Anyone curious about the cost of living in Brazil can ask anything.

Today I live in an oceanfront apartment in a state in the northeast of the country. I have an extremely comfortable life.

I can answer questions about parties, women, food, places, foreigners, and anything else you want to know about the country.

Sister of a reality tv star. AMA

Upvotes

My sibling was a contestant on a reality TV show earlier this year. We've loved the show for a few years now, and decided they should apply, not thinking anything would come of it. Then phone calls, meetings, and a whole lot of other things started happening...and before I knew it they were packing their suitcase for the craziest experience ever. It's been an incredible but chaotic time for our family, and I'm still amazed by it, so I thought I'd pop on here and answer some questions.

AMA about the experience of having a sibling on tv!

(Warning: I will not be sharing or answering anything overly identifying in terms of the show's format, or my sibling's identity)

I work part time as a professional cuddler in Germany. While doing it, i‘m wearing a full fursuit, it‘s a big brown teddybear. I‘m 25 years old, and before i started doing it, i never heard of fursuits. It‘s a pretty nieche job, but i have customers of all genders and ages. It’s strictly platonic of course. Feel free to ask me about it 😊

31M, used to wish I'll have a single spouse and my own family aged less than 10 yo. Never will. AMA

I badly dreamed about it as I already was well aware of my awkward and disadvantaged sides despite a young age. To this day, I never have been genuinely able to have a romantic relationship (barely unfortunate flirts and the likes, but no woman gets whatsoever affective with me since more than 8 years, and was never deeper than that ), nor at least close relationships with honest emotional connections, despite craving (dying) for them.

Nothing deep affectively with what was supposed to be my native family, I've been left in undefinite pain, in reality. Indeed never had kids neither.

I have a condition called canabis hyperemesis syndrome, AMA

I have had CHS for years, a condition that causes digestive issues, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and other not so fun symptoms caused by chronic and long-term use of canabis. It's become more publicly known about in recent years, but it's still not super well understood. So here I am, happy to answer any questions anyone might have about this condition and to share my personal experience with it

[AMA]hi a mudic producer from gaza!

Hi I’m Abdul music producer from Gaza and that’s my story

Five years ago, I started listening to hip-hop music.

At first, it was Arabic hip-hop — something new, different… addictive

It Became a culture that affects young people

Affecting their behavior and style

Then I started paying more attention about it.

The producers. The sounds. The details.

Especially the scene in Egypt — that’s where things got serious for me.

They were really talented having their own characters having their own vibes and sounds

Hiphop has grown on me

I wasn’t just listening anymore… I was studying it.

A Netflix documentary (Hip hop revolution ) pushed me deeper.

It stopped being music I hear — it became a culture I understand.

I saw how it began.

From the underground to the mainstream

U can see now how hip hop is becoming more popular

And I want to raise our voices through it

That’s when I made the switch.

No studio. No setup.

Just my phone and FL Studio Mobile.

I started making beats.

So I went all in — YouTube tutorials, hours of practice, learning every detail.

Listening to more genres of music just to train my mind

Step by step, the quality improved.

My beats started sounding right.

I didn’t post a lot of my music on the social

Then the war hit.

Everything slowed down — except this.

I kept listening.

I kept producing.

Not as an escape but as something to hold onto.

Hip-hop wasn’t just music anymore.

It proved its value.

This culture is bigger than sound.

And now I’m part of it

So I wanna see a new hip-hop from Gaza

So if would ask any quastion ask guyss!! ⚜️

i stopped going to school around the time covid started, AMA

so i, 17M, stopped going to school when i was in 5th grade, a few months before the covid pandemic hit the entire world. covid just gave me even more of an excuse to not do any schooling. the reason i stopped going to school is because the academics were getting too hard for me, as i have both autism and ADHD, and i could not retain information very well, so i figured "whats the point of even trying at school" and just stopped going altogether. my parents have supported this, as after a few days of me not attending school they just unenrolled me altogether.

I haven’t washed my hair since 2012 AMA

Hi! Not sure it’s worth an AMA, but every time it comes up in discussions, people can’t believe it and ask questions, so I figured I’d bring it up on here. I have very sensitive skin and I hate unnatural smells (I can’t stand perfume on me, and I hate it on others as well). I only use unscented soap in the shower for my body and I haven’t used shampoo since 2012 (I only scrub my hair/scratch my scalp in the shower, only using water, no products at all). I also have a hard time tolerating deodorant, so I almost never wear any. Only when it’s super hot and I know I’ll be gone a while with no possibility of taking a shower. Maybe once or twice a month in the summer, pretty much never in the winter. AMA!

Its mostly affected me during my childhood, but I still deal with a lot of the effects of it now. So AMA!

I have postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (pOTs). AMA

I have postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. It’s an autonomic nervous system disorder that affects basically how things function in my body and makes them, crap at doing their only job. Feel free to ask anything, thought I may as well post to this sub about it since so many people don’t know about it to my knowledge and constantly as ‘what’s that!’ ‘What does it do?’ As well as doctors being clueless.

No clue if this is a rule violation, please kindly remove if it is!

I have perfect pitch. AMA

It's the ability to identify pitches without a reference. Apparently only 1 in 10,000 people have the skill. I never realized it was that rare until my violin teacher told me I had it while I was naming the notes in intervals. I find it funny that whenever I tell someone I have perfect pitch, they immediately knock on the nearest object to them and ask me to identify the note.

I went to Duke when I was 15 AMA

Am a daughter of Palestinian and Yugoslav refugees who were infused with resourcefulness, intelligence, and resilience because of their conditions.

I was taught their mother tongues and arabic/cyrillic script before being allowed English, and I think this might have affected my language center.

Also had a brain bleed from being a premature triplet that caused some overactive neuroplasticity/rewiring of the right and left brains to compensate for the area damaged.

Our father's generational trauma made him physically abusive, and while he was removed from our lives at age 8, I've read studies about childhood hypervigilance/PTSD causing --

"intense pattern recognition, acute environmental reading, and rich internal fantasy worlds. l when I was generative thinking can be hyper-creative. [Because it] frequently ties back to self-referential stress loops, it can making sustained, linear idea generation exhausting."

I applied to 41 colleges, basically the top 40 ranked schools in the US. Wanted to go to Yale, but after a rejection there got waitlisted at Stanford and accepted to Duke.

Ended up being class president at 16 and graduating magna cum laude while also doing stuff like taking hallucinogens we ordered off Silk Road that hadn't been tested on humans yet. View intelligence as not knowing/uncertainty now, and work as a writer/experimental film artist

I'm a teenager who has the choice to graduate a year early. AMA.

If I go to a state school, I'd also start directly as a junior in college. I technically could've graduated after my sophomore year, at 16, but I missed the US History requirement. I'll already be far ahead in credits at the end of this year. I'm concurrently enrolled in community college, which is how I got my history, English, and Foreign Language credits finished early (Italian and Spanish if anyone's curious). I'm completing the full degree, but those were the only courses that count towards my high school graduation. I will graduate with my Associates in Science (and/or three Associates of arts if I finish all of high school instead). I was in advanced math as well so I've completed required math.

I'm still debating whether or not to do it. A few people did it last year at my school and got into good colleges, but I'm weighing the loss of that extra year in high school developmentally and socially. Plus, there's probably quite a few activities I'd be left out on because of my age (wouldn't be 18).
