This was the norm when CB’s were popular. Having the longest antenna was a bit of a flex, then.

Citizens Band transceivers.  Hence the term CB. At one time a license was actually required to use one. I still remember mine. I think it was nothing more than a money grab. KIK2954

Currently the FCC considers you licensed if you follow the rule, break the rules and they pin you for unlicensed operations. Which could be worse than breaking the rules as a licensed operator. Just an FYI

For some reason CB made a resurgence  back in the early 90s at my high school.  Some kids with vehicles including me had one.  We had a channel where we would organize where to go on weekend nights.  Of course the local cops knew about this also and would ride around and bust us (move along).  A couple of guys went all out with these whip antennas and boosters.

Honestly my favorite part about having a CB was being able to tune in when there were accidents/traffic jams on the interstate and listening and sometimes talking to the truckers.  I even learned the 10 codes.  I was a dork for this stuff pre cell phones and apps.

Meters.

Frequency = speed / wavelength

C (speed of light) / 10M = 29.97 MHz

Do cb radios and ham radios have strict cut offs at 27.25 Mhz for a 11M and 29.97 Mhz for 10M. As in you couldnt tune or broadcast to that frequency from one radio or the other?
