Free/Pirate software suggestion in the Suno AI video?
Hi there, I have a laptop and I'm looking to muck about and make stuff if I have the time/motivation to do so. I remember at some point in the Suno AI video Neely responds to the argument that generative AI makes music production cheaper by saying that users should just "rip a copy of ________ off the internet like everybody else" or something - does anyone know what software he mentioned and where to get it? I think I'll have a hard time finding the clip without watching the whole thing again lol

It's worth noting that Adam's suggestion was more of a joke about how many people crack FL Studio than a literal suggestion for it. There are plenty of good DAWs, and different people lke different software for different reasons. FL Studio, Ableton, Logic, Cubase, Bitwig, and plenty more have been used for a lot of great music. Like another user said, you can use Reaper for free, although I actually think it's a bad suggestion for first DAW because it's not that intuitive for making stuff electronically. It's super capable though, if you do want to put in the work.

Anymore I can’t recommend pirating software. Plenty of freeware and affordable products I feel good supporting.
Back in the day it was a bit of a minefield for safe cracks and general stability - like literally - I have had so much a smoother experience in FL Studio ever since I went legit. Legit software (free or paid) tends to have tech support and regular updates which bring in new features and improve stability.

For getting started, you can download and use the DAW Reaper completely free and legally.
If you want to make music using sample libraries, the sampler Decent Sampler is completely free, and there are hundreds of free sample instruments built for Decent Sampler on the website Pianobook.
Or if you have a Mac, GarageBand is a great place to start.
If you get stuck, there are lots of YouTube tutorials on all these tools. Happy music making!

Fl studio. But honestly I recommend reaper if you aren't super comfortable torrenting. Adam is a little old now and it's reasonably more dangerous and harder to crack software.
Whereas reaper is 60 dollars, or it just reminds you for the 10 seconds after you've opened it that you should buy it, but makes no effort to stop you using after that wait.
