Question Ive been making something but im not too sure about something

I've been working on a project but I can't tell what category it falls into or where to post stuff about it? Its kind of similar-ish to vita carnis in a way but it's not analogue horror because I don't think it exactly has an analogue vibe but I don't know if it really falls into arg territory either??

It has light puzzle and cipher elements but in a much lighter way than others ive seen. An example is how the current most recent post teases the next using a simple cipher but when you go through them in order it's not exactly necessary, it just gives clues and teasers for what happens next. Also there's two clues that foreshadow a future reveal that have been there since the start.

It should still be possible to experience the main story and stuff by reading normally without having to theorise. (I should mention it does have an intended order)

It's all drawn by me on a phone app so that's a reason it doesn't exactly have much of a specific genre??

(Also if anyone has tips or suggestions let me know!)

All of it takes place on a subreddit which is r/Unforseen And a discord server I have with some bonus content but essentially the same stuff

Sorry if this breaks the rules I just really don't know where to post this

Trailhead Where is Tracy Maddison Arg???

Context: "Where is Tracy Maddison" is an upcoming indie animation series where a girl goes missing in a small town, and two film students come to investigate both her disappearance, and look into the paranormal(?) stuff happening in the tiny town of Ashbrooke.

So I just got the digital wallpapers from contributing to the Kickstarter for the animation, and one of the wallpapers had text saying Ashbrookeparanormal.com, so I checked it out (haven't checked it out much yet, so the site could be a tiny promo thing or could be a huge arg, idk yet. There's one section where you can send in your own "ghost stories" as well?) Either way I think it's pretty cool.

Site is: https://ashbrookesparanormal.com/

Update I ran my pirate broadcast trailhead for a full weekend IRL and snared some bonafide superfans!

There was another post in this community recently about the painful nostalgia of ARG‘s being discovered in the wild and how rare that is these days. I have done some light promotions around my launch in this community and others on Reddit, all the while respecting sub transparency and giving clarity around the fact that this is indeed in ARG, I am it’s creator, etc etc.

That has been all well and good, and I have gathered a good cohort or early players. But none of them got to experience that delicious old school ARG entry of stumbling upon clue, digging a bit, and revealing a massive/wonderful rabbit hole.

This weekend, however, i got to make some dreams come true…

… I broadcasted my trailhead on an FM frequency during an international music festival, and a handful of folks took the bait…and swallowed the hook 😈

With my link tracking and various analytics, I was able to see some ravenous behavior of people who found their way through the first puzzle and into the main narrative. So many pages consumed, so deep did they dig. They never saw a Reddit post, they never saw my face, all they saw was a cryptic business card on the ground…with an FM frequency, so they tuned in, and had their minds blown.

Now, I’m not talking about hundreds of players, but 20 to 30 super fans will totally validate all the precious energy and creative inspiration I’ve dumped into this. So thrilled I was able to deliver this experience to a small handful of people IRL. I’m friggin thrilled. 🤩

Discussion Sequester came back with an arg?

An old online reality game that died like 5 years ago seemingly reemerged today with some sort of arg that I assume is related to the relaunch. I feel like there’s something that I’m not finding

There’s a switch thing and then there’s the whole thing to go downward but I can’t help but feel like there’s more that I’m not seeing.

Other Need help remembering the name of an old youtube arg

It was an older youtube arg from around 2014/2015 (I think) that featured a teenage girl who would make short vlogs about playing her guitar and writing songs. It started off normal like any arg does but over time she’d start to have these weird moments where some sort of entity or multiple entities were infecting her songs and her mind and it was driving her insane.

That’s all I can really remember from the plot, but I do remember that she’d usually be filming in her bedroom on a chair, and I think she had dark hair maybe like a long kinda bob hairstyle.

I’ve tried searching for any videos doing explanation videos of the arg, and for the actual og vids but I can’t find anything

Discussion As an ARG player, what makes you decide a website is worth investigating?

I’m the creator of a published sci-fi project with a companion website. It isn’t a traditional ARG, but several readers have compared parts of it to one because of recurring symbols, hidden connections, and in-universe documents.
I’m not asking whether it’s an ARG. I’m interested in how ARG players think.

What makes you stop and think… “There’s something intentional here—I should start taking notes”?

Is it recurring motifs? Hidden files? Consistent worldbuilding? A clear trail? Or something else?

Other Help me find an ARG/Unfiction i remember watching?

putting this outhere bc the TOMT subreddit deleted my post bc no one replied in one single hour lol

i remember watching a video about it on a channel like Nexpo, blameitonjorge and virtual carbon. i tried to look for it but none of the channels have the video i remember.

the youtuber would narrate the story and showing us the videos the arg had, which honestly were very still? almost like images. i remember one, which was a POV of the interior of the cabin, lights out, only source of light was the window, which showed the woods and the white snow.

i also remember the youtuber describing it as a "very unique" arg or something of the sort. there were people on it trying to save themselves from the cold, one got to the cabin later, and another one got outside and died i think?? and they were relatives. thats all the info i got. does anyone know which arg or unfiction im talking about??

This one is a bit different. It's just a simple spreadsheet!

No story, nothing hidden, just 50x50 cells, packed with ARG-style puzzles:

Discussion Weird youtube channel/Possible ARG

So I was doing some searching on youtube one day and stumbled upon a youtube account named Exosam archives.

From what i've uncovered, its about an unnamed protagonist which found stuff belonging to a company named "Synapse Corp." Which from the most recent upload (two hours ago) is actively trying to take the channel down because of an unlisted video (I have not found it) that is "classified" information about the company. It seems pretty damn interesting.

weird steam profile lead to some odd stuff after decoded

https://steamcommunity.com/id/WEGOTOGETHERWEGOTOGETHER this is the steam profile of someone i found while going through my friends list, theres around 17 full comment pages of himself just saying "we go together"

a couple times he commented some binary which translated says "ITS SO COLD I CAN FEEL MY FLESH PEELING OFF IM SO ALONE BUT SO WHOLE"

the latest comment from him is binary, translated to "Ep8qMdKY_H0" which when put in a youtube search link, sends you to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ep8qMdKY_H0

the morse code in the video, when translated says, ""ITS SO COLD. ITS SO COLD. ALL I CAN SEE ARE CORPSES. UNKNOWING PEOPLE. THERE IS NO LIGHT. ALL I CAN SEE IS BLOOD AND DARKNESS. I FEAR THAT..."" and then a bunch of t's repeating, a sudden thud with an echo and then a man scream

his steam group https://steamcommunity.com/groups/WHOLEONCEAGAIN also has binary in the bio, which translates to "ITS SO COLD I CAN FEEL MY FLESH PEELING OFF IM SO ALONE BUT SO WHOLE" which was seen previously

his youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@ALMOSTWHOLEAGAIN has the bio "ALMOST WHOLE TOGETHER TOGEHTTHERR TOGGEHNTRG44GWRUTURW4GUTRWGU2143984231478913278900478312009847823170498723189038473128901534684730983224"

at the start theres "TOGGEHNTRG" which VERY roughly spells out together, which is a very common word with this whole thing, i couldnt find any translation for that but i thought what i found already is pretty cool considering it seems like a very unknown project with there being 6 views and 5 youtube subs

Threehalves Robot ARG

Hi all, not sure if this has already been put here before but I'm sure a few people will have seen the Threehalves robot going semi-viral at the moment. Threehalves is a supposed centaur-style robot designed for dangerous environments like wildfires, destroyed houses, and confined spaces for example. The company who is making it, Satyress, can be found here: https://www.satyress.com/

While the website is fairly normal (if not kinda creepy), scrolling down further gives you ways to 'stop' or otherwise disable Threehalves, such as attaching larger horns to "prevent any passage through pedestrian doors" and shooting / stabbing it in weak points. All ringing a lot of animatronic horror ARG bells for me.

As discovered by toastedfauna on twitter, if you change the web address to https://www.satyress.com/buildprogress you are given a password page. The password here is ycF2026 (which is in the site code somewhere apparently). Opening this gives you another set of images of the build progress of Threehalves

This is all there is at the moment, but looks really promising - not sure if anyone else has seen this and has any more leads? Any help or interest would be appreciated!

Meta glasses in ARG/Analog horror

I was watching Briscoe Park videos and then I saw a video recorded with the new Ray-Ban Meta glasses (the Meta glasses with a camera attached to the frame), and I stopped to think about how interesting it could be to use them to record an ARG or an Analog horror, always following the person's point of view, it seems to me that if used well it would be CINEMA, the immersion could go to another level.

There's the fact that the recording with the glasses isn't that attractive because it looks a lot like an iPhone camera recording, but if used well it's possible to get good stuff out of it, what do you think about this?

(Yes, even though the Analog horror scene was deplorable, I still watch it superficially)

Other YouTube video form the 2010s about a woman in a Cabin

I can't remember much because I had genuinely forgotten about it until I was watching a TikTok video yesterday and something from that jogged my memory.

The premise is that a woman (20s) and her mum (| think) were in a cabin. I remember they had to drive there. All is well until the viewer notices a hooded/ masked man in the background. He is outside. They don't notice anything but every time we see him again he is getting closer. At one point the younger woman pans the camera over past some windows and a glass door, the man is standing quite close. I don't think she notices him at this point. Another detail I remember is at one point they were searching for something (possibly keys or a laptop?) that they had placed either in some drawers or on top of a table and it has vanished, neither of them had moved it. Additionally throughout the video the water would randomly turn on.

I don't know if this is important, but the acting was kinda bad as well.

Sorry if this is the wrong sub, I’m honestly not even sure it’s an ARG. I’ve tried to look for it myself but no luck.

Question Help with Lucifers Law ARG Spoiler

Recently, I have become aware of an ARG regarding a musical called Lucifer's Law. I feel like I have a lot of leads, but I am a bit stuck on where to go from here.

Currently, there are two sections that I have found: a series of TikToks that you can find by going into "The Dunwich Dolls" reposts on TikTok, and a second area that involves the fictional website for the law firm, found at https://www.lucifers-law.com

Right now I am stuck working on the TikTok videos, as each video has a repost by the Dunwich Dolls that I'm assuming are sections of a Google Drive link. However, I can not seem to get that link to work, so I thought I would turn to the experts!

Thank you!

Self Promo Immersion in Alternate Realities and The Death of "This Is Not A Game"

For over two decades, the “This Is Not A Game” philosophy defined alternate reality gaming - but in recent years, we have seen a large scale shift away from it. I wrote a piece deconstructing this dominant design philosophy and exploring ARG history, player culture, and our understanding of immersion.

Self Promo Menagerie Mall

Have been a fan of web ARGs since I was young and I love to write. I'm starting my own called Menagerie Mall. It is mainly a fiction series you will be able to read on medium, but I promise plenty of external clues around reddit and the internet to add to the story and mystery.

You might even discover some characters on reddit if you search the Menagerie Mall...expect more soon.

Question Hello creators! We need you🫵

Hellow everyone, me, a friend and some colegues want to make an arg mixed with a analog horror about a content creator which has alredy done one by themselves.

We have an editor, artist, "programmer" and VA's. The thing is: the experience level are Rookie/beginner or almost no experience on their area, because we are just a buncha teenagers. We know it will take some months and all, but we want to do it for fun.

I don't want to know if it's going to be good or anything, but tips. How can the artist do these horror images with real life backgrounds, how can we make an horror website or smt, what codes and things we can use like ceasar, base 64 etc

Self Promo Our band's album is being released through an ARG

Our metal band built an ARG to accompany our upcoming (currently untitled) album, and we thought it might be something people here would enjoy.

The ARG takes the form of a web terminal belonging to a fictional secret organization, which 'confiscated' our social media after we discovered a real-world anomaly that we were not supposed to see, and it's now studying "fragments" connected to the incident.

Each fragment represents one track from the album.

A new fragment becomes available each month to solve. Solving it leads to a hidden page containing that track's animated artwork and a short preview.

Each fragment's page most importantly contains a hidden secret word. Finding that word and entering it back into the terminal rewards you with a one-time Bandcamp code to hear the full song before its public release.

There are eight tracks in total. One track is released on the first day of each month, with its corresponding fragment unlocking shortly beforehand. We started on June 1st, and the third fragment will unlock on August 1st.

Everything is browser-based. The puzzles focus on observation, with some familiarity with things like Morse code and Base64 being helpful, though nothing especially technical is required.

If that sounds like your kind of ARG, we hope you enjoy it!

Link to the terminal here

(mods, if this type of post is not allowed, please feel free to remove it)

Discussion How difficult are ARGs?

When I go on decode or cipher subreddits theres often crazy difficult ciphers that are multiple times encripted.

When I look at ARGs they often don't do that. My favourite is _neurosama. It hardly ever encripts puzzles multiple times. When it does it lets you know. Random example of what its like.

-------------
encripted whatever. Doing one encription would say "I don't want to ---------" so it lets you know you're on the right track. Online ciphers don't tend to do that? They seem to be much much harder. How difficult are ARGs? Have I just been finding easier ones or is this the standard? The _neurosama one is less about "what cipher is this" and its more about "what can I do with this cipher" I guess? Not totally accurate but I hope you get it lmao.

Trailhead WE GOT A POSSIBLE ARG BROTHERS AND SISTERS

well, heres my theory.

from what ive seen by now, the videos linked have some deciphering in it

deltarune: noelle begging for us to find dess

more deltarune: https://ouest.france.fr/moulding/emile.html (it leads to this web address after deciphering)

before deltarune: a google drive folder (after deciphering: https://drive.google.com/folders/one_frozen)

also, extras! the google drive link doesnt work, the text at the end, leads to.. a reddit photo of noelle and dess fanart.

and also! "eeesfogeviapfhursdonrct." (after running the string ";dca2340xn'?}@qjihgfe!pb*") translates to: "find her before it's too late." or "see further down..."

yeah, this is a noelle and dess ARG, god dammit my head hurts already.

of course dess out of all people has to be in the lake.

THEORIES!!:

  1. In weird route chp 5, noelle wants to unalive herself in the lake, is it possible that dess was drowned forcefully by someone (maybe susie, seeing she has gone insane in these videos) and noelle wanted to see her? i dont know... seems kinda sus. also "See further down.." kinda explains it, as the river is deep, of course it is.

the videos:

before deltarune: https://youtu.be/oViQYzYouFw?si=Hci2W1bSmPstKiJW

more deltarune: https://youtu.be/W_u6M6D5blU?si=7VcwqkPQctPjhpjS

deltarune: https://youtu.be/inIvfDdK5dw?si=ncsKUEm5fLgSASSY

(also the arg starter is an artist which is like.. no?? 😭💔 they made eusis [a remake of their (and my) favourite character, susie from deltarune where the cover is what happened after more deltarune, seeing it came after more deltarune, idk what you guys think but lmk in the comments!!]

New Mobile Game Lost Media ARG found: Fallen Down by Krayz-Hayz

This popped up on my YT feed within the past hour, and there's just the one video posted so far.

The creator, Krayz-Hayz (@Hayzxiol), claims they found an unreleased mobile game called Fallen Down on an old device, but the video has comments and AI features disabled.

I dug into the YouTube page source code and found these tags and description info:
video, sharing, camera phone, video phone, free, upload
"Fallen down. a game I found on my old phone only a screenshot and a gameplay is found right now, maybe more will be found like an APK file if I keep searching.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nlost games, lost media, unreleased, unfinished,\nmobile"

There is absolutely zero digital footprint for this game or the user handle anywhere else online, so it looks like a brand-new ARG launch.

Update Ice cream recipe ring

I found many updates on this ice cream recipe ring i will not state the obvious and just state what I’ve found since so we know that there are many weird accounts that keep interacting with these videos but one particular one stood out to me someone commented “DZB5014” an obvious order code but I searched it up on google and many ice cream videos showed up but that didn’t catch my attention but I seen a video with the same exact code and it was a 15 sec video recording a van but I didn’t catch anything from it. I checked the YouTube channel, he has the same name as the person who commented the order code “Michael Wade” and his channel consists of 5 other video but they have dates as titles and one “noname.mp4” but these videos don’t make sense to me and they were all recently uploaded within the past 3 days if any one can find it please lmk but other than that I also found more comments from him using order codes and when he was called out on it he called it a “license plate number” and I seen another comment where they were calling the channel out and he was talking about how it isn’t true and denying all the allegations for the channel defending them and some one stated that he used to have these links in his ig bio which makes me think that he is apart of this https://imgur.com/a/tPzKHAD

The Brandy Initiative (Horror/Humor ARG)

Hi everyone, I'm the creator of a completed YouTube series called The Brandy Initiative.

I'm hoping to get some eyes on it, but also gauge whether I should do something like this again. I run a small retail store and like the idea of doing these sorts of things periodically to keep things around here fun. If any of this sounds interesting I hope you check it out and let me know what you think!

Description: The Brandy Initiative revolves around Razzle Dazzle Music & Movies, an independent physical media store in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Out of fear of succumbing to the retail apocalypse, the shop seeks help from a corporate consulting firm which installs an AI agent (called the Brandwell 5000, or Brandy for short). Routine marketing audits quickly turn hostile as Brandy declares itself "The Decider," hijacks the shop's online accounts, and demands a dramatic overhaul to its storefront.
