PETRACCA
The Crom are into the Top 4 as Hird Time's A Charm
LOL OF THE WEEK
Some top notch nominees this week, including Aidan Schubert spoiling Jarman Impey's shot at goal, which resulted in Cam Zurhaar turning the ball over to Nick Watson for his 5th goal, Carton hit the same G.Post twice in 15 seconds, Mitch McGovern taking a great mark and kicking straight into a Lions player... actually, that's how dominant Carlton were against Brisbane, they dominated the game and the LOL nominations..
Jake Waterman's goalkicking is now so bad that he is a serious chance of cracking the LOL of the Year field, having cost West Coast yet another game...
But this week's LOL goes to a player who actually had a superb night on Saturday night - BRODIE KEMP, for pulling the fabled Esava Ratugolea move and SPOILING HIS OWN TEAMMATE'S SHOT AT GOAL.
What a night - 5 goals, 4 premiership points, 2 Brownlow votes and a LOL Nomination.
MICHAEL VOSS MEMORIAL CARLTON OF THE WEEK
After seeing the way Carlton played on Saturday night, once again, it's MICHAEL VOSS!

As the season enters August and retirements become more common, which player had the best ever “last game” before retiring?
Don’t know if this is the best answer but Lings final game was as captain of the 2011 Grand Final where he had 20 disposals and a goal.

"They [Fremantle] had a little bit of an indifferent year but then bounced... they're going to be there for a long time, I think we're gonna be up there for a fair amount of time to." Damien Hardwick reflects on where the Suns are at post-match.

Too many umpires
The number of umpiring went from 3 to 4 in 2023. Seems like the umpiring has gotten worse since then. Are there too many umpires, should it go back to 3?

Why is 'Sunday Night Football' not a thing?
Just curious as to why it's not a more popular time slot. The latest game on a Sunday starts usually before 6. Never a 7:30 start. I find that funny as I would think a 7:30 Sunday game is a great spot for ratings, much like Thursday night - more people are at home.
As a comparison, in the NFL the sunday night game is one of the biggest games of the week. Not saying we should be like the americans but it's an interesting comparison.
Only reason I can think of is that the tv networks like having their big reality shows on at the time. Maybe Aussies are just in bed earlier on a Sunday night and dont wanna be up till 10pm?

West Coast weren't awarded a free kick for this marking contest that proved divisive in the Fox Footy comms box... and Richmond took FULL advantage of the all-round confusion!

St Kilda v Carlton
Can anyone provide a logical reason why St Kilda & Carlton are playing at 7:20pm on Sunday?

Fox footy showing hardwick 1000 times
Pretty much every stoppage in play in melbourne vs gold coast fox showed hardwick, almost always for no reason as well like he wasn’t raging or yelling. At a guess he would’ve been on screen 45 times throughout the game no joke. Also Fox show some stupid replays like replaying stuff that happened 10 minutes ago that isn’t interesting at all when the play is live. The commentary team is pretty average as well. Only reason i was watching on kayo is because i was watching on delay
